  1. How are your network connections setup? Default TCP/IP settings or static IPs?
  2. @jcarle - can't really say it has made a difference In that case, it may very well be that your actual connection may be responsible. ADSL tends to have a somewhat lengthy startup delay at times. Perhaps your modem is often resynching?
  3. My advice... wait. Seriously. On June 4th, motherboard manufacturers will be allowed to officially launch their new motherboards based on the new Intel chipset, the P35. Asus has already prepared their new motherboard, the P5K3. You'll want to completely read this article at Anandtech to really see how much you would gain in future proofing, speed and upgradeability just by waiting a few months for a P35 based motherboard.
  4. You can sometimes see this behavior after a server restart or an apache restart. The forums will see everyone as logged out after the restart until people start moving around again.
  5. Errrr......... that's not my code.
  6. You may want to consider changing your controller instead. I too used the same controller that you have for years, then I finally made the move to a USB one. And trust me, I'm picky. (Ask Zxian) The best thing you'll find on the market that will be the easiest for you to adapt to and will feel the best in your hands if you're used to the Gravis Gamepad, is the Logitech RumblePad 2. At the price it sells for at NewEgg, it's hard to resist buying two.
  7. If you're really tight on the budget, you may want to look at Acer laptops. They're inexpensive and perform well for their price.
  8. For PS/2 devices to be detected properly, they must be plugged in while the computer is completely OFF.
  9. It can't be done using JavaScript on the Client side.
  10. In IE settings Auto Config is not ticked but Auto Detect Settings is. I'm on Orange Broadband - billed as 8MB but in practice around 5MB! @oscardog - Don't use a router. (PS - Ai Cymro ydach chi? ) Remove the check for Auto Detection. And you still didn't answer the question? Is Orange via Cable or ADSL (Telephone)?
  11. I use a floppy drive to make images so that I can use them as bootable CDs. I have one installed in my computer now, but for the next one, I'll just use the USB floppy I have laying around somewhere in my big giant slightly-smaller then a 18-wheeler box of cables and miscelaneous computer parts.
  12. I can garantee that forcing people to click on Google's ads will get your AdSense account closed for sure as it's very clearly stated in the AdSense terms that doing so goes against their policies.
  13. Best ergonomic tip I can't give, is don't learn to type properly. Those **** typing position lessons will give you carpel tunnel syndrome. I don't have that issue when I type because my hands are not positioned in the traditional sense, my hands kind of skip around the keyboard in a very non-traditional manner, therefore never remaining fixed. And I don't look at the keys either.
  14. Well, without going into details... perhaps a glimpse of what it's used for could be cool.
  15. But nmX.Memnoch, you didn't answer Zxian's question? (To which I'm also curious to hear the answer.) What application serves the database server? Webhosting databases? Large company's application back-end? Point of sale data?
  16. Make sure, if you're using IE, to uncheck Automatic Configuration in the Connection settings. Also, what type of connection is Orange? Cable or ADSL?
  17. Please do not post such claims without solid evidence as proof. Otherwise, you're just the town jester.
  18. What you can do is run IIS on non-standard ports, ie: 8080 for web and 2121 for FTP.
  19. Sounds like webhosting or a large company's data storage.
  20. The XP and 2000 clients may be trying to authenticate as themselves instead of authenticating as Guest. I am, however, at a loss on how to change authentication methods in Vista. I don't even know if there's a group policy editor for Vista.
  21. A lot ISPs block those ports, it may be the case with your ISP as well.
  22. PCI-X and PCI are interoperable though not recommended. Most motherboards with PCI-X slots also include PCI slots.
  23. Segments are groups of clusters in virtual volumes. Probably too much unrelated info!
  24. GAH! My eyes! They are burning by the sheer length of the post! Why do people pain us so by posting entire log files in a post? ATTACH PEOPLE! ATTACH!
