  1. I have an idea... what about using that Networking Wizard that comes with XP? You know, the one none of us tech heads ever use? I think it stores settings on a floppy so that you can import them to another machine, doesn't it?
  2. Using NTFS, a volume can have multiple segments spanning multiple hard disks. The maximum number of segments in a volume is 32, the maximum number of segments you can create on one hard disk is 8 and the maximum number of volumes is 64.
  3. Could be a number of things. The stick of ram could be bad. The module could be incompatible with the motherboard. Conflicting timings could be an issue. And so on and so forth...
  4. Do keep in mind that some applications developed with .NET 1.1 will still require the 1.1 runtimes to be installed, even if 2.0 is installed.
  5. The correct value is 0. {more info}
  6. You may not be able to do so since as far as I know, wireless settings are stored with the actual driver or adapter information.
  7. What you're referring to is the Internet Explorer InfoBar, which is found on XP SP2 and later. This is normal behaviour to prevent malware from automatically installing themselves without your consent.
  8. There is a difference between is 128-bit and is equivalent to 128-bit.
  9. I would need more details from the "Unhandled exception has ocurred in your application" error to be able to diagnose the issue for you. Also, what version of Windows are you integrating WMP11 into? And what language is Windows and WMP11 in?
  10. That not quite correct. A Dual Channel memory controller uses two 64-bit data channels, which gives the equivalent of 128-bits of bandwidth, but it is not natively 128-bits. The fact that the memory controller can use both memory channels at the same time is where the term Dual Channel comes from.
  11. Although kind of outdated, take a look at the ASUS NRL-LS533 and the IWill UPX, both single socket Xeon motherboards.
  12. Although not an ideal situation, if the original poster is intent on using the 250mm fan, another possibility would be to reverse the front intake fans and let them become exhaust fans. Therefore the 250mm would be the only intake fan and the other fans would all act as direct exhaust, creating a smoother donut shaped airflow.
  13. $249.00 on eBay, $507.99 at Servers Direct, $513.27 at FuturePowerPC
  14. Sure can... Supermicro makes some.
  15. I honestly don't remember. Next time I'm out there I'll use WinAudit or Everest to do up a report of the specs and specifics and answer your question then. Cheers. Or you could just call her and ask her to read the model off the front of the machine. Some older models also had the number on a sticker at the back of the machine.
  16. Something just nags at me that the cable could be responsible. The other thing to check also is to make sure that your network cards are set to auto-negociate or set them to 1000 only.
  17. Using a CPU fan to keep your motherboard cool is a bad idea. You're using the hot exhaust of the CPU to cool your motherboard instead of fresh cool air from an intake fan.
  18. Perhaps you could try using a Category 6 cross-over. What about drivers? Are they up to date?
  19. There are silent 80mm fans available and even if the temps register as low, there is still heat across the motherboard and other components such as hard drives which may not be seen by sensors. A low CFM silent fan is better then no fan any day.
  20. Maybe you meant there is a non-extreme model although there is also an old non-ultra? (At any rate, my link points to the ultra-extreme, which is the very latest) Oops. My mistake, I swapped the two. Yes, I meant Extreme as there is a non-Extreme model. But yes, you're right the Ultra Extreme is the latest and it is the absolute best heatsink available on the world market today.
  21. I can hardly see how a couple of $7 80mm intake fans can break a budget.
  22. I will post this on the WUD homepage when I get home and awake tommorow morning.
  23. Norton is a brand. Peter Norton Computing, a computing company bought out by Symantec, which maintained Norton as a brand .
  24. ThermalRight 120 Extreme Ultra. Hands down. (The ultra is important, there is a non-ultra model.)
  25. The only thing that may conflict is the timings, but other then that... everything will probably be well.
