  1. You never know, he´s still posting here .
  2. Nice, a 7950GT... But I would wait a month if you have that time, the 8600 series from nVidia would be a nice option. For the same price it will outperform the 7xxx series any time and you will get DX10. Just my 2 cents .
  3. Reduced performance of a few realworld %, I would not even look at that. @ spacesurfer, The jump from 512 to 1.5GB will make the diference . Good luck with using them both, it could be posible that you have the set the right speed in your BIOS manual, just keep the lowest speed for that.
  4. Widescreen versions have smaller pixels in general so that would explain a smaller pixel pitch. The contrast ratio would be important when you really want black to be black, the higher the contrast rate the darker the screen can get; the crystals inside the screen block the white backlight better.
  5. With other words: Normaly it has 1280*1024, but the widescreen version will give you 1440*900. I personaly like the widescreens more when I´m on the net, work with Exel or using 3D rendering apps. If you do video editing I would go for the widescreen as well b/c of the timelines (edit bars). For games, personaly I like the square sceens better and for movies the widescreens.
  6. i´ve seen it before, the ISP does it when they want that you only connect one computer to the net. Most of the time it comes with the cheapest, let´s say 64-128kbps, connections. Sux big time I know...

    Old Pong

Most of those are running on other machines too, I for example had a MSX (the MS stands for MicroSoft ) and there are a few emulators too. I loved Zaxxon (Shoot-em-up) an Thexder (that transformer ).
  8. lol, Okay guys, tell me; How are you going to connect USB to a router or switch. If you found one that can do that then let me know and I will order 100 of them directly.
  9. "GeForce 8800 Ultra to Come Out on April 17" It seems that the release date of the 8800 Ultra with GDDR4 RAM, 8600, 8500, 8400 and 8300 will be all released on April 17. For the people that have questions with the 8500; It’s based on the same core as the 8600 but clocked on 450MHz and has GDDR2 RAM @400(800)MHz. There is still little to non info on the 8400. EDIT: Forgot to say that the 8500GT, with a price of 79US$ to 99US$, outperforms the 7600GS. It will be unlikely that these cards will have passive cooling witch was found on several 7600GS cards.
  10. Internet Connection Sharing @ripken, You would be supprised to see for how much they sell a xDSL modem with gateway or router. And then there is the question if the ISP acceps it.
  11. Ok, but those scanners have most of the time a big RAM or a Harddrive. I know them too but I was pointing at the 50-500 US$ range
  12. Scanners don´t work in TCP/IP networks, so you will only be able to use the printer option of that multi-purpose printer.
  13. I would do the data recovery before formating else your file names will be named like file numbers and not with the file name, so, unless you don´t want to rename the whole recovery then I would format after the data recovery .
  14. There is a HD-audio update from MicroSoft, look at there site, but i think you will find it on the install CD from your mobo too. When you download the driver-pack from Realtek it should include that KB-update from MicroSoft. Let us know what you find out...
  15. Hmm, okay, when you install the drivers there is no option to switch channels, strange thing is that it should not switch the channels. What I would do is to look in some INI files, to see if you can find some thing there. I hope for you that some one else can help you along with it, I´m lost here...
  16. Most cards (soundchips) have that option. Tell us first what chip-model it is or give us the motherboard brand and type so we can help you out better.
  17. LOL, Changing your HDD will not give you much more game-speed .
  18. Did you read what is behind the link Jeremy posted? Listen, it´s not your normal hardware, it´s just the not well coded game that doesn´t run smooth on A LOT OF VGA CARDS. It´s not your HDD... If you like the game then I would wait a few months till the 8600x cards are out, sell the one you have now and for a 100 bucks you are ready to go. I don´t know what kind of screen you are using? or on what resolucion you are playing? But most of the time 256MB is enough, I would always go for a higher GPU other then more video RAM. Just answer my questions please so we know what advice more we can give .
  19. Rosewill R5604-BK 0.8mm SECC Screw-less Dual 120mm Fans ATX Mid Tower Computer Case, Got ya... Small compact case, and not to expensive and sure not flimsy (0.8mm SECC). Timeless design. How is the plastic? Does it feel strong?
  20. The top tab is to thing, this is why they break to easy. I have seen it before. Also the cable to the LCD could be defective. If you are handy you could start to buy that cable on eBay, but you have to take the whole thing apart. If you are not handy then you could take it to a repair shop but the charge big money to fix it, like 100 US$ for the cable and or 250-350 for the LCD, to d@mn expensive if you ask me. Let us know if you need some help .
  21. Welcom to the forum zaphirer. I can´t see any thing bad on that screen shot... But, 2 things I could think of: - Bad RAM, remember it´s shared RAM for system and VGA; Test it with MEMtest or so. - LCD Display connections on top of the screen, that you cant fix, are bad; Test it with the VGA/TV out if posible. Also, as a tip, I would look at nLite to kick out the crap from XP you will never use, more info on nLite you can find here on the forum .
  22. Can´t find it? I think I´m lost here...
  23. dirtwarrior, What case are you going to buy? I was missing some info on that...
