  1. Check the battery, could be...

    pagefile.sys

I would use that 80GB harddisk for the SWAP-file, it´s faster. Benchmark your drives. I know people say that if you have 2 drives, use the other drive to keep your swap file, but that´s only if you have a harddrive as fast as the one with your OS. just test it, you will see

Yep, you forgot to apply your settings I think

First let me ask some thing: How big is your first HDD? If it´s a newer Harddisk then that 10GB your using for your swap file then I would NOT use that drive. Think about it
  5. 4661 AND 4662 that is (emule SUX big time... arrrggg) Also close incoming ports 4665 and 4672...
  6. Close the port that that program is using in your router first, so you can be more relaxed...
  7. Wrong FORUM dude... I think you used the USB refresh tweak . Use a REG setting to set it back to 500 again.

    Format Help

First, a Windows 98 bootdisk can remove NTFS partitions but can´t make or format them. Then, use your old XP CD so you can format and change patitions, it´s the fast way else you have to download 4 floppies (look on the forum, a lot of info on that)
  10. What did you try? Some more info on that please...
  11. nLite IS safe to use, but remove only the thinks you know of. ATA133 is not faster then ATA100, only the cache flow is higher. Most of the drives will not get higher the 60MB´s ALL P3 motherboard support 7200rpm, the question is if the motherboard will accept bigger discs then that 30GB HDD. I think it’s the best option to speed up your system. Windows XP wil use like 100MB or so when you install it, after time and after installing an Anti virus it will take like 120MB. But, with learning about nLite and the SERVICES that XP uses, you will get down too 80MB, so plenty of RAM left for simple applications and small images in PhotoShop (If you can buy PhotoShop then I would go for the Hard Disk AND the RAM ). Euhmm, P3 with DDR is not common, and if it does, then it will not support 400MHz RAM most of the time (due to voltage for example). If it does, then cool, you can put timings lower so you get a few % more bandwidth out of it (I also do that with my AMD CPU´s). I just liked to add this
  12. NIS (norton internet security) include norton antivirus. I think i disabled NIS and still got the error. In fact, that problem is not on my machine (i'm notusing NIS), it's on my son's laptop. I'll test that later and let you know What i'm sure is, when i unistall NIS, NO MORE ERRORS. Regards coucou Told you from the beginning.
  13. Okay, home is NOT CRAP, and PRO doesn´t give you any thing more that you will use as a normal user. If you want to have the latest version, then download SP2, slipstream it (look @ the forums here how too) and burn a new CD (I hope you have a CD burner). Else install Windows again, but format the whole drive before, then install SP2 first (And no, SP2 isn´t bad). Don´t trow away 140 US$ for an other version op a OS you already have.
  14. Okay, then try to check your DIMMs with MEMTEST http://www.memtest86.com/ But, if you reinstall windows, you install all drivers again? (Ja, ik ben een Nederlander die in Mexico woont en daar zijn cybercafé heeft )
  15. Looks like a heat problem to me. Try to clean your computer inside from dust. Then check your CPU cooler. Also check your frag tape/cooling paste between CPU and cooler. Most of the time the frag tape/cooling past gets old and need to replaced. The AMD 1400 is KNOWN for it heat, it´s almost the "hottest" CPU from AMD . (Ik weet wel zeker dat het de koeling is, het beestje is al zeker 4 jaar of zow )
  16. Try to remove NORMAL.DOT. M$ WORD will make a new one when you start the program again. If that doesn´t help, deinstall the program and reinstall it again. That´s all I can think of. Good luck
  17. Okay, try this; Go to your "Windows" directory, then go to installed "Downloaded Program Files". DELETE ALL files shown there. Also try a anti-HIJACK program... Good luck
  18. I also would think about the slowest part in your computer; THE HARDDRIVE. You have a 30GB HDD that´s like 4 years old. The new drives will give you a great performance boost. Even more if you go from 5400rpm to 7200rpm drives. For the rest, more RAM... AND USE nLITE...
  19. Question time: Are those 2 DIMMS the same brand? Are the CL settings the same? Tips: - Put the slowest DIMM first, some BIOSes take the CL settings from the first DIMM. - Set your CL setting on manual and start with the higest setting and then after testing it go down (start for example with 3, then 2.5, then 2). - Play around with your voltage settings in the BIOS, if it runs @ 2.5v, you can try 2.6v or 2.7v without problems... Okay, do that first, I´ll be back...
  20. http://usa.asus.com/mb/socketa/a7m266/overview.htm You just have the Micro ATX version. It could be that you have a Realtek NIC and not the 3COM. If so then download this driver: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downlo...6&Software=True Have fun PS. Did you ENABLE your NIC in the BIOS? Is it found in your OS?
  21. Disable your Anti Virus... even better, kick that Norton of your system. Use AVG for example... Good luck
  22. Euhm, can you be more clear about it? If the list shows, there are empty spaces in that list?
  23. Nice CPU, but I was asking about the motherboard brand and partnumber. It´s good to learn first about your hardware before downloading drivers from the internet. If you don´t know it, then open your box and look @ the big "card" where all other cards are plugged in; that´s your motherboard. Most of the time there is a brand name and partnumber printed some were in bigger caracters. look for that info, I like to help you out so you can get the best out of your machine .
  24. Okay, then next time be more clear ... Any way, we agree on that DOMAIN thingy, and the Pro version isn´t worth the cash for a "home user". Edit: PS, with some reg settings you can logon to domains, don´t remember how, only that you have to enable some stuff. technicaly Pro is the same as the Home version.
  25. But first, we need to download the good drivers for your motherboard... so please give me the info, brand and type, so I can help you out with it...
