  1. Hello @Saxon! Thanks for your reply! Your quote refers to version Comodo Firewall 12.0.0.6818 and is therefore version 12. However, I referred to version Comodo Firewall 8.4.0.5165 which is obviously version 8 and therefore older. In this thread, a member has also confirmed what I once read in the Comodo forum and therefore wrote to you: TBH, I have not been a fan of Comodo for a long time, and it's a long time ago when I used it. Furthermore, I do not plan to test this firewall. As I already wrote, my firewall is Windows 10 Firewall Control Free XP 7.5.105.217 from Sphinx, and I am not about to uninstall it for testing purpose. If anyone was interested in testing Comodo Firewall 8.4.0.5165, that would be great, of course.
  2. DreamMail Pro - Update information! DreamMail Pro has been updated again and is now available in version 6.6.6.11. It is still XP-compatible, and the development is ongoing! I have not been able to find a version history on their homepage. Therefore, I generated an official version history translated to English and provide it here: And here is the download link of DreamMail Pro 6.6.6.11: https://dl.cy-email.com/dm6/Download/dmpro_setup6.6.6.11.exe To force the updated installer of DreamMail Pro 6.6.6.11 to use English instead of Chinese as the installer language, I updated again my small loader that does this when it calls up the setup program. It must be executed in the same directory in which the setup file is located with its original file name dmpro_setup6.6.6.11.exe. Here is the download link of my loader Force_En_Install_DM_Pro_66611.exe: https://www.mediafire.com/file/lvg9qtaqt6voii4/Force_En_Install_DM_Pro_66611.7z/file Although some virus scanners detect this file as malicious, it is just a false-positive as always. Use my loader to force an English install, only if you trust me, of course! Cheers, AstroSkipper
  3. Why should I feel discredited? Such renaming by using the console is elementary and old practice. I already did it that way in the good old DOS days. But if batch renaming other parts of files, I always use the multi-rename tool of Total Commander.
  4. Hello @Saxon! As I already wrote here, users reported in the Comodo Forum that the last error-free working version under Windows XP has been Comodo Firewall 8.4.0.5165. Have you really tried this version? Actually, it should work under Windows XP.
  5. Hello @WSC4! Of course, you have to make your own experiences. I would recommend starting with New Moon 28, based on Pale Moon, and Serpent 52, based on Basilisk. That's what I am using under Windows XP mainly. BTW, you can easily open a session with 20 tabs or more, but it is not a good idea to open them all at once. I use the extension Lull The Tabs to keep them in an unloaded state until I need one of them. Doing so, New Moon and Serpent consume much less resources. Greetings, AstroSkipper
  6. The updated version 2.75 of CurrPorts now supports new IP-Location files. Read these release notes if interested in:
  7. Update notification! CurrPorts has been updated on 05.06.2023 and is now available in version 2.75. It is still listed to be compatible with Windows XP. Accordingly, I'll update my article as soon as possible. Cheers, AstroSkipper
  8. I added the official link to the offline updater spybotsd_includes.exe for antispyware definitions and corresponding update instructions to my article about SpyBot - Search & Destroy Free Edition. Cheers, AstroSkipper
  9. Update notification! Malware Hunter has been updated on 17.07.2023 and is now available in version 1.169.0.787. It is still listed to be compatible with Windows XP. Accordingly, I updated my article. Cheers, AstroSkipper
  10. FYI, Ultra Adware Killer has been updated to the version 10.7.9.0 on 20.07.2023. I tested this version under Windows XP. Unfortunately, the versions 10.7.8.0 and 10.7.9.0 are no longer compatible with Windows XP although some websites, as for example Softpedia, still list the most recent version 10.7.9.0 falsely as compatible. Therefore, the last XP-compatible version seems to be 10.7.7.0. Accordingly, I changed the provided download link, which would otherwise point to an XP-incompatible version, and updated my article completely. Cheers, AstroSkipper
  11. However, interesting would be now what you think about the reactivation of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro 1.75.0.1300. Did you already test it?
  12. Ok! Thanks for clarification! AstroSkipper
  13. Here is a quotation from BackgroundCMD's website: Your "proper" "command prompt here" does nothing different from Total Commander's "solution" "Open command prompt window". I personally do not use the Windows Explorer for file management but Total Commander. And I don't like too much unnecessary entries in the context menu. Therefore, I can't see why such a solution is not as proper as yours. I think the following rule applies: AstroSkipper
  14. TBH, I never fear anything. I thought this temporary issue was because of a network connection problem at your location. It's that simple.
  15. ... But now : Before I changed the link yesterday, I also checked it, as I always do. It worked perfectly. And today as well. No problem here to access the Malwarebytes box. Here is a screenshot as a proof when accessing this site via New Moon 28: I fear something has gone wrong on your side. Check the link again! Cheers, AstroSkipper
  16. Right! This function does not exist in Windows XP SP3 natively but in Total Commander. You can easily open a CMD window in whatever folder you want by clicking onto the entry Open command prompt window. It is located under the menu bar item Commands.
  17. Thanks for this information! However, I rename files using the multi-rename tool of Total Commander. This file manager can do much more than that, of course.
  18. The mature readers of my thread, who are really using and interested in security programmes under Windows XP, can speak for themselves They do not need a mouthpiece . Especially not if that person has given up Windows XP a long, long time ago (and apparently even Vista some years ago) and surfs the internet exclusively with an iPhone. If there are any questions, these readers can and will certainly ask them here themselves! Cheers, AstroSkipper
  19. As requested, the link to the Installer of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.75.0.1300 has been changed by me although it was the official link from Malwarebytes itself. Now, all readers who want to download this installation programme must click on this link themselves. Of course, I already wrote about that in this thread.
  20. Especially in a thread whose title is "Latest Version of Software Running on XP", I prefer a download link when specifying the latest XP-compatible version, and I also find this very helpful for the reader. Actually, this should not be a problem if you have already researched anyway. Personally, I am a friend of thoroughness. And I know you are too.
  21. Hope you're taking the heat well at your place. If I'm still missing something obvious, please enlighten me ... I think the reason was to provide a download link which was missing for the SQLiteStudio 3.1.1 in that previous post.
  22. https://community.chocolatey.org/packages/sqlite-studio.portable/3.1.1 Or you can use the Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20180321163436/https://sqlitestudio.pl/files/sqlitestudio3/complete/win32/sqlitestudio-3.1.1.zip
  23. Panda Antivirus is great, free of charge and even offers a real-time protection. I used Panda some months, was totally satisfied and didn't have any problems with it. Unfortunately, I can't install more than one antimalware programme with real-time protection in a Windows XP partition, though. And I personally prefer Malwarebytes inevitably due to my lifetime licence. And just for clarifcation, I always mean what I say or write, contrary to some others. Anyway! Ultimately, however, the mature reader must decide for himself what he wants to use or not. And this also applies to me, of course. In this thread, I only provide information and in a few cases either warnings or recommendations, all to the best of my knowledge and belief.
  24. Hello, all loyal readers! I am very happy to have loyal readers who still use Windows XP and are interested in security programmes which work under this OS in these days.
