  1. I have done it with less, 25W normal iron with thin tip and you don’t even need to use 2% silver 60/40 solder, just electronics solder with resin will do the trick. It could be that I’m more experienced in this kind of work, but I can replace a cap with solder and iron (yes ONLY those) in 30 seconds.
  2. Update your BIOS and see if that helps, also are you sure it’s in oC and not in oF?
  3. Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3870 512MB Graphics Card on ebay . About £135 incl. P&P. That would be a good deal...
  4. 1GB is just marketing on that card, hell, I think it can’t even "use" it right. Get your self an 8600GT DX10/x1950xx DX9c and up.
  5. Just clean it out from time to time, you can also buy filters that you can place in front of the case but still air will be sucked trough the CD/DVD drive and floppy as you stated. Make sure your cats don’t get sucked in . By the way, it’s time you start to look for some SATA drives...
  6. Set the jumper on the CD-R drive on "CS" and try again...
  7. This one goes in the books, it´s time to pin it . * Topic Pinned
  8. Quite funny: * I hate running out of USB ports - Click for full-size. It would be nice if we could make a collection of funny computer gadgets, like the teddy bear USB stick where you have to pull of it’s head . Any one wants to join in?
  9. Auch.. So much for "cheaper"... Now he’s sitting there with a bunch of over priced stuff that doesn’t work. I wonder, pay 10% more and have a working system or being in a situation like this... I know what I would do next time… (No!, no pre-build system from *cough*Dell, HP*cough* any OEM ).
  10. If you bought it in a local shop, you could return all and get back with a working system (e.g. RAM, CPU and mobo, and return with the same CPU with a compatible mobo and RAM). There are way newer chipsets then the aging nVidia 590, look at the newer chipsets like the 760FX. Gigabyte MA790FX-DS4 and DS5 are outstanding boards. Only thing you can’t use is SLI, but crossfire you can (ATI). Also the video card is going to be replaced soon by the new GTS, even the 8800GT kick’s *ss with the "older" GTS.
  11. Well, the news is on: no BIOS can let a Yorkfield cored CPU work on the now existing version of the 680i...
  12. I would say your BIOS is not up to date and doesn’t "see" the CPU right. Also the RAM would be the first thing I would swap to see if that works. A bit late to post here now, he could have had a working system if he had... can he take back some parts for full refund? (RAM and mobo that is.)
  13. Well, Panarchy is walking the line again. He sure is out to use not legally bought or not legally used software. Topic Closed. Panarchy, you have been warned...
  14. just hit [ESC] EDIT: Seems it´s not always stopping, so just use [CTRL]+[F4]
  15. Well, just see if it helped. If not then let it run for a few hours and see if that helped .
  16. What was the reason for updating, any good improvements besides "Biggest change - public uploads!"?
  17. Hi A.T.M, Welcome. Just checked your site and boy it’s full of spammers... CU around...
  18. About that PSU, if you use the calculator right then the sum of all these components: Intel Core Extreme XQ6800 4 sticks of DDR2 RAM 2 8800GT video cards 8 SATA drives 1 DVD-RW 1 Blue-Ray DVD-RW 1 SoundBlaster PCI 1 RAID SATA PCI 1 TV-tuner card PCI 1 Other PCI-E 3 USB dev. 2 Fire wire dev. 5 12cm fans And the total comes on some 663Watts. For real, I don’t see why any one would need more then a 620Watt PSU for home use in a not extreme OCed or mod system...
  19. Can you give us the brand/type of the laptop please; it could be that more people suffer this problem.
  20. Yes, I border to read his post, just overlooked the "real question".
  21. Those are questions you should ask to an accountant, most of the time the "chamber of commerce" can help you out too if it exists in your country. With all the information from them, you have to start a business plan.
  22. No, that’s not a small problem you have there. Did you check the cable? Could be a bad contact, broken cable or worse, the board...
  23. Indeed, and if it doesn’t show any thing then I think it’s the end of the board that controls the display or a cable issue.
  24. You still want that some one burns his fingers on this and starts to hack the hardware and drivers? (And later MSFN.org will be blamed)
  25. Hi Nerevar, Lot’s of expensive stuff but t will not give you the best performance. I can see you didn’t researched a lot so I can help you with that. First I want to say that: Intel and SLI is NO-GO. Better to have 2 8800GT cards in SLI then one GTX and Ageia Physx. CPU could be the new Q9650. 1kW is way to much for your system. Onboard sound will do fine unless you need AEX4 and MIDI I/O. 2 500GB drives in RAID0 would do better. And there are more points . Read this link first I would say...
