  1. Hi all, I'm trying to install a driver for this SD host controller in windows 98se on a dell 9200 laptop. I haven't found any 9x drivers. The 2000/xp driver is supposed to be in R86531.exe but it doesn't open all the way in 98 and says 'unsupported operating system in xp' Another possible driver in R105921.exe. The device id is PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0822. I've found some Ricoh sys files (rimmptsk.sys, risdptsk.sys) that don't have missing imports dated 2006 -the 2004 versions have 2 missing imports. I've moded an inf from lexmark as a starting point. It loads driver but when SD disk is inserted no detection. Maybe someone has a solution- correct driver or edit a 9x friendly inf file. [Version] Signature="$Windows 95$" Class=hdc Provider=%MFG% CatalogFile=Risdptsk.cat DriverVer= 12/20/2004, 1.00.00.05 [Manufacturer] %MFG%=Lexmark [Lexmark] %PCI\VEN_1180&Dev_0822.DeviceDesc%=LXBRWDM,PCI\VEN_1180&Dev_0822&SUBSYS_01A21028 %USB\VID_55AA&PID_B00C.DeviceDesc%=LXBRWDM,USB\VID_55AA&PID_B00C %USB\VID_55AA&PID_B00B.DeviceDesc%=LXBRWDM,USB\VID_55AA&PID_B00B %USB\VID_55AA&PID_B004.DeviceDesc%=LXBRWDM,USB\VID_55AA&PID_B004 %USB\VID_043D&PID_008C.DeviceDesc%=LXBRWDM,USB\VID_043D&PID_008C [LXBRWDM] AddReg = LXBRWDM.AddReg CopyFiles = LXBRWDM.CopyFiles [LXBRWDM.CopyFiles] RISDPTSK.SYS [sourceDiskFiles] RISDPTSK.SYS=1 [DestinationDirs] DefaultDestDir = 11; LXBRWDM.CopyFiles = 11; [sourceDisksNames] 1=%DISK1%,, [LXBRWDM.AddReg] ;HKR,,DevLoader,0,*ntkern HKR,,NTMPDriver,0,RISDPTSK.SYS [strings] MFG="Ricoh" PCI\VEN_1180&Dev_0822.DeviceDesc ="Ricoh SD Bus Host Adapter" USB\VID_55AA&PID_B00C.DeviceDesc ="USB to SmartMedia Card Reader Class Driver" USB\VID_55AA&PID_B00B.DeviceDesc ="USB to Memory Stick Card Reader Class Driver" USB\VID_55AA&PID_B004.DeviceDesc ="USB to MMC/SD Card Reader Class Driver" USB\VID_043D&PID_008C.DeviceDesc ="USB to CF/SM/SD/MS Card Reader Class Driver" DISK1="USB Card Reader to Diskette" UNINSTALL="USB Card Reader to Port Driver"
  2. same as above, firefox 3.6.28 and flash player 11.1, the higher the flash player the more resource hungry it is, especially in ver.14. The only problem I have is being able to play a purchased movie on youtube- it crashes flash player (seems like any version) after about 20 seconds.
  3. It looks like Linksys removed their driver downloads for older versions.
  4. sorry, found it add/remove software. Intel's ultra ata drivers don't usually work in Dell's laptops without some kind of flag but that's another topic.
  5. How can I undo "performance tweaks"? I have a laptop that freezes when exploring root drives-the cd drive is using compatibility mode for some reason. Seemed to happen after checking this opt. I'm only using 512mb ram.
  6. I found this while searching for atheros drivers. You'll see the files are almost the same size. The same three calls are made for NdisQueryBufferSafe as for NdisQueryBuffer in 9x. It looks like a good candidate to play around with. I have some other drivers in mind for my hardware. ftp://lizzi555.dyndns.org/Download/WLAN/Atheros/3_3_0_156/Driver/
  7. Do you have the card, if so have you tried it with the above files? It worked fine for me on ME, used Opera quite a bit through the wifi. There's an entry for NdisQueryBufferSafe in the .sys file, looked for it with a hex editor. cheers, Pete. Is editing a sys file to change NdisQueryBufferSafe back to NdisQueryBuffer possibe/allowed? I'm comparing a 9x driver to NT-looks like it's the only difference. I don't have software to save the changes made to a sys file.
  8. you could try linksys wusb54gc driver/utility for rt7x. Realtek--You could try driver on page http://www.asrock.com/mb/VIA/4CoreDual-SATA2/?cat=Download&os=2K but I doubt it will work.
  9. TmEE did you try this driver? ftp://lizzi555.dyndns.org/Download/WLAN/Atheros/3_3_0_156/
  10. another utililty for Dell truemobile 1300 (PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4318) is in Dell's R58092.exe package. It's basically stripped of 98 stuff (bcmwld9x.exe and such) which can be reinserted in the TMsetup folder. Use Linksys driver from wpc54g version 3.1 setup. At least it works in an Inspiron 8600.
  11. That explains the trouble I had too, with TCPoptimizer--kept asking for a missing .dll which is only in xp. And Firefox 3.6 would crash before it opened.
  12. thanks jumper, I wouldn't have imagined that Linksys made a driver for this. This utility works with Linksys' latest 9x bcmwl5.sys driver (ver 3.9x)
  13. Anybody know where I can find a working 98se broadcom wireless g driver/utility for laptop. AKA Dell truemobile 1300. I've pieced together an inf and sys from 06/2004. Driver loads ok, the utility I have is from 12/2004 and doesn't work. PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4320 bcmwl5.sys
  14. I had to uninstall RP 9.7; it made office xp Excel freeze not long after opening a spreadsheet; seems like a memory conflict; tried all office xp updates to no avail.
  15. I've used 98se everyday at work for more than year now- thanks to the people in this forum. Since the IT guys couldn't get xp to reactivate I reinstalled with dual boot. It's the only 98se computer on the network with about 7 xp computers. My concern is what happens when they upgrade to Win7 or 8? Can 98se access files on win7 or visa versa?
  16. Isn't it funny that you can view images on Bing with IE6 but not with FF 3.6.28?
  17. Diamant, those files sound about right, I'm not using fireshot at all. My core.ini section looks like this: [DCFG1] contents=Kstub822,std,kexbases,kexbasen,K452stub desc=Default mode
  18. After adding KernelEx stubs 452 and 822 I was able to print with a usb printer using firefox 3.6.28. Firefox would usually crash after clicking "print" but it still prints
  19. After removing 1gb ram, I had a successful reinstall, it looks like icon and jpg problems were a result of installing drivers on system with more than 1gb of ram(with patch).
  20. I just had this same problem with an 855pm chipset laptop. I was using the machine inf's from this forum somewhere (ich23456). All I did was use Intels 5.00 chipset installer and the icons appeared. Didn't work on the i865 though.
  21. Haven't tried FF 9 before this. Seems to work better than 8 or 10. I'll take a look at the registry for jpg ect. and compare it to a working system.
  22. I tried Palmoon 3.6.32, same problem. I tried other firefox 3.x, ATI agp, now using unoffical nvidia 7800gs & drivers, with and without RP9 and autopatcher and updates. I'm gonna look closer at the bios, cpu settings. I'm using Pentium E5800
  23. I decided to buy the Asrock 775i65G motherboard. Installed Windows 98se,sp3x, Firefox 3.6.28 just as I did on my other machines. Everthing's fine except there's just blank spaces where the reload, home, ect. icons should be. Images don't load either, just says "thumbnail" where pic should be. Haven't had this problem in years-when using IE6. Don't remember what the solution was. BTW, icons and pics work in IE6. Searched around and couldn't find a solution. With Firefox 8 & 10, icons show up, but I like 3.6 for it's speed, bookmarks, ect. Does anybody have suggestions?
  24. I agree with drugwash, someone has removed all traces of 98 files. I have found Intel PROset 8.0.0-8.0.0.167 A 21.6mb exe installer which has been cleverly disabled. Search for 95358_95358.exe, it's free. Says "cannot be unpacked....has been corrupted". Someone (intel?) has put one line of code into it to prevent unpacking. Disassembled with IDA pro problem list: Address .text:00407EE3 NODISASM jb short loc_407E70 If someone knows how to remove this and reassemble the exe we might have something.
