  1. OEMs, like HP and DELL dude . Ow wait, that is you?
  2. HD Tune Version v2.52 indeed is very good, but will not give you any thing, could be that you can stress the drive until it crashes . It’s a mechanical thing and the software will not "see" any bad things. *HD Tune Version v2.52 RULEZ!!!
  3. @Spinman, Or test each drive separate, just connect it with the power supply and see what will happen in 1 hour or so, will be less hard the using the screw driver to your ear and your drive to listen to it. For sure it’s a ball bearing problem, SMART will indeed give you nothing and those test software also not. I’m sure you putted all drives on top of each other, this is why drives die faster but for sure you already knew that .
  4. @ Beppe, Yeah they made a way better chip then the P4 series indeed. Power usage went down from almost 100watts to less then 40. AMD has also 35watt CPUs by the way, did you see that? @ travisowens Jup, the OEMs go first, and boxed versions come later for the rest of the marked. I think you will only find tray versions of it until now, still didn’t see any boxed versions pass by. How does Prozac work? Never tried it @ ripken204 I like them both too, just hated the marketing of iNTEL as always .
  5. - It give more performance with onboard Video , - Lower prices, - Successor of the 939: http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=3253 - Few extra instruction sets that come with the higher Atlon64 (X2) models: http://www.amd.com/us-en/Corporate/Virtual...3~98372,00.html - Lower power, 35Watt, on some models, -Works for Sempron64 and Higher so easier upgrades... That´s where I can come up with so fast
  6. Most of the time the OC is hold back by the RAM you use. Can you give us some more specs of your PC and FSB/HT and speed settings?
  7. Those are tests with 32bit XP, and there iNTEL is teh winner, wait untill you see more 64bit apps .
  8. It uses hardware T&L, what kind of card do you have?
  9. You could swap those 7600GS for 7600GTs, that would give a cool boost because of the GDDR3 RAM speed. As far as I know it will outperform a single 7900GT card. Price will be the same after all , 2x 7600GT or a 7900GT that is.
  10. Yeah, just marketing crap, but for use it’s better then any P4 (8xx / 9xx) .
  11. Jup, but still 100 bucks more if you still have the RAM. Believe me, I’m switching to AM2 too, not even selling S754 any more except the system that are used for almost 1 year here in my cybercafé. I´m selling this board now; the ASUS M2NPV-VM Socket AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6150 and it rules of the DDR2 800MHz speed. Only I would do that if you are sure the CPU is 100%
  12. Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813157084 At this moment: $56.99 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819104245 At this moment: $59.00 Total 115.99 That onboard 6100 video will outperform the 5200 easily, I OCed it and got a performance of the 6200 out of it witch is NOT BAD for onboard. Also for future expansion you can throw in a PCI-E .
  13. Intel promises to start shipping more in 1 or 2 weeks. Did you see the benchmarks on 64bit? It will NOT outperform the AMD Sempron/Athlons 64 at 64bit in all applications .
  14. S939 is almost dead Ripken, so indeed with his RAM a S754 would be the best option .
  15. I’m just going to watch where this going too... Shindo_Hikaru and ripken204, I have the strange feeling you are pointing LordFett in the wrong direction, but well, who am I to feel that ... LordFett, did you read what I posted? "I would try another power supply and also check the core if it´s not damaged eg. look for broken corners." And if you switch to S754, go for an ASRock K8NF4G-SATA2 NF4 integrated graphics board (nVIDIA GeForce 6100), or the AM2 version of this board. Nice price and rock stable. Remember that ASRock is a daughter company of ASUS . Gigabyte works but it´s not the best brand in the marked...
  16. I would try another power supply and also check the core if it´s not damaged eg. look for broken corners. Let us know what you find out .
  17. Yeah, indeed, not possible. "Can I make a $100 Computer, can u help me to find some cheap parts", the answer is No. or it must be a stolen truck or some thing with computers . A old second hand computer will not even do the trick, you will need a decent hard drive to burn DVDs any way so forget to try it with a 8.4 to 20GB drive. $200 would be a better bet but even then... ...
  18. Soon we live on mars to f*ck up the place there . Europe always worked on "laws" for clean industry, also worked on a standard for energy usage. If you go to the shop there you can see on stickers placed on the product, for example a refrigerator, how much it will use a year. I moved from The Netherlands (Holland) to Mexico and I’m missing these stickers, even I can’t find labels on the equipment of wattage use and so, not even thinking about the "COS Pi" (Angle between voltage and amperes) to calculate the “real” power usage of a product. Any way, safety standards are high in Europe, especially in Sweden and Norway .
  19. You were asking for it and I gave it to you, only you need an adaptor to switch from IDE on your mobo to the SATA of that card . Any thing else would be a solid state disk, that is not a PCI card ramdisk .
  20. The 24 pin ATX connector is separately from the 12v 4 pin connector that will supply power to your CPU. New motherboards use 24 pin connectors in stead of 20. Most Power supplies will work on 20 AND 24 pins motherboards so don’t worry when you buy a 24 pins one .
  21. Gigabyte has one also, let me get the link for you, brb. Edit: here you go.
  22. ripken in p*ssed off mode , ripken COOLING fan needed... just joking. I think it’s just his English, but your right, people just don’t read and want an answer in 1 minute, 5 seconds and 3 nano-seconds MSFN.org is the best
  23. Also, ball bearings make more noise, there are fans with sleeve bearing that are a few dB/A lower but they last 70% of the life of the ball bearing ones but that won’t be a problem for most home users .
  24. There are some floppy drives that connect to IDE, like those old SL120 drives. But for sure most people won´t have it .
  25. Yup, just buy a new power supply, looks like a normal size. Get a good one from Enermax, Antec or so. Think a bit about the future so get one with 24 pins ATX and that has SATA connectors, if you want to spend a bit more get the ones that support SLI (If you are planning to upgrade in the next year AND you play games that is ).
