ok, with the topic of "What is this world coming to?" this made me think about this.. what in your opinion is Americas Favorite Pasttime? We often see Football and Basketball games that get sold out.. yet last time i saw a sold out baseball game was back when barry Bonds was hitting his like 70th or whatever homerun. everytime after that has been lots of empty seats. Sounds like a new and stupid reality show ... but you're correct ... the effort of the everyday heros are rarely appreciated enough, may he be a fireman, policeman, pizza guy, open source programmer or even your local forum moderator ... exactly. to be completly honest last time i heard anyone do anything for firefighters/police officers was back with 9/11. and they risk their life everyday to save others... about 2 weeks ago here in my city i live in a firefighter died trying to save people.. he saved a mother, a 6 year old, and went back in for a 5 month old.. he never came out. i think its just sad that someone that only has to practice/play in the "on" season gets well over the firefighters and police officers.

Try this first.. Check the registry for these settings. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts] "Times New Roman (TrueType)"="TIMES.TTF" "Times New Roman Bold (TrueType)"="TIMESBD.TTF" "Times New Roman Bold Italic (TrueType)"="TIMESBI.TTF" "Times New Roman Italic (TrueType)"="TIMESI.TTF" if that disn't work... get a windows boot disk and use dos to delete the font file. and then copy over a new one from a disk. if that doesn't solve it then its a registry problem, in that case you should use a registry scaning program to scan the registry for errors. if any of them are inccorect run the reg file attached to correct. *I am running Windows XP SP1* this may or maynot be correct for SP2, my guess is that they will be the same settigns for both SP1 and SP2.

The hosts file has no extention. it is located at: c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts in windows XP... sounds like the program you're using is trying to open the hosts file as a directory not as a file. to edit the file just browse there open it with notepad and make whatever changes you want then hit file->save.

try using the dos command "runas" and run Winamp under the administrator account. If it doesn't crash then its a User Privledges problem.. if it crashes its probably a misconfiguration in the Current User part of the registry.

you mean like want to where you start the computer and it says "Microsoft Windows" then below that "Media Player" I don't think this is possible unless you use like a DOS Media Player which would be really ugly. I say just start the computer up all the way then start your normal media player.
