You have the wrong driver. I´ve got an idea: Can you send me the brand and the model type of your motherboard, also to find your audio drivers... I think that way we can help you...
-
My first thought too
-
looks like it´s better to format your system and restart over again, you have to much problems with your system. I´t´s the best way... Also buy a sound card so you don´t have problems using media player or to play streams. Good luck.
-
Strange, but tell me, why would you play CD´s when you can´t listen to music?
-
Windows XP Home CAN NOT log into an NT network (without some kind of 3rd party addon) Windows XP Pro allows you access to MMC consoles, which are administrative tools. Pro also allows 10 simotanious connections where as XP Home only 5. XP Pro also offers extended security between users on the same PC. Also, offers multi-processor support, where as Home does not. There are also a LOT of utilities that are not found in Windows XP Home. Your talking about DOMAINS, that´s were you can´t logon too... but you can logon to workgroups!
-
Okay, there is your problem, it´s only working with a sound card.
-
"Pro can log onto an NT network"... What? You can always logon to a NT network, even with ´98. But Pro has GPEDIT.MSC to edit user setting and restrictions. Pro has some enabled network function that you have to set by hand in a Home version. Other then that, there is NO difference, only in price. But if you have a licence, you can order a new CD from Microsoft, why buy a more expensive licence? PS. Low Level Format, you don´t want to do that, you just want to Format your harddisk. Low Format is more like a factory format that will take hours on a small HDD of 4GB and could take a day for a 120GB. Just format it. (Only you use it to get writ of bad sectors... if that´s what you want... some times it works.)

There should be a .LOG file in your C:\WINDOWS directory (by default). most of the time it´s the driver or brand name ending with .LOG. Open it with NOTEPAD and look for the error, or just post that .LOG file so we can see what is wrong.
-
Why don’t you slipstream SP2 in your XP installation disk and reinstall your system. Also you could download whole pack of update packages. Try to look here, maybe this is useful: http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/updatepack.html RyanVM is also very active on the MSFN forum.

Do you have sound when you play games? try to re-install the soundcard... that´s the only thing I could think of .
-
No, there is no checkbox for that. Why don´t you make a REG-file that you cleans your page-file (after reboot)? And an other one that disables that? Or keep it "on", only it takes a few secs more to shut down (or you have a 2GB swap file, hehehehe... okay, then it takes longer LOL)
-
That´s interesting. Let me try that. Thanx Edit: That works, but who likes that welcome screen . going to look for a reg-tweak that disables ONLY that WELCOM thingy. II need to find out what is changed in the REG so I can use it directly with an Unatended Install. Thanx all for thinking with me, going to play around now
-
It´s not the task manager that I like to disable. Also, there is no setting in GPEDIT.MSC. I have a PRO versions of XP but like to apply the settings by hand in the REG.. That´s also the way to do it in standard XP Home (Altrough it would be nice to play with GPEDIT.MSC first ). There is a way to redirect the CAD keys to the taskmanager only. I already disabled "Change Password", "Lock Computer" and "Log Off" in that "Windows Security"-windows... but it would be nice if I only would get that task manager (I don´t like people play around change paswords or locking the system ) Thanx for the replies.
-
I did it before on one of my systems but can´t remember how I did that. It´s redirected directly too the TASKMANAGER. But lets see what other people say about it, thanx for the reply .
-
How do disabled that Windows Security window when I push CTRL-ALT-DEL? BUT I like to keep CTRL-SHIFT-ESC for the TASKMANAGER. Is there some way to do that with a REG setting? I looked on the net AND in the forums here in MSFN but could not find any thing about it . Some one can help me with it? Thanks in advance

Nice story and what has this to do with nLite? Wrong forum? Just do what hp38guser is saying LOL
-
For me it´s also not working, using an English version of XP Pro (SP2, nLited ) and office 2k3 Spanish... I´ll use an international Spanish keyboard layout so that will be allright. Shrinking is not always working fine, your one of few that could it get to work for the Spanish version
-
I like to use AVG from GriSoft; it´s good, fast, small and for free (v6, v7 isn´t). It´s using 4-7MB of RAM. Before I used NAV2004 but was using like 12-15MB as far as i can remember. Way to much I think for just an anti-virus. Edit: AVG is compatible con nLite

Could it be that I used the wrong program to make the unattended answer file? What should I use? Edit: I made the "unattended answer file" like this: http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/office2003_advanced.htm Is there any chance that this combination is not working, i´m using: - XP Pro SP2 English OEM - Office 2003 Resource Kit Tools (English) - Office 2003 Spanish So far I could not find Office 2003 Resource Kit Tools Spanish, so I think I used the right tools... Edit2: I give up... after one week fighting it... aarggg... but I keep smiling -

Is there any way to attach 2 files? Could it be that there is some thing wrong with my Office version? I can´t find the M$ log file... Edit: I forgot that this time I have errors in the logs, but before there were non. I just was playing around to get the shrink to work, some thing I did gave me the errors in the logs I think... I hate to ask things when other people CAN do the job without asking... office2.log -
