If you use DEP for now, you must use AMD CPU, because the company of AMD said they would support Windows XP SP2 DEP. but Intel CPU is not supporting DEP until end of this year. so, End of this year is a good time to upgrade your computer if you want to use Intel. (Of course, this includes the faithful user of Intel)

That stands for Date Execution Prevention, you must enable it unless you use AMD CPU for now. I would like to use the Intel CPU even if there is an emegency. If you use Intel until end of this year, you will not use it, because it is not supporting DEP for now until end of this year.

Where did you order XP SP2? I remember that it is not opened to order in Microsoft.com.

Why don't you install Windows XP SP2? It will force Windows Firewall to open by default after you install Windows XP SP2 (and yes, you must reboot the computer to effect it.)

I use the Windows XP Professional because I think the features of Windows XP Pro is better than Windows XP Home, MCE, Table PC. Maybe I will use the Table PC because I need to talk with other people.

I don't think Microsoft will release the Windows 2000 SP5 with the extra features, because Microsoft Windows XP/2003 is importance for Microsoft. So, Windows 2000 SP5 will add the patches of Windows 2000 SP4.
