  1. Thanks for pointing to IP Hider Pro! I have had this programme installed in my system for years and know it very well. However, I haven't used it for a long time as I have configured the VPN connections of my VPN services natively via L2TP and PPTP.
  2. No. I edited my already existing code for disabling the extensions' signature verification inside the file config.js which is located in Mypal 68's programme directory. This file has to be created by the user at some point and is already part of my package MYPAL_68_CB_requirements.7z among others.
  3. After manual deleting the leftovers from the removed search engines Bing, Wikipedia and stp (Startpage) in the addonStartup.json.lz4 file, these entries have never come back. So, editing of those files works. You simply have to know what is default (inside the source code) and what was added by yourself.
  4. @Milkinis @XPerceniol and those who never used OpenVPN under Windows XP! OpenVPN is one of different VPN protocols. The OpenVPN 2.5.4 executable is a VPN client programme to connect to special VPN servers. There are many VPN service providers. Only a few offer servers free of charge, most of them offer servers which have to be paid for. The user has to download special OpenVPN configuration files from these VPN service providers which have to be loaded by an OpenVPN client programme such as OpenVPN 2.5.4. These config files can additionally be edited to match the user's needs if you are familiar with the OpenVPN protocol and the used syntax which in turn depends on the installed OpenVPN version. And here is a link to many different documents about OpenVPN: https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn And (actually) just for testing purposes, here is a service called VPNBook which offers free VPN servers: https://www.vpnbook.com/freevpn In addition, here is a short guide how to setup OpenVPN to use VPNBook under Windows XP: https://www.vpnbook.com/howto/setup-openvpn-on-windowsxp Cheers, AstroSkipper
  5. Creating an own build is not necessary at all. Here is a download link for the installation programme: https://sourceforge.net/projects/openvpn-for-windows-xp/
  6. Right! This is a well-known problem that many users have already reported. Apart from that, the TAP-Win32 Adapter driver was officially discontinued for Windows XP years ago. The last version targeting Windows XP was v9.9.2_3. And it becomes particularly tricky when several such adapters have to be installed in the same system. I have already installed OpenVPN 2.5.4, a special, unofficial version for Windows XP, which contains the tap_v9.9.2_20220123_for_XP, a patched version of the TAP-Win32 Adapter v9.9.2. Thus, I try to avoid installing any further TAP-Win32 Adapters.
  7. I think Comodo TrustConnect is indeed a VPN service. Here is a quotation from their website: As you already said, it is a paid service. You will get only a short trial period free of charge. Unfortunately, they are keeping logs. Thus, when using this service, you are not really anonymous. And you have to install the TAP-Win32 Adapter. Here is a quotation from your linked pdf document: I don't like this TAP-Win32 Adapter. I had a lot of problems with it in the past. But anyway! Any choices targeting Windows XP are of course welcome. And we can't be that picky in Windows XP in these days due to the gradual extinction of alternatives. Fortunately, I still have a few paid services that still work on Windows XP.
  8. I would take such compatibility statements with a grain of salt. Someone could test this first. There are many such statements. But very often they are simply wrong in terms of Windows XP. It should be first checked in any case.
  9. All is good. I didn't consider your post off-topic. But such VPN implementions are simply too old and probably won't work in these days. The VPN protocols have changed completely on most servers and are no longer XP-compatible in most cases. Of course, the proof is in the pudding. Someone could test it.
  10. Comodo Internet Security 5.9 is from 2011/2012. So, it is very old. I doubt that these old VPN implementations still work at all today in Windows XP. VPN in Windows XP is a very specialised topic and has become very problematic.
  11. @XPerceniol I personally would urgently recommend to ignore such inofficial threads. This kind of "status update" is anything but informative and helpful. There is only amateurish conjecture and, as one could read very clearly in the past, rather nonsense and more than that was spread in this thread. The posters there are not aware of server problems and are not even able to check a server for availability via different services that exist en masse on the internet. Such threads are not alternatives and are more for disinformation and confusion, the germ of misleading rumours.
  12. Good news for all those who intend to use KeePassXC instead of KeePass. Thanks for the deeper insights! I am very satisfied with KeePass, though. Thus, I will stay with it as long as it works. I personally do not need any new features. But it is good to know there are alternatives.
  13. I couldn't find any status messsges on Facebook. It rather seems to be a dead account. Last official messages are from 2019 as far as I could see.
  14. I have written this article about Zemana Anti-Malware to the best of my knowledge and belief and as informatively as possible. For this purpose, I installed the programme on my second Windows XP partition, tested the basic functions and took screenshots. Now, I am curious about your opinions. Is there anyone here who is using this programme or has used it for some time in the last 6 years? I am interested in meaningful facts and useful information for potential users. PS: I had to write this post a second time as the original one suddenly no longer existed after the maintenance work here on MSFN.
  15. Maybe, you try for example the extension KeePassXC-Browser in version 1.8.5.1 for Firefox 67 and up instead of the more recent ones for Firefox 96 and up. Reducing the minimum Firefox requirements inside webextensions rarely works.
  16. TBH, I personally am completely satisfied with Kee. And KeePass also works well without Kee if you only retrieve previously saved login data. I never tried the combination of KeePassXC-Browser and KeePassNatMsg. But thanks for the insights when trying to fix the code! BTW, I avoid all webextensions which need an additional exe file in Windows due to their restrictions in Chrome/Firefox/Mypal 68. I don't like that at all.
  17. Stating the duration of a custom scan without the amount of files examined is unfortunately completely meaningless. 11 min for 1 GB, 11 min for 10 GB, or 11 min for 100 GB would lead to completely different evaluations. Anyway! Thanks for your good intentions!
  18. That's really nice of you to say, but what good are these screenshots going to do me? As I said, I installed RogueKiller on my computer many months ago. I know the interface very well, and your screenshots are unfortunately pretty meaningless without additional information. Much more important would be experience in using RogueKiller, information about the version you are using (portable or not, premium or free), your operating system, RAM and CPU utilisation, when RogueKiller is running, in terms of possible loss of performance, and in any case, to list both positive and negative points.
  19. Thanks for your suggestion! RogueKiller has been on my internal list for a long time. I installed it on my second Windows XP partition many months ago. This programme will also be the content of an article when the time is right. And that is unfortunately the problem.
  20. Zemana AntiMalware Zemana AntiMalware is a second opinion malware scanner designed to rescue your computer from malware that have infected a computer despite all the security measures one has taken. There's no need to tinker with confusing settings. With years of experience built-in, it just works "out of the box". Zemana AntiMalware is highly optimized and lightweight with virus definitions stored in the cloud, not cluttering up the local drive. Zemana AntiMalware can be used in two versions, Free or Premium. A valid license is only needed for the Premium version. Zemana AntiMalware 2.74.2.150 is the last compatible version with Windows XP. The more recent version v3 are no longer XP-compatible contrary to the information on the Zemana's homepage. Feature comparison Free vs. Premium: Homepage: https://zemana.com/us/antimalware.html Version number: 2.74.2.150 Date of release: 21.08.2017 System requirements: Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows Vista, Windows, Windows 7, Windows XP Release notes: https://zemana.com/us/whats-new3aa7.html?ProductID=2 Reviews: https://davescomputertips.com/zemana-antimalware-review/ https://www.wizcase.com/antivirus/zemana/ Download link: https://softradar.com/zemana-antimalware/2.74.2.150/ Screenshots: Zemana Anti-Malware is indeed a lightweight tool and IMHO, rather meant to be used as an additional security layer. It is definitely not a fully fledged antivirus or antimalware programme. Therefore, I personally would use it only as an on-demand scanner to get a second opinion even though the premium version offers a real-time protection after all which is either paid for or realised through a giveaway license. Zemana Anti-Malware uses cloud engines for local scanning. Thus, no local definition updates are needed but logically a working internet connection. What kind of scan engines it uses in these days is kept rather secret. There seem to be several, but the company's information policy is modest and rather disinformative. I have the impression that they don't want to show their cards anymore contrary to the past. Furthermore, the current version 3.2.28 is listed as XP-compatible. This is simply nonsense and misleading. All versions 3.x start directly with an error message under Windows XP and are therefore not XP-compatible. The good is the much older version 2.74.2.150 still works flawlessly under Windows XP in these days which has just been tested again by me. Cheers, AstroSkipper
  21. I have tested Malware Hunter in version 1.176.0.796 on my system, and it is still compatible with Windows XP. Accordingly, I updated my article and my list. Cheers, AstroSkipper
  22. Of course, I have been using KeePass for many years and still do so in these days. In Mypal 68, I use the extension Kee (formerly KeeFox). It does its job as advertised. Here is a link: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/keefox/
  23. Athough your post is actually quite off-topic in my thread about Mypal 68 , I can't agree with your judgement of Serpent. The CTR extension, which is available in a special version for Serpent, works perfectly and transforms a lot in this browser as it used to be. And of course, there is also the possibility to change the look and functionality of Serpent considerably via userChrome.css or scripts. Not to mention the many other extensions that exist for this browser.
  24. I know that feeling well. People like to ask questions here, but getting answers to own problems are much more difficult and rather rare. In your case, I'm not really surprised. You solve most problems yourself, leaving only the cases that require specialised knowledge. And these can only be answered by those who have specialised knowledge and skills. And there are only a few members like that in this forum. Most problems I have are usually solved by myself. I tend to present solutions and answer questions here on MSFN. But I am always particularly pleased when e.g. @feodor2 as developer of Mypal 68 supports us here with problems such as @roytam1 and others do in the legacy browser thread.
  25. The current selection of standard search engines can only have been made by the developer of Mypal 68 who is of course @feodor2. Compared to his previous versions of Mypal 68, the available search engines have changed from time to time which was also discussed in the issues of Mypal 68. However, the process of restoring these available, default search engines is of course an original Firefox feature.
