Unless something has changed very recently, replacing a hard disk with a clone of it does not "trigger" any event. jaclaz

You know this, how? From statistics, not a really valid way to prove anything of course, but still not that bad at giving hints. Out of 100 posts on the board: 22 are about some issues with the program5 are some discussion on the licensing model and/or abut calling things with their name73 are more or less related to either how ugly/intrusive the watermark is or about how to remove it or how to enter the license donation key or on how to give money to bigmuscle to remove the watermark (or on how the donation is connected to watermark removing) Strangely enough there is not a single post (AFAICR) about someone willing to donate some money out of sheer love for the tool. This of course may well mean that tens, hundreds or thousands of people donated a few bucks expressly and only for the development of the tool but since they never attempted to get a license donation key, nor to "install" it, they never had any issue with the procedure and so they had no reason to post. jaclaz

Assigning a Static IP Address

Try putting the identifier right after the add action: <- edited, see below. Try re-ordering the entries according to MS documentation linked in following post. jaclaz -
A new windows 10 based Lumia tested: http://www.theverge.com/2015/12/18/10571504/microsoft-lumia-950-xl-review Interesting snippet (mind you it comes from someone who actually uses Windows 10 on a PC) : jaclaz

Well, it depends, I am old (and grumpy), but actually a kid at heart, so both would be fine . As a matter of fact I see boards like MSFN as a playground, so it's good to have a new kid on it. jaclaz

Now That Windows 8 Classic Support Is Ending Soon ...
jaclaz replied to Jody Thornton's topic in Windows 8
Besides the fact that your impression/feeling is different from all measurements actually made (by NoelC), what I was suggesting was simply that there is no real reason to have it as a "switch" as it could be an "addition" instead. jaclaz -

TELVM, you might want to check your dictionary for the meaning of "understatement" Two recent examples (so that you can exercise yourself): jaclaz

Also, as a side note, a "300" W PSU means "nothing" in the sense that each "rail" (5V, 12V, 3.3V, etc.) provide each a given amount of Amperes, and not all PSU's are the same, one may make the 300 W with more Amperes on the 5 V rail and another one with more Amperes on (say) the 3.3 V rail, so it is possible that 300 W PSU "A" cannot really drive a given set of motherboard+graphic card whilst 300 W PSU "B" can easily. Of course *any* 400 W PSU can power that same setup, and it's easy to understand why manufacturer (and calculating programs) tend to be on the "large" or "safe" side. This may be of use (of course don't take the result as the ultimate truth) MS research Joulemeter: http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/projects/joulemeter/ of course, being somewhat useful has been discontinued (here, via Wayback Machine): https://web.archive.org/web/20150909131502/http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/fe9e10c5-5c5b-450c-a674-daf55565f794/ jaclaz

Sure . But the problem (which is anyway EXTREMELY rare) would not exist and the cure wouldn't be needed at all, if you use the "right" approach which is "use a FTP client for FTP access". Pre-preventative medicine. jaclaz

"Slipstreamable" Intel Chipset INF Drivers
jaclaz replied to LoneCrusader's topic in Windows 9x Member Projects
Well, this is as old as USB. Basically you have one 0/1, On/Off switch marked "Enable Legacy Support" (or similar) that actually toggles between two sets of settings, not only what each set contains is not documented but also different motherboard/Bios manufacturers include different things in each set AND, these sets may also be different on different BIOS revision for a same motherboard. I believe they were exercising to be able to later fully screw up EFI/UEFI implementations (and they managed to fully succeed at it ). jaclaz -
I see , it's not a good idea to use "internal" names in documentation/help, as an example my internal name for "Windows component family" is loser . jaclaz

Sure , but it's the list itself that makes no sense anyway , a given program may well falsely claim to be a program from Microsoft WHILE NOT exhibiting ANY lack of choice. False claims are something pertaining to Copyright or Trademark infringement, not necessarily connected with choices (or lack thereof). In any case remember that the good MS guys do have the secret 7 on the dice: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jonathan.deboynepollard/Humour/microsoft-monopoly.html jaclaz

Naah , the actual full quote has another point: If a program Truly claims to be a program from Microsoft it doesn't count. If you prefer they just established that by definition anything from Microsoft is fine. jaclaz

As long as you have POP or IMAP enabled, it should be as simple as that, see: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/using-microsoft-outlook-with-gmail.html jaclaz

Word-compatible program available for free download
jaclaz replied to JorgeA's topic in Software Hangout
Like (examples please)? I mean, we are talking of a word processor, something that went (set apart the stupid change of default format for files) untouched for the last - say - 18 years or so, it is not like any MS Word after Office 97 added any meaningful or worth of note functions or capabilities or changes in the way the software works. At least nothing that anyone would normally use unless he/she is writing a book with hundred of pages, chapters, index, indentations, notes and footnotes, etc. And reality check, professional writers DO NOT use those features (or this kind of WYSIWYG word processors at all for that matters), example: http://www.jamierubin.net/2013/01/25/a-good-word-processor-for-writers-should-do-3-things-really-well/ BTW 90% (say) of the documents that are currently created in Word could be as well made in Wordpad or other simpler text editors. jaclaz -
No , you got it wrong. It's not about protecting the privacy of the people, it is about protecting the data, the good Chinese Government guys are simply against the idea that the same data they already have falls in the hands of MS. Oww, come on, this is absurd , IF this was the case, how come the Abomination has been allowed by Washington and by NSA? No, wait ... jaclaz
-
winner? Maybe it should be specified about which kind of image and if there are particular mounting requirements? I presume that you are talking about WIM files mounted through DISM, but maybe other kind of images (let's say a VHD, either .vhd or .vhdx) can be used as well... jaclaz
-
Well, it is off topic in the sense that it is not specifically referred to the Abomination (Windows 10 for the readers that are not part of the club). And yes, it is on topic, in the sense that even if you have done everything in your power to tame the Abomination, it is a good thing that you know how it is only a part of the issues, your daughter or nephew may actually be more exposed than you are through something that you wouldn't even consider dangerous (a child's toy). Why in my day the top technology were talking dolls, and you had to pull a string to have 'em talk, no fancy batteries, No Sir ... ... and we LIKED it! https://tinyapps.org/blog/misc/200702250700_why_in_my_day.html jaclaz
