Two Internet Connections, Two NICS; How does Windows choose?
jcarle replied to gamehead200's topic in Windows XP
The order is determined by the priority set in Windows. When a network request is cast, it will check each adapter until it gets a proper response in the order of the set priority. To change your network adapter priority order, you have to go to Control Panel -> Network Connections, then in the Advanced menu, choose Advanced Settings. In the Adapters and Bindings tab, you can set the Adapter priority. -

You want the GL. VxWorks is not even worth the text to discuss it. Take a linux based router over proprietary software anyday. -
Sorry about the downtime. Something froze the server. Probably the last control panel's update. Fixed now. Thanks.

Well, in a sort of way, yes. Adding the option to search threads that are marked as stickies only is not very complex for someone who knows SQL, PHP and this board software.

I think there are better ways to solve the problems then with ratings. Ratings don't apply here. This isn't a software download site, this isn't a movie review site, this isn't a popularity contest, it's a discussion forum. Just like Wikipedia serves knowledge and doesn't use ratings, nor should MSFN. Rating individual posts means rating what people have said, and that should have no place here. Rating entire threads (which I suggested earlier) is better, but still isn't a great solution. Threads that have no valuable content (a discussion of say AMD vs Intel ... again) could be rated 5 stars and be the most irrelevant item, when other threads such as a complete analyses of Price vs Performance thread may get rated 1 star and get completely left out. Again, MSFN is a forum and as such should not have ratings. If finding valuable information is too hard because there are too many threads, a different solution should be taken. Enhancing search options to limit, for example, searches to include only results from Stickies. Creating an FAQ section listing popular topics and forums. Creating compilations of threads and turning them into MSFN guides. Those are solution, not ratings.

Which is simply proof that since this was needed, it was a bad idea to start with.Let's not turn MSFN into a popularity contest.

is there anyway to edit it? ot should I have to start a new poll?! EDIT: now multiple selection is sat, added some new viewers It's still messed. You still have TWO polls.

Simply stopping your PC and visually inspecting the CPU fan is enough to determine if there is dust collection there. If you can't see the CPU through the fan because it's blocked with dust, that's a problem.

Personally, I think individual post ratings are useless and may lead to thread discontinuity when people start filtering by ratings. If ratings are really desired (though I still think it's a waste and pointless), they should be on the thread, not individual posts.

If anything, you should take advantage of the fact that the hardware is old enough to run older games. Newer hardware can't run some of the old classics properly. Things like Dune, Leisure Suit Larry, Police Quest, King's Quest, Jones in the Fast Lane, Command and Conquer and so on and so forth.

Duly noted, I'll take care of that at the same time as I rework the website, which should be soon.

Unfortunately, I have no way to diagnose the issue since I can't get my hands on a copy of Windows XP x64.

It is not Vista's fault, it is not the way you install it, it has nothing to do with any of that. The ONLY reason you will see a floppy in your operating system when you don't have one physically installed... I repeat... the ONLY reason you will see a floppy in your operating system when you don't have one physically installed... is because it is enabled in the BIOS. There is NO plug and play with floppies and the operating system has NO WAY to check to see if the floppy drive is physically installed. The BIOS tells the OS wether or not one exists. Even the BIOS can't check to see if it exists, you have to tell it that it does. So if you see a floppy in your OS and you don't actually have one, then it IS enabled in the BIOS.

That's orgasmic.

Software will NOT cause hardware resets on NT based OSes (2000, XP, Vista, 2003). Drivers may, but software cannot. Though some software includes device level drivers (like some firewalls). The problem is very clearly hardware related and very likely caused by very high CPU temperatures. I'd bet the rooster's egg that the CPU heatsink is clogged with dust.

HyperWRT Thibor is an excellent upgrade, but Tomato is even better.

The processor frequencies are low because no one's kicked the hamsters hard enough yet.

Personally, I wish the censoring was an option available for each user so that the ones of us that would like to turn the censoring off, could.

I don't know if it's just me, but the forum is slow as f*** to load.

Why do people insist on making things that aren't meant to work on old hardware work. If the hardware is too old, it's too old. End of discussion.

You know, I don't care how third world your computer is. If you don't have enough ram, why are you running Vista? Hell, if you don't have enough ram for XP, why are you running that? It just blows me away.

Your poll is messed up. It requires you to vote Others even if you vote for something else. And by the way, it's Windows Picture and Fax Viewer (not just fax viewer).
