  1. Update notification! CurrPorts has been updated on 13.12.2023 and is now available in version 2.77. It is still listed to be compatible with Windows XP. Accordingly, I'll update my article as soon as possible. Cheers, AstroSkipper PS: My article about CurrPorts can't be updated at the moment due to the broken MSFN post editor. Maybe, one day when it has been fixed.
  2. Supposing is unfortunately never enough. And what about Windows XP 32-bit? Windows Vista is not the topic here. You stated in a previous post: Which version of Panda Free Antivirus and which operation system did you refer to? You surely know this thread is about Windows XP. Such unspecific statements only confuse the readers of this thread. More details, please!
  3. Update notification! Panda Free Antivirus has been updated on 27.12.2023 and is now of version 22.02.01. Thus, I'll update my article and my list in terms of Panda Free Antivirus. Maybe. one of you can test the new version first of all under Windows XP SP3 32 bit to be sure it is still compatible as advertised here: https://www.pandasecurity.com/en/homeusers/windows-antivirus/ This is a quotation from this website: And again, such a confirmation would be great as we all already know, the proof is in the pudding. Cheers, AstroSkipper
  4. Update notification! Malware Hunter has been updated on 05.03.2024 and is now available in version 1.180.0.800. I have tested this version on my system, and it is still compatible with Windows XP. Accordingly, I've updated my article and my list. Cheers, AstroSkipper
  5. Which version do you refer to? And don't forget this thread is about security programmes under Windows XP only. The last time, when I installed Panda Free Antivirus under Windows XP 32-bit, all was fine. No problems at all.
  6. On one XP partition, I am using Malwarebytes Premium 3.5.1.2522, and on the other one, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Pro 1.75.0.1300 due to the lifetime license I own for many years. If I didn’t have this lifetime license and preferred a free antimalware programme, I would choose Panda Free Antivirus on Windows XP.

  8. That's very wise. Some combinations of these programmes are possible but more than one real-time scanner can cause problems as you surely know.
  9. Here is what I already stated about AVG AntiVirus Free months ago:: My advice: Forget about AVG!
  10. @shelby Just a question. Do you use all these security programmes at once, i.e. in the same XP partition?
  11. Thanks! Which version of Ultra Virus Killer did you install in Windows XP? As you may know, the last XP-compatible version is 11.9.8.0 as I stated in my article about Ultra Virus Killer. When I tested this version for writing my article, I didn't get such a message.
  12. Where did you get this information? It usually comes in two versions, the free version Malware Hunter and the commercial version Malware Hunter Pro. As already described in my article, the features real-time protection and automatic updates are only available in Malware Hunter Pro. Actually, Glarysoft Malware Hunter Pro has a 30-day free trial period. After that, you must purchase a license for the software to use all its professional features. That means you can use it as an on demand scanner when the trial period has expired.
  13. Please, translate such kind of messages! This is an English speaking forum, and not all are proficient in the Greek language.

  15. Yep! However, I deactivated the file PromoUtil.exe in my installation when I used this security programme. Less pop-ups and less RAM consumption. The problem with all recent 360 Total Security versions is the quality of their scanners since they don't use Avira and Bitdefender scan engines any longer but unfortunately their own ones, 360 Cloud Scan Engine, 360 QVMII AI Engine, QEX and KunPeng. Read this review here: https://www.safetydetectives.com/best-antivirus/360-total-security/ And once again, please provide more information when you do a request! One image and a few words are simply too few.
  16. What I can say in any case is that Mypal 68.13.7b is also affected by this issue. And after a short test, Mypal 68.13.3b is affected by these sporadic crashes, too. All in single-process mode. In multiprocess mode, on the other hand, Mypal 68.13.7b doesn't seem to crash on Codeberg.org, i.e. just as in Mypal 68.13.9b. Greetings, AstroSkipper
  17. Among other things! Try to scan a couple of files! Check the RAM consumption and the CPU usage using a tool like Process Hacker! In short, check the scanner abilities and the whole programme performance! At least, I would do that to get an impression whether the programme is any good.
  18. Who cares what the security center of Windows is able to recognise. Disable the corresponding notifications respectively the antivirus monitoring! What's more important is that it works and how it performs.
  19. I'm sure the readers and myself would be very pleased if the information you provide was presented in a little more detail. What exactly did you test? How did you determine that no connection to the cloud servers was established? And so on. People want to be able to understand and judge what exactly you have investigated and how you came to your conclusions. BTW, have you already tested the most recent version 360 Total Security 11.0.0.1083? On its homepage, it is claimed to be still XP-compatible.
  20. I already did such kind of modifications in the past. As you surely know, the email client MailNews is actually only offered in the English language. Last year, I created a German language pack for MailNews from scratch. Additionaly, I had to add the German locale to MailNews's embedded calendar Lightning which is inside the omni.ja file and has to be modified separately. So, all a bit more complicated than usual. The effort was manageable in the end, however, translating is, as always, very time-consuming and a bit of hell. That said I am now able to switch between the English and German language even though the translation isn't complete yet. Too much other projects. And I do all translations manually and not automated to preserve the translation quality and to avoid generating syntax errors in the code. And yes, of course, separate extensions are easier to change and to test. Anyway! Have fun with your project!
  21. None of this is really helpful. Deactivate the Avira Scan Engine and check the Windows security center again! What is the status then? Next, let the programme scan a folder with files! Is a connection then established to the servers where the cloud scan engines are installed?
  22. I can't observe this problem in the most recent version of New Moon 28.10.7a1 (32-bit) (2024-02-23) with Palefill 1.28 enabled. This site seems to work. Here is a screenshot: Cheers, AstroSkipper Same applies to the most recent version of Serpent 52 with Palefill 1.28 enabled. No problems here as you can see in this screenshot: Cheers, AstroSkipper

  24. @feodor2 Did you observe sudden crashes in Mypal 68.13.9b when surfing on Codeberg.org? Unfortunately, I had to determine sudden crashes without any messages that occur completely randomly when clicking onto links on Codeberg's pages. However, only in single-process mode. All preference settings for single-process mode are set to the default values in my installation. In multiprocess mode, on the other hand, I could not observe such crashes. Any ideas?
  25. The third post contains an "Alphabetical list of programs that need to be tested for compatibility, features and support or whose installers have been lost". I think you mean the fourth post which contains the"Alphabetical list of programs that have recently been abandoned or should be avoided". But does 360 Total Security Essential 8.8.0.1119 really not work any longer? I personally assume it is still working but only cloud-based. Am I right? @shelby Is 360 Total Security Essential 8.8.0.1119 still working or not? Have you checked whether the cloud scan engines are still being used by the programme? I need more detailed information to maintain the list. Unfortunately, the information you have provided has been known for a long time and does not clarify the support status of this programme.
