  1. Double posting! The editor is out of control.
  2. But there's something else I keep asking myself. Why is your Windows XP 32-bit running SP2? After SP2 came SP3. And then hundreds of updates for SP3 and additionaly hundreds more POSReady updates. This means that in total (SP3 included) presumably at least 1000 updates are missing from a Windows XP SP2 system.
  3. Yes, a great tool. I also have been using it for years but an older professional version. And there is a further one from Nirsoft called BlueScreenView.
  4. When a BSOD occurs in my Windows XP system, the very first thing I do is to analyse the associated crash dump file via WinDbg which is a multipurpose debugger for the Microsoft Windows computer operating system, distributed by Microsoft. The blue BSOD screen itself is not really meaningful. WinDbg can identify all the files involved in the crash, in particular faulty drivers or modules from third-party providers, and has always helped me a lot in the past. However, I very rarely have BSODs in my systems. But with the help of such analyses, for example, I found out during my last BSOD that WiseVector StopX collided with 360Chrome, which immediately led to a solution. There is also this excellent site https://www.jasik.de/shutdown/stop_fehler.htm with information on almost all stop codes with help and more details. However, it is a German site, but the linked MSDN articles are in English. Apart from that, every page can be translated, of course.
  5. I can confirm no problems to perform this challenge successfully in New Moon 28.
  6. @Jody Thornton Have you installed Vista Home Basic on a computer equipped with a SSE only CPU? Probably not. I only ask you that because Mypal 68.12.8b is a release for such hardware exclusively. Testing this release on computers equipped with an at least SSE2 CPU is actually meaningless.
  7. Basically, I agree with you. As far as NoScript is concerned, I have extensive experience with this extension. I used it for many years in Firefox and later in Pale Moon. Unfortunately, there were always problems that only the developer could solve with an update. However, since there have been no updates for many years, I would do the devil to install it again. I've been using the combination of uBlock Origin and uMatrix or ηMatrix for many years, which works excellently and doesn't cause any of the problems that NoScript used to.
  8. Maybe - but I don't think even an old, unmaintained extension should be able to crash the browser! Looks like @roytam1 may have found a solution though. But in the case of NoScript it is. At that time I had crashes and problems with NoScript from time to time. And uBlock Origin or ηMatrix never managed that.
  9. Thanks for sharing your settings! Due to compatibility reasons, I removed the self-update function of the internal list of the default filter lists which are directly available after installation of uBlock Origin. This internal list is no longer maintained or updated by the developers and is unfortunately obsolete. Thus, I maintain this internal list in my releases by myself from now on. I know the source https://filterlists.com/ very well and installed a few filter lists from there in the past. So if there are still maintained filter lists that are particularly valuable or effective, I will add them to the default ones. Abandoned or not working illter lists will be removed if I am aware of. Both lists, EasyList (Optimized) and EasyPrivacy (Optimized), will be added in my coming release uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31 due to your positive experiences with them. Thanks again for your opinion!
  10. @VistaLover Do you think this filter list is worth to be added to the default lists of uBlock Origin? And are there others you would recommend to add to the default ones?
  11. At the moment, there is only one mod for checking, uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 from this post.. But another mod is coming very soon that is strictly orientated on version 1.16.4.31b2. It is my new release uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31.
  12. I was blocked on the XDA-dev site in exactly the same way as it was on the How-To-Geek site. And the same trick via Block Element works there, too. Thus, both rules are identical: ! 2024-01-13 https://www.howtogeek.com www.howtogeek.com##.bOvWNQ ! 2024-01-13 https://www.xda-developers.com www.xda-developers.com##.bOvWNQ
  13. Good idea! I forgot to use first the Block Element feature of uBO via context menu. Doing so the rule will be added automatically and result in your provided rule. Thanks for the hint!
  14. This is always to be expected with old, no longer really further developed extensions for UXP browsers & co. and is generally unavoidable. If it only affects a few pages, it's easy to get over. I will also test the two websites with my upcoming release uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31. @UCyborg First of all, the How-To-Geek website is a bit clumsy in New Moon 28 and leads to high processor utilisation on older, weak systems. For comparison purpose, I checked this site first in Mypal 68 with uBlock Origin 1.49.2 activated. Here is a screenshot with the filtering results: As you already stated, no problems there. The How-To-Geek website does not block uBlock Origin 1.49.2, and uBO does its job properly. Then, I checked this website in New Moon 28 with uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31 activated. Here is a screenshot with the filtering results: The How-To-Geek website recognises uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31 as an adblocker and prevents the loading of the actual content. That means uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31 works but it is simply blocked. Thus, one has to make some special settings in uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31 to get this website loading but without allowing all ads. Here are my settings I have made to block as many ads as possible: And that's something I can live with.
  15. I fear it is not really a problem of the browser but the extension NoScript which is unmaintained and lacking of updates for many years. Personally, I think it's time to say goodbye to NoScript unless someone is willing to develop it further.

  17. I used NoScript many years ago. But I kept having problems with it and had to reset it several times to get it running properly again. At some point, I had had enough. I have been using a combination of uBlock Origin and ηMatrix for years. This works perfectly and gives me full control over a website.
  18. Thanks for clarification!
  19. Thanks for replying! So you installed jetAudio 8.1.10 Basic and not jetVideo 8.1.10 Basic? When reading the description on their homepage, the jetAudio 8.1.10 Basic package mainly contains audio codecs. I would like to test it but I don't want to install the wrong package. So please, be so kind to provide the exact name of the package for installing the jetAudio Video decoder. Thanks in advance!
  20. Yes, there is. Try HLS Stream Detector 0.4.3! You will find it in the Classic Add-ons Archive via this link: caa:addon/hls-stream-detector. I used it in the past, and it worked great. Whether this extension is still working in these days, you simply have to test it yourself after installation. Please report here!
  21. Which one did you install from there? jetVideo 8.1.10 Basic?
  22. No. The file will be played according to the codec it contains. It has to be converted first to play at another resolution.
  23. BTW, Youtube Downloader HD 3.7 is still working under Windows XP 32-bit (tested yesterday). Thus, it will certainly work under Windows 7 32-bit, too.
  24. Yes! It is the laptop of my lady but I have to administrate it. I really don't know why. I decided to install Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and not 32-bit at that time. We all know Windows 7 is a more recent OS than Windows XP (which is still my favourite). When Windows 7 was released, a 64-bit CPU was already the standard. Therefore, no need to install Windows 7 32-bit on such hardware unless the CPU is really a 32-bit only model, which was no longer the standard at that time, though. BTW, did you try a bit older versions? For example, Youtube Downloader HD 4.2.1?
  25. No! You have to convert the local 1080p mp4 file before playing.
