  1. I'd disagree very much, the w8 is pushing these "metro" apps, all full screen, all with reduced functionality, and UI I won't event comment... the "windows blue" as they call it, (alleged) inside informer leaked info that MS is pushing most apps to go fullscreen if this is not a failure then I don't know what is windows will not be desktop OS anymore, win 8 is most likely last "hybrid" of both desktop and this useless metro unless at win9 they split windows OS to 3 branches (desktop, tablet and server), then it will become tablet only and THAT WILL SUCK
  2. this post makes no sense at all 1. he is not hero 2. he isn't doing some secret plot against rich folks, company and himself need money 3. MS is pushing this crappy OS to catch up with portable devices in race vs Apple and Google 4. W8 will fail 5. Steve Jobs said (D5 Conference), tablet devices will be dominant in future (star trek comparison), well not yet 6. #4
  3. I've seen many good "net communities" go that way best cure is to avoid them when such thing happen and find alternative
  4. I'm even surprised they do fixes for IE 8 it is in their interest to kill win XP already
  5. not that many and those that do, you can surely find better alternatives the only thing that is essential for PC users that uses .net is AMD(ati) display control center, thankfully nvidia isn't that dumb to force people on .net
  6. my 1st idea was to simply replace iexplore.exe with either portable opera or firefox and rename iexplore.exe to maybe iexplore1.exe but since I don't know how system calls (based on what) the browser for shell, I guess this would be dumb idea
  7. if you mean on win7 no it just isn't there anymore its nor hidden nor "hidden OS file", folder only has ieinstal.exe and ielowutil.exe while system wide anything related left is: ie4uinit.exe, IEExec.exe and ieUnatt.exe
  8. well problem is solved now, I took most stupid way re-downloading of wmp11 installer but to answer: slipstream was via nlite but yes seems something gone wrong there
  9. well in my defense I use win7, and win7 removes the .exe when removing it via cpanel thought that XP did same before good people here told it does not yeh... that sucks ok thanks
  10. no, no player except wmp 11 on pc this is fresh install and when i do on settings via wmp, then nothing at all happens when i double click the media files
  11. shortucts are not problem the ie.exe is
  12. here is a story... few months ago I slipstreamed IE 8 and WMP 11 onto XP SP3 cd but now I have problems that WMP won't launch itself to play any music or video when double click on file instead it always launches Open with dialog no matter if i set via Open with "always open with wmp", or via control panel -> add remove -> set programs access & defaults it always doesn't react what should I do to make it work normal ?
  13. sucks to be them just imagine to be forced to use Vista and Win 8 (at their time) not to mention Zuuuune hahah
  14. probably hidden content did you enable "show system protected files" and "show hidden files & folders" ?
  15. but isn't the OS shell core more from shell32.dll explorer.exe and mshtml.dll ? and not the ie.exe itself ?
  16. in what way ? MS lawsuit or something ?
  17. not to mention that .net shouldn't even be in any SP
  18. it is tied with aero.msstyle http://www.sevenforums.com/themes-styles/75871-how-can-i-change-hover-selection-color.html you can either use vista style builder and follow steps in link above or use some resource editor and edit following images with transparent PNG file 629,630, 631, 632
  19. haha epic video !
  20. also check this link http://klevstul.posterous.com/thinner-taskbar-in-windows-7
  21. thanks for info but you dumped wrong data according to MS (and other sites) this is solution: --------------- The size of each desktop heap allocation is controlled by the following registry value: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\SubSystems\Windows Windows SharedSection specifies the system and desktop heaps using the following format: Windows SharedSection=xxxx, yyyy, zzzz For 32-bit operating systems, increase the yyyy value to "12288", increase the zzzz value to "1024" For 64-bit operating systems, increase the yyyy value to "20480", increase the zzzz value to "1024"
  22. you can try with windows metrics, to reduce width of taskbar buttons but this doesn't work in iconised mode, only in "non combine"/ aka XP taskbar mode check here http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/21233-taskbar-change-icon-button-width-size.html
  23. best indeed, if he'd gone more into detail of metro crappyness it would've been better the ending also shows how worse things have become of PC industry in past you could buy PC with free dos (atleast in my country) these days you can't, all win 8 crap is pre-installed and forced on so basically who ever buys PC, has to pay for win 8 licence, and then if available NEW licence for another Win OS to downgrade I just hope MS gets blown in the face this time, much more than with vista fiasco they don't deserve to get money with this kind of "product"
  24. seems not
  25. I know, but there is nothing written specific to why is it "good" to upgrade it only mentions developers that use those graphic components sdk
