  1. The Updates/Add-ons section is built mostly for the direct integration of updates/hotfixes from MS. The good part is that you can also use it, with the help of add-ons, to add applications in the SVCPACK folder, which will be executed during Windows setup with silent switches, making their installation quiet, fast and invisible. How can you know whether you can use Add-on Maker or you need a special tool for a certain application? My best answer is experience (i.e. a lot of reading around). Take, for example, that an application contains a toolbar which you wouldn't want to install. An add-on would then not be the best solution for you, but it doesn't mean there aren't any (e.g., AutoIt). Enjoy
  2. Same thoughts here
  3. Thank you guys, it is control userpasswords2. BTW, I wrote in the title of the post it wasn't lusrmgr.msc
  4. Isn't Help and Support also related to .chm files? I know that removing it won't affect opening of .chm files in general, but... Maybe it's both components (you mentioned indexing service) together.
  5. I've come across a command you type into Run which will open a menu for assigning rights and privileges for users, but it's not the one in the title. The window it opens is just like the one for users in domains, where you select the user name and choose (from a drop-down menu?) whether they will be Administrators, Power Users... you get the idea, right? Looking forward to your answers
  6. Updated to Version 3.1.1
  7. -- IE7 -> check again, but I'm pretty sure you can directly add it -- TweakUI -> there is an add-on, search the Application Add-ons sub-forum of nLite -- msi Installer 4.5 -> directly (if you use an update pack, check whether it's already inside) -- dotNET 1.1 sp1 -> add-on (contains the two hotfixes below) -- KB886903 -- KB928366 -- XUpdatePack-SP3-v1.0.27 -> directly -- dot.net 3.5 SP1 -> add-on, same as .NET 1.1SP1. I would recommend you find AIO (All-In-One) add-on with all versions of .NET Framework -- KB958481 -- KB958483 -- KB958484 -- ClearType_PwrToy -> don't know Add-on MAker will probably not do much for you here. There are already add-ons for most of what you want to do, but if you want to create your own .NET add-ons (otherwise a bit tricky), you need THIS . Don't just burn lots of CDs, use a virtual machine and test the ISOs to see how progress goes. Enjoy (and use search)
  8. I also don't see SP4 or the SATA driver in the LastSession.ini. Taking into account it has a date and time in its name, you have made more than one uses of nLite. Please go to Program Files\nLite\Presets and attach Last Session.ini (nothing else in the file name).
  9. Well, you can add programs using add-ons (packs that install programs during windows setup) or you can install them silently through RunOnce. Also, look at the Unnatended Guide, the "Application Add-ons" sub-forum in nLite As for adding LIP... I don't remember anyone asking about this. Most people already have XP CDs in their own language. Wait around for others to answer, but if it is impossible, it could still be possible to copy the contents of the LIP CD on the XP CD ($OEM$) and install it silently.
  10. So, start the program, click and copy lp.cab and paste it somewhere else while the installation in still on.
  11. Nothing happened because you probably didn't read this. Why don't you look at the Silent .NET Maker page? There is a great breakdown on which files to download; for e.g., if you only want .NET 3.5 SP1, you download .NET 3.5 SP1 full redistributable (dotnetfx35.exe 231 MB), contains 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1 frameworks, .NET 3.5 SP1 redist langpacks (dotnetfx35langpack_x86XX.exe IF YOU NEED IT) and NDP35SP1-KB963707-x86.exe update.PM me or post here on what you want to install and what you downloaded, and I'll help you out with the configuration of _SNMsynth.ini Cheers
  12. If it's already slipstreamed on the CD, then no.
  13. Updated to v. 2.0.2
  14. Updated to latest version 19/02/2010 Rev.3274 by clsid
  15. .NET Framework is easy, believe me :-) Either download one of several ready-made packs/add-ons or make your own with THIS. Tried and tested. It can be made as an nLite add-on or a switchless installer from RunOnce. The Silent .NET Maker even has the option to merge different versions of .NET Framework into one installer along with language packs. Enjoy
  16. From a google search, it appears the even Norton Ghost 14 doesn't support .gho files anymore.
  17. I've been experiencing fluctuations on the site twice today. First I thought it could be something with my internet connection or the browser I'm using, but I quickly eliminated them all. So, from time to time, on both Firefox 3.6 and IE8, the site is inaccessible or there is a connection timeout when I try to filter new content and open any MSFN link from a google search. Thought you might like to know.
  18. You are saying that not being able to install control panel also breaks the installation of the driver? In that case, install 7-Zip and using right-click on the nVidia driver, extract it in a folder with 7-Zip. After that, open Device Manager, choose Update on your Video Controller (VGA) and point it to the extracted folder. This should install the driver with no problems. Tell us how it went.
  19. Well, here is the official driver page for one. Newer ATI Catalyst drivers require .NET Framework 2.0 be installed on the PC. Do you have that? As to the audio, it is possible the driver isn't showing if you have a high definition (HD) audio codec. Have you installed SP3? The support for HD Audio is built in with SP3, and after that you can add your audio driver. If you have SP1 or SP2, you need to download KB888111 accordingly to the SP version (there was another update that did the same thing, but I can't remember the exact numbers) to get the support.
  20. Even if you have deleted the Folder with XP from your PC, it's still not terrible. Copy it back from the CD. Then open nLite and point it to the XP folder. Choose only the last option Create bootable ISO and make the ISO choosing the mkisofs instead of the default engine. When the ISO is created, use ImgBurn to burn the ISO directly to a CD/DVD.
  21. If you're using nLite, then you can't integrate IE8 hotfixes along with the other updates. However, you can download or create an IE8 add-on which will contain all the current hotfixes. There is a tool that creates the add-on, and you can find it here: http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5999 Please bear in mind that the add-on will work ONLY on XP with SP3
  22. Dutch, open Device Manager and choose your SATA/RAID/SCSI controller; open it and click Details. From the drop-down menu choose Hardware IDs and send us the lines you see. It should be something like %PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3349.DeviceDesc% = viamraid , PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3349&CC_0104 As to integration, you understood correctly; if you integrate drivers in nLite, add them as PnP; as to the SATA driver, choose it as an individual driver and integrate it in TXT mode (if it has an option for x86 and x64, choose the appropriate) as the last in the line of drivers.
  23. That's great, but did you try the official web site www.hp.com, and which drivers do you exactly need?
  24. This error has appeared several times on the forums, so I suggest search. As to Windows Installer, I integrate v.4.5 with no problems whatsoever.
  25. Well, find the exact model of you nVidia graphics card, then go to http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index5.aspx?lang=en-us and find your drivers. If you are unsure how to do that, please post the exact model of your card and I'll try to help you out. BTW, do you have .NET framework installed?
