You're welcome! And thank you for your contribution here! I do appreciate every new recommendation. Here is the last working link of Anti Tracks' homepage: https://web.archive.org/web/20150311172759/http://www.giantmatrix.com/ I will check it. I never used it before and I don't know whether it is XP-compatible or not. We will see. But thanks again! Cheers, AstroSkipper

Malwarebytes Premium works great in my Windows XP Professional SP3 system. No crashes, Malwarebytes is doing what I has configured, no disempowerment of the user and regular definition updates several times a day. And if you then have a lifetime licence, what more do I want in my Windows XP computer?

Here is a review of Panda Free Antivirus from November 2022, so still quite up-to-date, but in any case better than any experiences from 2015: https://www.lifewire.com/panda-free-antivirus-review-1356582 Cheers, AstroSkipper

To all readers of my thread! To avoid the impression that this is a Kaspersky thread , I would like to say a few words about this matter, although I find this topic tiring and sufficiently discussed by now without having received any new information about this abandoned, last version Kaspersky Free Antivirus from 2018 targeting Windows XP. All about Kaspersky has already been discussed in the old thread "Which Antiviruses are Known for a Fact to be Working on XP SP3 as of 2019?", where I was even courteous enough to provide a very rare installer for Kaspersky Free Antivirus 2019, which I had previously cleaned and thus decontaminated, but no longer works under Windows XP, as it turned out. Anyway! Here we go! MSFN is of course internationally frequented, but it is a forum that is localised in France and therefore in Europe. France, Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Poland, Lithuania and many other European countries warn against the use of Kaspersky due to significant security concerns. Even more harshly, the USA classifies the products of Kaspersky, considers them dangerous and blacklists Kaspersky antivirus as a risk to national security. The related facts, announcements and links can be found very easily on the internet. But they are known to everyone after such a long time anyway. And for such a software product, I will not make any further effort and waste my time. In any case, all this cannot and must not be ignored by an open mind. Just for clarification, I have created an internal list of security programmes, which now contains over 70 programmes. These will be presented here one by one whenever I have time to research, check and write. As always, real life comes first. Kaspersky was originally also on this internal list because I want to present all options for Windows XP. But I changed my mind about Kaspersky and removed it from my internal list. And not to get confused in this thread, here is my original post with the title "Subject: Kaspersky" once again: So, Kaspersky is history for me, and I no longer consider it an option for Windows XP. I am the creator of this thread here. I will form and fill it with contents as I see fit and can justify to myself. Anyone, who doesn't like that, can always create their own thread and post there whatever they have to say. Greetings from Europe, Germany, AstoSkipper

Subject: Panda Free Antivirus Some months ago, I had carried out my own tests with the result that Panda Free Antivirus detected and deleted my test malware. In a real Windows system, not in a VM. So, I can confirm that Panda Free Antivirus is fully working. It is one of the rare antimalware ptogrammes which are still up-to-date and still receive programme updates under Windows XP. However, we all know the real security problem is very often in front of the computer. In such cases, a good programme like Panda Free Antivirus can't help anymore, either. Cheers, AstroSkipper

Welcome to MSFN and my thread! Thank you very much for your nice compliment! I will continue when I have more time available. Researching, checking, and writing is very time-consuming, unfortunately. Greetings from Germany to Belgium, AstroSkipper

Hello @winvispixp! This is very important. My thread about security programmes is targeting Windows XP only. You can see that easily in the headline of this thread, in my first, introducing post, and once again here: Apart from that, we are here in the Windows XP forum. Kind regards, AstroSkipper

Unfortunately, you did. This sentence is written in inverted commas and in the first person. Thus, you speak in my place. I said: "one" is an impersonal pronoun and therefore does not refer to you personally. AstroSkipper

You seem to like putting words in other people's mouths. Unfortunately, you can only fail with that, unless one is a comedian or a clairvoyant. Fifteen months ago, I couldn't care less what was going on with Kaspersky. I didn't and don't use this programme anyway. A few months ago, I wrote about the warning from BSI in the old antivirus thread. And now, I have come to the decision already posted. I'm actually listing all the available security programmes for Windows XP here in this thread, but Kaspersky will definitely not be on my list anymore. No more and no less.

Simply put, the world-wide situation which is changing from minute to minute. As you surely know, we are not allowed to talk here about war and politics. Therefore, no deeper explanations from me on my decision, they are actually obvious and need no further motivation at this point, either.

Of course! And you see I did. Don't speak for others, speak for yourself! What others are interested in or not you can't really know. Such statements are speculative and meaningless. I did not overlook the different warnings at all. I already reported the warning from BSI months ago in the old antivirus thread. As I already wrote in my previous post, a more in-depth consideration at this point cannot be carried out due to our forum rules. Maybe, you overlooked it. AstroSkipper

Subject: Kaspersky In Germany, the "Bundesamt für Sicherheit und Information (BSI)", in English the "Federal Office for Information Security (BSI)", had already warned against the use of anti-virus software from the Russian manufacturer Kaspersky on 15 March 2022: https://www.bsi.bund.de/DE/Themen/Unternehmen-und-Organisationen/Cyber-Sicherheitslage/Technische-Sicherheitshinweise-und-Warnungen/Warnungen-nach-Par-7/Archiv/FAQ-Kaspersky/faq_node.html (German website, use an online translator!). I already reported the warning from BSI months ago in the old antivirus thread. In the meanwhile, I have changed my mind and now share the official concerns about Kaspersky. Thus, I have removed Kaspersky Antivirus from my internal list and will not write an article about this programme anymore. In these times, one cannot seriously entrust the security of one's computer to such a programme due to its origin. A more in-depth consideration at this point cannot be carried out due to our forum rules. Kind regards, AstroSkipper

ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use
AstroSkipper replied to AstroSkipper's topic in Windows XP
I corrected all links to images in my main article "ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use": Due to the length of my article and our forum editor, it was not as easy as I thought, though. But now, all images should open better again. If you still find errors, please report them here! Thanks! Cheers, AstroSkipper- 922 replies

Very funny! But all joking aside, here is the corrected version: There is no jury here. And therefore there is no verdict. You can only get information here. And since you're the only one who asked, I can only answer you first. Here is a hint once again: I used Sygate Personal Firewall under Windows ME and for a while under Windows XP. It was my favourite firewall for a long time in the old days. It is still installed in my Windows ME partition which I never deleted for historical reasons. I used the German version Sygate Personal Firewall Platinum 5.5.2307.0 from 2004. Later, I changed to the English version Sygate Personal Firewall Pro 5.6.3408.0 from 2005. Due to some reasons, I stopped using it under Windows XP. Sygate Personal Firewall could not recognise certain processes that wanted to connect to the Internet via other processes, such as web filtering processes. There were no more updates, and the problems could accordingly no longer be fixed. In addition, there were no more definition updates. So I switched to more modern firewalls with a heavy heart. Presumably, due to Sygate's age, IPv6 support is also missing. In a nutshell, Sygate Personal Firewall is too old (abandoned 2005), it is therefore not on my list, and I won't write an article about it, unfortunately. It is still a good firewall for Windows ME (or Windows 98), but IMHO definitely no longer an option for Windows XP.

My Browser Builds (Part 4)
AstroSkipper replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Yep! And it is even possible to answer such a request by quoting, copying and inserting it into one of the numerous Chrome threads. -
Thanks for your reply, @Tangy! You talk about your personal, subjective experiences, but you haven't written what they are. So what are your own experiences when using SUPERAntiSpyware? And of course, I don't mean what others have written. The thread in Wilders Security Forums is relatively meaningless. A few negative, a few positive, all rather lacking in content and the last pages, which are somewhat more recent, only contain update information. Everything before that is outdated and irrelevant. Unfortunately, this is not a quotable source, but rather for the bin. As you said, it is a video in Portuguese. There are no English or German subtitles. Only an automatic translation which is awful. And what is tested there is nothing official and unfortunately total nonsense. If you had done a little more research, you would have noticed that SUPERAntiSpyware is not a complete antivirus programme and should only be used in addition. So what is tested in the video is obviously nonsense and can only lead to disaster. Unfortunately, this kind of video is dubious and should be taken with a grain of salt. Apart from that, this is an English speaking forum. Please post videos in English only! I do not post videos in German here, either. Nevertheless, thanks for your good will! You're welcome! Glad to hear you like my thread. Cheers, AstroSkipper
