  1. That's all fine and dandy... but it doesn't really help others. Do you think you could write a guide so that others might be able to follow your instructions? Not to mention that there are people who can get the same with Office 2003....
  2. I dont' have either the refresh or shdoclc.dll problems here, either with IE, FF, or Opera. I do have another problem... possibly. My avatar isn't showing up. I'm not sure if this was a change that was made last night, or just a temporary bug... Tested in Opera and IE. Same problem in both. Refreshed, cleared browser cache, and all that jazz....
  3. aspenjim has good advice. Start off by making a UA install. Just plain old XP installing on its own. Once you've got that working, then you can move on to including application installs. As for what you've got there, the entry in the cmdlines.txt must be the exact same as the file name, and it is case sensitive. If the file is named RunOnceEx.cmd, enter "RunOnceEx.cmd". If it's named runonceex.cmd, the enter "runonceex.cmd". You've been going back and forth between using capitalizations and not.
  4. Dude... didn't you notice how your other thread got closed? Link Post in the monthly desktop section... it's a sticky at the top of the forum.
  5. Wierd... I've got it on my laptop and I haven't installed any extra packs... Maybe it's XP Pro?
  6. @prathapml - Hehe... If only they spanned the load across all servers... everything would be that much faster... Did you find them on the main site? It seems to me like most of the "corporate" based distros (Suse, Slackware, FC) seem to only provide FTP downloads from their websites. I need to go to mininova.org or something of the sort to find them for BitTorrent.
  7. If it fits and the connectors are the same, then it'll work.
  8. I think I'm in a little over my head here... I've always noticed that the NTFS partitions always end up with 7MB after them... I have no idea why this is though. I'm afraid that you've probably got as much use out of me as you're ever going to. If you do figure out how to make things work, be sure to share your findings.
  9. Do most games only put registry entries in one branch? With RegShot, you can compare the before and after registries and create a file with the differences. This will also allow you to uninstall the game afterwards as well having reinstalled Windows, if you wish. 20 mins * 5400RPM/10000RPM * 310MB/2764MB = 1.2 mins... that makes sense... Thank you.
  10. Hmm... I managed to follow the guide again, using only Disc1 for the time being. Everything went smoothly, and I managed to delete all the files that weren't originally on the non-SP disc. In the end, the slipstreamed re-cabbed install comes out at just over 400MB... just like before. But I'm still missing the option to cache the install files....
  11. Yup... it's included by default in XP, but not in 2K.
  12. Azureus has tracker capabilities built in... If I can get it to work reasonably well then I might just end up using that for both tracking and downloading... dispite it using 100MB of RAM... I just want something to run as a basis that I can use for personal torrents, such as home made videos and the like.
  13. I'll have to check this out... Why don't they release these things on Bit Torrent...
  14. Check under the Advanced options. There are specific options to for writing and deleting.
  15. What "Happy Bunny" phrase are you? My Results: you suck and that's sad You are a very compassionate and sympathetic person. You use your divine sense of humor to cheer up a situation.
  16. Glad to be of help! It's great to have things take care of themselves from now on, isn't it?
  17. I'm looking for a good, simple BitTorrent Tracker program. I know that there are lots and lots of clients out there (I'm using uTorrent right now ), but I'm not sure what tracker is better than the other. I found this guide, but it says that it's not recommended with "so many other options available". I've just got no clue as to what those options are... I found BitComet Tracker as well, but I can't seem to figure out how to use it... maybe I'm just brain dead when it comes to this. I've got a dynamic domain, so that shouldn't be a problem, and I know all about port forwarding. Any help would be appreciated.
  18. That would probably work... I'll test it out tomorrow. Thanks!
  19. Fixed. I'm not sure if the two are related, but the "Check Length" button for location still says that 50,000 characters are allowed for the length of the location...
  20. I don't really like the idea of a Multisession disc because more space is taken up by the extra session. This can be anywhere from 20 to 50MB. With my method, if you need to make the image on CDs, you don't run the risk of the last image file not fitting along with the Rescue CD contents. I think I get what you're saying... Install the game to D: and use a program like RegShot to capture the registry entries that are made by the installer. That way, when you re-install Windows, simply import the reg file and the game will work again? I've never tried this... I don't game much... I don't think that my computer is "slow" by any means. Pentium-M 1.4GHz (approximately equivalent to P4 2.4GHz) 1GB PC2700 DDR RAM 80GB 5400RPM 8MB HD Just for comparison... how much stuff do you have on your C drive? People who have been here for a while know that you use nLite and like to use small and standalone programs as much as possible... I've got 5GB of installed programs which results in a 2.7GB image after 20 minutes. Even 7-zip or WinRAR would take a while to give you the same kind of compression ratio. For the record, Acronis does not make a full backup of the data contained in the pagefile or the hibernation file. You gain absolutely nothing by disabling these in terms of time or space before creating the image. In fact... I just ran Acronis again in my VM, once with a 768MB pagefile and once without. With pagefile: 659,318 KB Without pagefile: 659,389 KB I know we're talking about KB here, but still, I think you can see my point. As for the pagefile on C: being bad... I'll keep it short. I have one hard drive (it's a laptop after all). You only gain performance by moving the pagefile to a drive that is on a different IDE channel than your system drive. I don't have this option, so there's no point whatsoever for me to put the pagefile on another partition on my hard drive.
  21. Oh... I thought you were working from scratch. Never mind then...
  22. That's interesting. (and a lot of number crunching) However, the calculation for chess (albeit a large number of possibilities, is limited by the way in which the pieces could move. In theory, you could move every chess piece such that you switched sides with your opponent, but you'd surely find a way to put them in checkmate by then...
  23. A really handy app to help deal with Temp files is CleanIt. It runs on startup clearing out the temp folder. After that, you're done!
  24. This doesn't deal with rebuilding the icon cache... Try this... Right-click My Computer->Properties->Advanced->Performance->Settings Make sure check marks are beside "Use Common Tasks in folders" and "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop". If they are already there, uncheck them, and then recheck them. Click OK to get out of all the Windows. Any change?
