  1. Do you have onboard sound? Else I would say replace that sound card. It could be the connector but it sounds more like your speakers blew up your sound chip with a discharge.
  2. People were talking about it 5 years ago . Any way, they never learn... Always nice to have a 16 bit OS, when your CPU is 32...
  3. Nice sound card, pics look great!
  4. I think you just got a bad board... The 3 PCI option is nice but most people will have enough with 2 or 3 (I know I do with that double NIC). *Going to use an ASUS board with a nVidia 590 chipset soon for my new webserver / gateway.
  5. "Firstly, my CPU fan "blows" cold air onto the CPU heatsink, where as my old one "sucked" the hot air out. Does it make much of a difference in which direction the air flows?" That is normal with coolers these days . "Secondly, is it better to view the temperature of your CPU/RAM etc. through the BIOS, or through a program? Is one way more accurate than another?" It’s the same and it’s crap, they use the same sensors en the readout through the BIOS, always it’s an indication of more or less 10oC accuracy... "Lastly, what's considered an average temperature for a CPU? I want to make sure I did a good job with the thermal paste stuff." Who cares, if it doesn’t crash with a 24h burn in test it’s okay ... "Anyway, thanks again for all the help. Hopefully I'll be posting from my own computer soon." Your welcome... ow that wasn’t a question ...
  6. Jer, what ever dude, it´s good that you are 165ms ping away from me else you wil start to look for your mommy .... .... B)
  7. Whoooooo...... AAAaaaaa...... How much did you pay for it? And it looks like a 10 cored system... so powerfull and uses even less then 0.0001W... B)
  8. Motorola SB5100 is just a modem, no router, you could buy a router to protect your system a bit with "discard ping from WAN" or for example a D-Link DSD-150 Internet Security Adapter.
  9. "Please only answer this question if you know for sure! Please!" ... Any way, it will work . Don´t be scared to try things out when you build your own computer... Just one thing, don´t connect a harddrive after those fans, that is asking for trouble, other then that everything else will work fine.
  10. In combination with, almost right .
  11. Yeah, could be a Maxtor i.c.w. nVidia problem indeed (nForce 4 and up). That is what I was saying here .
  12. Yeah, could be a Maxtor i.c.w. nVidia problem indeed (nForce 4 and up). and: I run memtest+ 1.65 2hours ago and no problems. But is it true that this software does not work with dual channel memory and that, in this fact, no problems can't be found as if somes are there? Doesn´t have any thing to do with it, it will find problems if it exists .
  13. I think LLXX is talking about the drives with more platters, more heads heavier construction.
  14. Indeed, reset that modem. Power off for some time (could take up to 2 hours!) or try to reset that modem with the reset button on it (most of the time a little hole).
  15. It’s all about oxygen-free copper cables, you don’t need shielding. 2.08mm2 is 14 (Crazy numbers they use in America ), that would be fine for the surround speakers. I think those clips on the speakers can take up to 4mm2, that would be 12 or so. EDIT: Found this too: Going to #16 results in a 1.309 mm2 area and the #18 will give you 0.8231 mm2. Standard it comes with those cheap *ss 0.75mm2 .
  16. You can always change the cables, one of the thinks I dislike about those speaker set is the thin 0.75mm2 cables, get thicker ones like 2.5mm".
  17. No it´s 64bits, or 2x32bits .
  18. VMware isn’t happy with iNTELS new CPU, they say iNTEL misted the spot with there Virtualization Technology. You can read the full report here. Know this: It’s not only there Virtualization Technology also there 64bit APPS performance...
  19. VMware made a report on there program with both CPUs. Get the report here.
  20. They say they will...
  21. iNTEL has it too called: VT, AMD calls it Pacifica It’s used to emulate for example multiple environments like in VMware, here is a link on that. I hope that helped...
  22. A lot of question, but don’t be scared . The RAM you can test with a program called memTEST. Nothing bad will happen if you throw in that RAM into another computer, its 2.5-2.7v DDR so it will not burn or something. Just make sure to unload the PSU by disconnecting the power cable and by pushing after that the power on button in frond of your computer. About the X2: The X2 will be made until the end of the year AMD says, they already lowered the production and the processor will be harder to find in a few months. Most of the companies who import AMD will sell there stock now and not even buying new S939s any more, even the Sempron on socket 754 is loosing life but I think it will last a bit longer as budget/upgrade processor although prices of AM2 are dropping and DDR2 too. On the end it’s like this: You get what you pay for, even more now that the Intel/AMD war started again .
  23. 137GB for Windows 98 that is, Seagate has a "boot manager" that you can install when your BIOS doesn’t see the right size so don’t worry about the drive size. You already had 40GB so the 32GB barrier has been passed before. Yours is, you can safely buy this drive .
  24. , ... Well, bring it on . Edit: Do I have to change my country again? Make it a Dutch flag again? ... Nederland tegen Canada, OWYEAH! . Any way, my ping sux most of the time, but I´m thinking to get a second line and a better server here .
