  1. I just did with you on MSN
  2. *puntoMX shakes his head * Always I like to see how people trow away there money, I wish I had some of you guys as my customers .
  3. The Asus P5a has problems with TNT2 and some GF2 cards. That motherboard is based on the ALi chipset and doesn´t support 100% AGP2/4x. Think again... I presume you are running 98?
  4. Memory: Four 184-pin DDR SDRAM DIMM sockets Support for DDR 400, DDR 333, and DDR 266 Support for up to 4 GB of system memory So those DDR2 don´t fit any way .
  5. 256kB VS 512kB no, 256kB VS 1024kB yes...
  6. Depends what you like to spend on it... And how much you want to put inside it...
  7. You will not get much out of double the cache of your CPU. I would stick with what you have now unless it’s not good enough you can go to a S939 X2 CPU. When you have 2 DIMMs with the same size you can enable 128bit mode on S939. If that still isn’t enough you can go Core2Duo...
  8. First one is DDR(1) and second one DDR2, so, there are very few motherboards that have DDR and DDR2. What motherboard do you have any way? EDIT: And NEVER you can use DDR and DDR2 together...
  9. Okay, so it´s AGP, why don´t you go for a 256MB 7600GS? EDIT: There is a new article of VGA cards on Toms Hardware. Read it before you swap yours .
  10. , A little to exteme but cool B).
  11. jcarle, listen, it’s just the PCB you are buying from the brands that you sum up, none of them make there own chips. You just can talk about brand-on-brand and brand-on-3rd. You like brand-on-3rd and there is nothing wrong with that, you just pay a bit more. More and more brands give lifetime warranty, and that’s a good thing to see, although it could be marketing too with some brands. The only brands to stay away from are the ones who use remarked chips, like Spectec (The one with the Superman logo). I think that I know what you are thinking, and you will be right on that point: Some brands, like the brands you sum up, give a speed warranty with a bigger tolerance then others, so when you OC you will need the ones with bigger tolerance or an higher model. With that said I can tell you that you will be better of buying a higher model, in speed, witch is almost the same price by the way, then another brand that is more expensive. There are also the “extreme” models, well, that is a totally other story. Those have specially selected chips, mostly tested in there labs before implementing, that can take more speed. Those chips are used above there specs. This is when you will get stuck with OZC and other brands. A Toyota isn’t build 100% by Toyota by the way, non of the car brands are. It’s just Assembled by Toyota, like brand-on-3th... Dude, I like to argue a bit with you on MSN .
  12. Price dropped a lot I see, I found thisone too, just $11.99 I need to test those with DVD-RW drives my self. Let’s see if I can get 8 DVD drives to work at 16x speed at the same time, just for the fun of it...
  13. Yeah, worst thing you could buy for in your computer. They sell them like new in Mexico, always I have to send them back to get me a new one... d*mn bastards... Don’t look more, you got it .
  14. That’s strange, I use the VIA VT6421L chip and it can handle DVD burners at ATA66 with no problem, even when I burn at 16x. I use them when people run out of PATA lines on there motherboard. This chip supports 2 SATA drives and 2 PATA drives. Info here. Note that these cards cost like 10-15 US$. From there site: "Compliant with the Serial ATA specification 1.0, the VIA VT6421 offers high performance Serial ATA RAID functionality to the full spectrum of PC processor platforms for desktops, mobile systems and servers. Supporting all kinds of ATA and ATAPI devices, including HDDs, CDs, DVDs, high capacity removable devices and featuring 32-bit PCI and PCMCIA interfaces, the VIA VT6420 enables seamless transition to the emerging Serial ATA technology for PCs and mobile systems." Let me see what guys and girls at cdfreaks.com say... EDIT: I forgot to say that more of my customers have this, and I don’t use it for my self. I was looking at the posts on cdfreaks.com and I see that people have problems with some Silicon Image chips and the some cards from Promise. Found this on newegg´s page: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16816132009 Silicon Image stuff indeed doesn’t work with optical drives... that sux...
  15. "I will start to overclock on the weekend." Always cool too see overclockings
  16. Okay, so it’s SATA to PATA. But those devices are more expensive and don’t work with all HDDs or optical drives.
  17. Indeed, forgot that it was only one port... my fault. But it’s easy to see how the circuit goes; each port has 2 lines coming from the chip, you should be able to see what ports/pins are used. The card I have right now in my hand has 4 eternal ports and one place for one internal port or pin-line.
  18. Wow, normally the system unloads DLLs to free up physical RAM... But 2GB... that is a lot...
  19. Ripken, He doesn´t have SATA drives so why would he do that?
  20. jcarle, never tried other ones? There are so many brands that are the same quality as the ones you list up. I prefer to use A-DATA, Transcend, TwinMOS and many others, any time above Kingston Value RAM for example. And believe me, I know what crap is. Working 3 years as a RMA manager fro a big Dutch company that was selling all types of ram will give you enough inside what is, and what is not. It’s simple, if they are remarket chips, leave them (80% crap). If they say Samsung or other REAL BRAND then 80% will be okay. I’m not scared to buy ANY OEM brand because I know the market.
  21. RELAX! No fire here! . If you buy the cards with VIA chip it will even work with Optical devices, so since most cards use that chip most cards will work.
  22. It has uses the same lanes as the USB connector next to it, so if you solder there DO NOT use that connector next to it.
  23. So, you are talking about DDR2 and AGP? A 935 iNTEL CPU without PCI-E? I don´t think that the Gigabyte motherboard will work with that CPU. Can you give us the link of both motherboards please?
