    I have bravely gone where no man has gone before (only because no else uses Vista ....lol), but I have installed the update for July. Nothing blue up. My system works.

    Hmmmm for IE9 x64, I have KB4339093 All of the regular updates are simpatico. the only .NET update I install is for the integrated 2x/3x build, so I have KB4338611. I never saw the registry patch.

    I have downloaded the latest Server 2012 updates, and although I won't be installing this month, here's the rundown: Security Only (KB4338820) IE10 (KB4339093) .NET v4.52 Security Only (KB4338601) Flash (KB4338832) Cheers All! :)

    I've been running the v28 Sneak Peak (not the last release, but the one before). It was the last one to show the old newtab page without the search bar. Is there any way to resotre this page on the upcoming beta? It uses smaller thumbnails, and I prefer it. Also I find YouTube vids only work if I stop the video (during the load process) and play it again. Otherwise, it just keeps loading. Great work Roytam!

    Very detailed analysis VistaLover. I thought it was claimed to be incompatible on their end, but couldn't be 100%. Very confusing. I'll trust my memory from now on. :)

    So here's what we know. Roytam1's builds of New Moon 28 x64 work and can use MP4 codecs out of the box. But Pale Moon 28 Beta does NOT work at all, despite Moonchild saying to the contrary. :o

    But does the MP4 codecs work without installing LAV codecs? Has anyone tried? I know that Roytam1's v28 builds work.

    So where was it defined (and it was) that UXP wound NOT work under Vista? Because it seemed to create a lot of FUD.

    It appears Vista WILL run Pale Moon 28 according to Moon-Marcus. https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=19524 Go figure. Now just to get codecs working in the x64 version.

    Seems Moonchild has different ideas on Pale Moon 28 support for Vista. https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=19524 It appears now that (despite features being limited on Vista) that Pale Moon 28 WILL run. Perhaps Basilisk won't, but Pale Moon will. Now I'd like to find a way to get MP4 codecs works on the x64 production version. :(

    I've been running the New Moon 28 Sneak Peek for a few days now. I upgraded to the last build from a day or so ago, but the New Tab Page changed a tad (it added a Search bar like Australis builds did and increased the size of thumbnails). I went back to the previous v28 build and that's running great. Apparently, the v27 builds now work again with Facebook, but I find that v28 works so well, that I'm going to stay put. :)

    Well that does instill some confidence. I must admit though I am REALLY concerned with NoelC's findings. I thought that Windows 8 felt slower in March before I switched back to Vista on this old PC. And Vista seems more sluggish than I once remember it being. The only hope is that the cumulative update that NoelC installed had some other crap in it that is slowing him down. Whereas, I was only installing the Security Only update.

    What I had planned to do this time around was, install Windows 8, install all of the updates up to the point of EOL (January 2016), and then start with the most recent manual updates. I would install all of December 2017, then November, then October, ...etc .... Eventually there are superseded updates that won't require installation, because I installed them in a newer patch. Does anyone think that's a good strategy? I thought it might keep the component store smaller, and only install updates I really need.

    I installed New Moon 28. Works great on Vista. Renders a good deal better (and slightly faster). My tabs (when using the FoxE9 add-on) tend to look a bit big, but I'll live ....lol

    But now it's not working properly again on Facebook. You can't choose reactions and videos seem to go full screen play with no transport controls. I extracted Roytam1's 28x pre-release version. It works pretty much perfectly.
