  1. new Hardware and drivers will force people to switch year ago I swore I'd stay on XP long after its extended support ends... behold the irony, I'm on "7" now reason: newer Hardware that XP sucked with + GDI object limitations problems it has and were never fixed
  2. problem is in custom skin/visual theme that you use from image, I would say who ever made it, either made upper window frame higher so buttons don't align anymore or simply screwed up the positions of buttons only maybe I'm wrong... is this system wide bug or only on that setup/installer ?
  3. keyboard definitely offcourse not the cheapest ones that break up when you hit them but anyone who ever use(d) keytronic keyboards know they live live live mine is 11 years old and still kicking like day 1
  4. not all are scam, but I personally avoid hyped products and stick with one I know for longest time (I won't advertise which is it) enough to say is, from XP to "7", it never missed anything and it isn't bloatware, been sticking with same product for ~5 years now use your product with HOSTS file, properly configured Firewall and a good browser that has popup/scam blocker

    MSI's

well for repair it has sense to junk pile backup msi's but for uninstall only purpose either cfg or ini files to me are more logical you'd had maybe 5 MB big file with a list

    MSI's

that bites I thought by now Windoze keeps install settings and file locations in ini file(s) btw thanks for answers

    MSI's

these take rougly ~270 MB and me having small hard drive, I hate to waste it on useless things so do these have any significance or I can just delete them ?
  8. Defragging is/was necessary only because of Hard Disk needle time to seek/jump to locations, and when files are fragmented/scattered it took time... SSD's don't have moving parts, they work instant since its just... chip memory (something like that)
  9. C:\Users\YOUR_ACCOUNT_NAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes or %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes
  10. its still better to replace it since Explorer will still be searching for it, in your case it won't find it, but is still linked to it... when replaced with dud, it will find it, but as dud's nature is, will unload it/self instantly you can alternatively hit ctrl+alt+del too see if anything else eats CPU time while your Explorer is lagging Offtopic: I even wonder would same thing help windows 7 too as I see same file in sys32 and loading thumbnails on any file lags Explorer too (tho not that much as on XP)
  11. I know, thats why I gave comment of "not answer he wanted" I had to reformat for same reason
  12. its most probably problem with VERCLSID.EXE I had same problem, until people here recomended to replace it with "dud" (google it) result was ultra speed browsing through folders with many files
  13. I used RT7Lite for that, left me with WinSxS of 800 MB in size yep I know its not answer you like but heck... if you want some things you have to find alternate ways
  14. he thinks probably about leaked builds of Win8 they all suck by the way... stick with win7 (or XP)
  15. and I already wrote I've done that
  16. and that one is ???
  17. aaah thanks !!! can't believe so much mess around that tiny thing also noticed that in CMD I wasn't able to put value in MB's even if help said KB and MB allowed also noticed minimum allowed size could be set to 2% and not 1%
  18. I have Volume Shadow copy service disabled yet in Event viewer i constantly get this under volsnap Event ID 36 naturaly MS web page was totally useless how do I stop this thing ? (using Win7 pro SP1)
  19. an interesting find, unfortunately the tool...(blur tweaker) well screws things up the surface behind transparency gets "overdrawn" like whole thing is software rendered instead via DWM (but is not) and when blur is restored, the bug is not present anymore dunno if this is in-memory patch problem or indeed in windows by default °_°
  20. my bad, sorry (only remember it had generic name)
  21. that was the tool I was reffering to
  22. hmm, it would be interesting to someone write here which lines to hex and what value
  23. so I'm interested how to disable annoying Blur in win7/SP1 I am aware of that little program someone wrote to remove blur, but it seems it brings more troubles than goods so is there any alternate way ? is this defined in msstyle or directly in DWM ?
  24. small bump I managed to delete (with this method) only 200MB on w7 SP1 after the **** thing grew over 4GB so all in all not really worth it but with SxS cleaner for 7SP1 it did remove ~2.5GB making SxS folder ~1.5GB in size rebooted ok, CP with progs and features still works ok only didn't test win updates still In my opinion, removing only .net 3.5 with RT7lite is best solution as it shrinks WinSxS folder down to 800MB by default (atleast did to me/tested only in VM)
  25. I use windows 7 firewall control + its shortcut put in startup folder makes much easier to "use" win7 FW the only downfall, it doesn't allow blocking of system processes and some other that MS tagged as safe
