  1. none of the hotfixes cant be installed afterwards. and this service pack mostly helps with fresh installs or complete ofline updates. if we want to coninue this whe SHOULD leave the sp5 in its place as SP5 and atempt to ONLY build aditions to ... like a normal comulative hotfix (this is a simpler and b takes less space to reside ... if realy want this, lets call it a post sp5 rollup package (like ms would have called it......
  2. someone wrote, - but the main deal about firefox is that it users extentions. - if opera gets thome - it would be way better than firefox, well this is un true... - because the only advantage of opera vs firefox is that opera is faster. any smartass opera fanboy telling diferent should have been more willing to look into firefox's extention library ... and yes. extentions WILL make your browser a bit slower, maybe even more than just a bit. if you dont nead advanced or truely customizing of your brower use opera, (hell i recomand it to many newbe-pc users). its all about what you choose, - do you spend you credits on speed, or on flexebility.. opera is NOT better, Nor is it worse ... any moron that doesn't understand that this is FACT shouldn't even begin to speak about this in the first place.... /me sighs, pfew. how harsh do you nead to be to make a statement about useless crap of wich of 2 (apels and lemons) makes a better grape-juice.
  3. exept for the fact that if you have a 5gb system partiotion you only need so mutch as 2gb (actualy even less but i take it on the safe side), for your backup (using ghost images, with high compression enabled),
  4. sorry but for this money i disagrea for the intel xeon part and for the cpanel part. on server (hardware) side i wouldn't start up anything with way-to-expensive new hardware EVER, just go about buying yourself a nice set of not-to-expensive servers or even second-hands if you can find yourself a good deal, second of all, dont rent a big huge building but try out co-located hosting for a while first to see if this is for you... on third, there is a free (i think also opensource) instant out of the box webserver project called CWL (completewebserver.nl - maintained by a dutch group but support and stuff is in english and dutch) that concludes my tips for now...
  5. didn't 2k already support 16bit transperancy (24bit icon's)
  6. i know thy twerd was biatching - all about firefox but ready this article makes me wonder, but where this actualy thread is about firefox and opera... i usualy just say 1 thing, its a matter of choice - if you want a free broser that runs fast, and has buildin rendering for buth IE and Gecko brosers, and also a verry standard-like set of features, go for opera - because it will be way faster than Firefox, but when you want 1 brosers on more thant one os white on every system the same settings, a verry big set of features and more customization in looks and functions, take firefox for a spin....
  7. you know the one thing i still cant emegine is: | why would i ever be beta'testing it? > for the fun ofcaurce but why would i go around and bug-hunt the d@mned thing, - for no reason at al: ---- why would i be looking for details about a bug if i stumble upon one?. (for even less reason). what could make me change my atitude? well cash for one, or maybe a free personal (non-transferable) licence for the final version i beta-tested if i can provide a certain amount of info about 1 or more bugs.... why dont they just make it a game?
  8. i think he's gone or some..... but i may somewhare have his fileset lying around. with icons... but id wish to know.. - how many of you would participate in a new project. to create all (or as many as posible) resources... id be willing to host it...
  9. ive tryed extracting the installer myself, but realy without Gurglemeyers help im quite stuck in how this actualy works... if id understand this a bit better i would have taken some steps myself in adding at least the most important updates...

    Goddies:

the project apears to be dead though :S
  11. so true. but sadly enouth there are many websites and more sadly many programmes depending on IE i do thank the gods that for office-suite is no longer so (as openoffice + odt) and even MSN (in forms of aMSN) now work great without it. but still. for now im still so sad that there seam not to be a truely good explorer repacement - (i only wish that reactos's version would finaly get improved) but all aside - the main isue is that not many website keep to open standards.
  12. fixing the reg - is probably the harders part ...
  13. @ LLXX > lol nice statement - but a helpfull link would be helpfull as well, @ TOTO > hmmz hang on ill try to find some good explaining about this, in the mean time you may just want to look at google probably with a search Q = Redundant internet conection howto

  16. @vci should be 6 (if i remember correct - but i nlited my disk so cant check ya, - if you want to know for sure - check the release notes.... on this forum.... @13ollox - if in fact you whould have spend as mutch as 10minutes with the search option on this page yould have found. many posts about this being a TRUE service pack. so its possible to A do it with nlte (also has some cute tweaks and un-attended tools you might like..... or B spend a few mins on google looking for the commandline switches for slipstreaming a service pack into a windows source disk..... Goodluck - doing it yourself...
  17. lol except for the FACT that Core 2 Duo is hardly avail ... ask your local Distributor (at least i havn't seen a single retailer that has it stocked already.... not in Holland Belguim no'r englend - (or at least not in the 'quite many' places i know...
  18. is this a left over from NT????
  19. o m f g .... and vista should also run on Intel DX66 with 32meggs of ram and a 100megs harddrive .... do you want vista in 5.1/4 inc disks ????? or on comadore-like cassete-tapes?????
  20. am i the only one that actualy knows the windows licence - AS buying an OEM licence without a new computer is ILLEGAL i think you should buy a retail as - i dont even think that a OEM version of windows can be upgraded ... as of how you'd install Home on this new drive i dont know, - i gues its most likely to buy a new harddisk from your OEM and you probably would have gotten a new system image installed on the disk. - i guess now you should try and retrieve the install-files from the old harddrive .... or probably be a little less legal and make your life easy (no one would know as long as you'd be using your own oem-key)
  21. and soon, ODF (open document format) will be the standard - and even MS office will support basic reading an writing in this format... it wont be long until i myself will no longer use the *.doc format when sending email be rather just attach the *.odt file with only a mere notice in my email-signature that it contains a file in the Open Office doc format and a link to find info how one can open sutch a file in both Open Office or MS office (installing the plugin).
  22. As of now Apache has addressed a bug that exist in nearly all of its versions. in mod_rewrite and the way its handles its rules.. even though mod_rewrite is not often used in a way that makes this bug exploitable there still are some project that use these kinds funcitions for example in the url clean up features like in phpbb phpnuke end those alike if you use such feature, you probably want to read the apache release notes and deside if you nead to update your apache server <here>
  23. there only trouble is creating the images. because im pretty (d*mn) sure if we would start a project to get all there resources togethere, Xpero wouldn't mind building the setup for us... but i think a list of all the resources that 2k uses would be a great beginning. so we could post them on a site (maybe in tumb). a second step would be to create some kind of template to work from, after that probably anyone with sufficient scill could pick up a few resources and fill in the details and we'd have all the required images in no-time...
  24. it stores mutch more than just the fles.. it makes a per BIT exact copy of a volume (disk) only after that, it uses a compression. this is why it can make back-up's of both fat and ntfs and other file-systems as well... there are some backup aplications for this use already that can do this, but i do not know if any of them use a 7z -like compression....
  25. am i the only one only trusting on common sence.....
