  1. mara, Read my pinned topic, could be something to integrate...
  2. Office 2003 SP3 Blocking older file formats. It seems that more and more people having problems with opening older file formats after installing SP3. The formats for early versions of Word, Excel, or Powerpoint are now being blocked with intension. Microsoft's excuse for this behavior is that the earlier file formats from Microsoft and its rivals are "less secure" then the formats in Office 2003 and 2007 and so Microsoft sees them as vulnerability. Microsoft placed a KB on there site for the people who want to read there older file formats. It’s not a complete solution but more a workaround by editing registry entries/settings. Please read more here in Microsoft’s KB938810. To inform you, puntoMX More info with these KBs:
  3. Look at this page, your board doesn’t support RAID but you already found out.
  4. Let me edit that .Well, you see it right now, only using when needed but you will never get there. The onboard x3100 uses 8MB and a bit more when XP has started but still less then 64MB.
  5. Are you using Vista/XP/98 or any thing else? Downloaded the latest drivers?
  6. Even non integrated VGA does that, no way a card under 40 USD can do more then integrated graphics, and for laptops as we can read on this forum that’s about double the price.
  7. No it does not support AHCI. Later ATI bridges can do ACHI, but there are some "compatibility problems", e.g. Version 1.0/1.1/1.2 in combination with some drives.
  8. Why that? It’s a complete integrated GPU, just without a dedicated RAM part. That would not use the CPU to bring on the eye candy in games or your Vista OS, unless it doesn’t have the hardware shaders/instructions; are you referring to this?
  9. Do not post more then one time the same questions. See the other topic and my answer...
  10. Welcome to THE forums . The extra 100 bucks wasn’t/isn’t worth it, well some don’t agree with me. Don’t worry too much about the RAM that "could be" used, it’s not that it directly lowers your RAM; it’s just marking the limits. So, when you don’t use to much video RAM, it will let the other RAM "free" so the apps can use it. I hope this cleared it a bit up.

Indeed, under the 400-450MHz you could forget to watch DiVX or XViD, let alone H264...
  12. Well, the boards with onboard DVI are out since AMD released there 690V/G chipsets. ASRock made add-on cards to use the onboard VGA in combination with the PCI-E port and that gave you the DVI connector.
  13. RainyShadow, Thank you for the 2 links to the tools, very useful .
  14. For your system SATA, I have the LiteON by the way... Average number of DVDs it can burn when not older then 6 months is a little over 1700. You would not believe how many pirated stuff is sold in Mexico .
  15. Don’t use the plastic ones, those only heat up your drive more.Do you know your case temperature? Looks more like you are missing some air flow. Give us your specs, and tell us if there is a case-fan behind the CPU cooler that takes the warm air out...
  16. My first impression is a dying motor and/or head-mechanism, or at least not powerful enough.I would leave the drive as it is and use only your new 250GB, its way faster any way and I’m sure you won’t miss your 40GB.
  17. Lite-On LH-20A1S working on Intel ICH7 and ICH9, all on green (yes). @ nitroshift, You didn’t post any thing in the topic of AHCI any more, please post your findings .
  18. If the fan was out for some time, I would replace the cooling compound too. Sometimes it’s not working as efficient as it should be...
  19. So you say the 8400GT is about 30% slower then the GS and about the same (GT) as the G?I saw that site before, but those benchmark scores are a bit odd... If you use the latest drivers with the x3100, you will see that the 8400M series doesn’t perform 3 times better... just 1.2-1.3 times better in 3dmark06, but that doesn’t say much in real life gaming for older games. Newer titles with SM4.0, can’t be played with the 8400GS neither . Any way, the x3100 should get 1k ratings in 3Dmark06... I don´t have a motherboard with x3100 around, so it would be nice if some one posted there scores here .
  20. QX9650… My bad, I thought you were looking for parts to build an extreme system...
  21. Condolences my friend... Take good care of your dad and your self.
  22. I PMed you a few days ago, still no response . Let’s work it out together...
  23. The G92 based 8800GTS uses the double height cooler as well...
  24. That case can’t take it up against the Coolermaster cases.I don’t know what you are going to do with a 750W PSU, but I don’t think you will do more then SLI/crossfire and 4 HDDs or so? For the motherboard: All depends on what you want, if you like crossfire, pick any thing you like with the X38 chipset, if you like SLI then pick any thing with the upcoming nVidia 780 Intel version. By the way, if you really like to poke out eyes there is the shiny ASUS Maximus Extreme .
  25. The only thing I can think of is the driver. About what video card are we talking about and what drivers? And there is no "auto" button or menu option on that 1920*1080 LCD-TV?
