  1. Some are still appearing though. I tried Status4Evar, and it appears https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/?src=ss FoxE9 still appears too https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/foxe9/?src=search
  2. Except there will now be paid support offered for Windows 7 Enterprise customers until January 2023. So I wonder if you could use those updates on Windows 7 Professional?
  3. This is a text file I saved back in February 2016 called "Updates I Skipped on Windows 8.txt" KB3163589 Out of Date Notification KB2976978 Compatibility Update for Windows 8.0 and 8.1 Update KB2975331 August 2014 Update Rollup - Microsoft recommended uninstalling because of boot issues - no benefits to desktop use anyway KB3058168 May need to be removed - allows upgrade to Windows 10 KB3008273 Allows automatic upgrade to Windows 8.1 KB2822241 Forces automatic restarts after performing Windows Update KB3105216 Older build of Adobe Flash Player KB2901982 .NET Framework v4.5.2 But I appreciate your looking out for me :)
  4. Well on the PC I'm running now (my HP xw8200), I was going to install Windows 8.1 Pro x64 (this was back three years ago), but there was a CPU incompatibility with my Netburst Xeons. It's discussed in another thread. So I sourced Windows 8 x64 Pro, and it worked. So I stayed with it, and then I found out about all of the GWX stunts, added telemetry and CPU blocking that Microsoft started pulling with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, and said to myself, "Hmmmmmm, now that I have 2012 updates working on it, I'll stay with Windows 8, since the OS isn't affected by all of that nonesense" Besides, other than the improvement in metro apps or booting to the desktop (which Classic Shell does anyway), there was very little that changed in the "Explorer" (desktop) portion of the OS. So I decided to stick with it, and vowed that my next machine would use it too. Until I changed machines, I decided to go back to Vista back in March just to try out the updates from 2008. I just wanted to briefly flirt with it, but I'm ready to set up a machine that I can now use happily for the next five years.
  5. I guess my question is, does DRM work in New Moon and MyPal? I would think that if it doesn't work in Pale Moon, then it wouldn't work in New Moon either. Is this correct @roytam1?
  6. Well had I been staying with Vista, I would have only installed updates for .NET v2 and v3, and for IE9. Even when I go to Windows 8, I'm only updating up to December 2017 for now. The updates have not been all that stable. :(
  7. Sure thing. I'll be over at the other thread I started "Server 2012 Updates on Windows 8" :)
  8. Well I have downloaded (but not installed) the latest Windows 8 Updates (ahem! Server 2012 patches) KB4457140 KB4457426 (IE10) KB4457146 (Flash) KB4457029 (.NET 4.5.2) Next week, I switch back to Windows 8, but I'll only be installing the IE 10 update from this list.
  9. I'm switching out my PC this weekend, and moving to Windows 8 permanently, so I won't be taking part in Vista updates any further. I want to also extend a thanks while I'm at it, the @roytam1who's x64 browser builds were a life saver. I'll be also switching to Quantum v60 ESR next week. It was fun! :)
  10. Hmmmm! (regarding NetFlix now working on the Moon derivatives.) Don't know what to tell you there
  11. Well Pale Moon does not support DRM - that's a known fact: https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=20160&p=149745&hilit=drm#p149745 https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=19905&p=147544&hilit=drm#p147544 (look halfway down the page) https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=19621&p=145336&hilit=drm#p145336 (post #7 by Doofy) https://forum.palemoon.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16301&p=143705&hilit=drm#p143705 From MoonMutt himself : "Woof! woof! woof!" (oh wait let me turn on Google Translate, here we go!) "Pale Moon has not, does not, and will not support in-browser DRM." The Pale Moon team has spoken.
  12. Isn't DRM disabled on Pale Moon - and thus also on New Moon and My Pal? Moonchild made a huge ideological stance against DRM.
  13. Yes Comodo AV is running on my mom's XP box, so I can 100% confirm this.
  14. @roytam1Would I be correct in assuming that you're no longer updating Tycho builds?
  15. @Chronius: Good Sleuthing. It's from March alright. Uninstalling it. Hang tight! UPDATE !!!! It worked! Bang On @Chronius. You sir are the bomb. Wow! I guess there really is no sense installing updates past December 2017. It matters none whether it's Vista, Windows 7 or even Windows 8 and 8.1. @NoelC- I just put you here so you'd see this. It seems your advice stands!
  16. Wow! I wonder what the equivalent is in Server 2008 (as in SP2 - not R2) EDIT: Just to clarify - nothing turns up in Google. Just the fix for Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 (which is KB4099467)
  17. Well more creedence to @NoelC's theory that something has gone wrong with these updates. I have noticed on Vista (on which I was using Server 2008 updates), that I get a BSOD on logout from my desktop session. Restarting the system works fine. I only get these BSODs upon clicking Log Off. Now it appears that a number of people on Windows 7 have received this issue. It seems to start around the March area, so could updates be responsible. I have noticed it in the last month or so. :(
  18. I find performance in XP and 2000, using PAE mode, takes a slight performance hit though. Do you even need more than 4 GB in Windows 2000? The OS foot print is small.
  19. In your particular case @SRainharp I would disable Superfetch, but keep Prefetch. Vista was slow in relinquishing RAM used for cache to be available for applications. HOWEVER - do not disable the Superfetch service. Instead, go to the registry and change it there. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters Change EnableSuperfetch to "0". Now restart Vista. By the way, I don't charge "cache" for my advice (har hardy har har) :p ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've also rid of widgets, indexing (Windows Search Service) and Terminal Server. But remember, I vLite'd my installation DVD. I also run Ultimate, but mine probably runs just as well as Home Premium or something lesser. And I didn't want to worry about CPU or Aero restrictions on "junior" versions.
  20. I wonder if it's server code, rather than for the base OS.
  21. OK Basilisk 55, you can do it - Basilisk 55 says ............................... :) Ummmmmm Naw
  22. Trying New Moon v27.9.4 with a new profile, and now for a smilie :) ........................... D'OH! :(
  23. I tried creating a new profile, and tried New Moon 27. Walmart Canada shows the prices and "cart" buttons. I upgrade to 28 - sure enough it still works. So my old profile must be all bunged up. But now I notice that Facebook seems faster on New Moon 27. Hmmmmmm - Me thinks I'll go back to it perhaps.
  24. That's New Moon? Are you on 27 or 28?
  25. Are there any obvious tips to make Basilisk 55 render as fast as New Moon? I've modified the initialpaintdelay and content.notify settings to match what I have in New Moon. I've also reduced the max network connections to 250 (like in New Moon) EDIT: Turns out I'm an id*** - No not in the way @jaclaz or @submix8c used to think (kidding kidding). But the reason I had slowdowns? I had set the Max Entry Size for cached items to "1" instead of what I intended which was "-1" (for unlimited size. Now performance is much more comparable to New Moon. :p Whew!
