  1. back in alpha versions of vista, before OS went to desktop, on welcome screen it wrote Waiting for DIMS same when user went to shut down OS, again before shut down on screen it wrote Waiting for DIMS what are DIMS ?
  2. that one is bigger than full 255 MB vs 231 MB
  3. is there any either official or custom by someone modification of .net 3.5/sp1 light version ?
  4. now that he's fired he can finally throw away win phone and tablet and use iPhone and iPad
  5. I strongly believe SP2 will come out things like this are step 1 component by component
  6. good thing for w7 users shows MS won't abandon it as soon as paranoid people thought
  7. you can try this: run regedit navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion double click on CurrentVersion, change value to 6.1 double click on CurrentBuild and CurrentBuildNumber and change value to 7600 then try to install program, if it sucseeds, revert these values back to normal *note this might not work if installer checks kernel itself for version
  8. it has nothing over win7 except improved touch technology
  9. no, we are not evolving (depends per person) masses are more to bend over and take it up the a** I for one will never go using win8, nor 9 if it continues 8's path problem with masses is that they accepted the fate of "oh well there is nothing I/we can do so I/we will just shut up and use it" and most sad thing that there are no good alternatives to easy OS which is compatible with most hardware and runs most games like Windows does but being sold out to me isn't evolution, its bending over
  10. well event viewer shows nothing (probably coz it was flushed at some time) and firewall log doesn't even exist on my PC
  11. I fail to see in which field except touch controls were more improved
  12. seems it isn't as firewall doesn't record jack s*** such disapointment...
  13. no they don't I'm not talking about activation servers I talk about permanent inet conection need for constant verification and online accounts as said, only server emulator can be used for that method and now I apologise to tihiy for going off topic
  14. some things are things like games that require constant inet connection so emulator of server is needed, which technically isn't a crack.
  15. and to those whiners that whine for VM remember that VM date can be frozen in cfg file thus both OS in trial and this program can be used FOR TESTING, indefinitely
  16. I meant more like for each rule as in when was each rule made
  17. is there a way to see when (date) was certain rule (app blocked or allowed) ? I don't see in fw settings anything that shows it
  18. actually the "3D windows" was more than necessary move XP has GDI object limitation imposed, for example I had problem when used a theme(skin) and opened 10 apps OS would refuse to work, no new window would open nor draw, task manager would refuse to run no explorer window would open I'd be greeted by beep-error sound this was common problem and the only solution was vista's desktop composition engine (desktop window manager/DWM) with that user has no such limitation problems at all
  19. you're too paranoid yes devs will make apps for win8, win7 won't be abandoned for a long time the worst that can happen is that devs start massive making metro apps, which are actually very much crippled comparing to desktop/win32 which in other words again backfires to how win8 sucks and even if SP2 for win7 don't come out, hotfixes will hell win7 is proven to be next best OS after XP so why would they shoot themself in legg over tablet OS pfff
  20. then cry to microsoft for NOT ADDING THEM its NOTHING new that other dev's are re-adding, porting or adding features to Windows OS that "should" be there
  21. actually its roots go back as year 2003 so its more like 9 years old by time winblows 8 sits in homes, it will be 10 years
  22. except there s the human (consumer) factor where people if hate X product simply dump it hence why XP is still used in both private and state companies to-day
  23. I switched from 2000 to XP SP1 it was smooth enough for me then (1.3 ghz, 384 mb ram) loved the os and been using it for 5 years with SP3 it was even better would've stayed on it if my hardware didn't require win "7"
  24. sorry but I disagree XP SP0, SP1 and 2 are gone from any support Vista SP 0 and 1 same by support I mean hotfixes and telphone help/support
  25. both web based UI both suck
