  1. EPP is just marketing... It will set the best timings for you automatic but with some tweaking/restarting you can do it yourself. It´s just made for nOObs .
  2. Where do you want me to slap you? Happy that your home-build PC is working well, congrads .
  3. Ripken, he has a ASUS M2N-SLI that has 1 4 pin 12V connector on board. I see taht he also doesn´t have the molex connector for extra power on SLI. So, just one 4 pin 12V connector and the 24 pin ATX .
  4. Well, yes, they can rip out the keys from Windows XP and Office, but I´m not worried about that b/c it´s faster for them to google a code . Even it´s posible to copy the games, but not for the comon nOOb. The "game drive" is blocked to access, only with a password you can access it or the shortcuts on the desktop. In the night we restore the "program drive" in less then 5 minutes so the next day we start with a clean place. I don´t use any "cybercafé" software, time control is done on with an exel sheet. Just Simple ... For the server I use Clarkconnect (free to use up to 10 clients), everybody has it´s own up(128kbps)/downstream(384kbps), so they can install all the crap they want on those computers and download where ever they want. Some place have more then 10 computers; I use 2 internet lines, 2 servers and Hamachi there. Total cable speed is 2.5Mbit by the way.
  5. Question again: Did you connect the 4 pin 12V powerconnector to the mobo? EDIT: Most 8600GT cards don´t have the powerconnector, and don´t worry about that SLI powerconnector but it´s not bad to connect it. So, if you do everything well, you should have that 24 pin ATX, 4 pin 12V and a molex (5.25" power) connected to the mobo.
  6. I would say the powersupply, the green LED is to indicate that the 5Volt line is okay... Unplug everything from the powersupply exept the 24pin and the 4 pin 12V connector. By the way, did you connect the 12V connector?
  7. For 80% sure it´s the mobo; You can replace the mobo eith a standard S478 one, but this time I would buy one with a IGP/AGP in you can´t find one with PCI-E. I would go with a ASRock P4VM890 or so, it even has a PCI-E sloth and isn´t that expensive... If you need some help, ask us .
  8. he already has Acronis TrueImage, it has the same options as Norton Ghost so no need to chance there . I use Acronis in my cybercafes. Just press F11 and it backups everything in 4 minutes (Windows and his programs). The games are protected with other stuff so the customer can´t copy them or chance any thing on them, not even delete them.
  9. It´s true that iNTEL based mobos use like 10Watts less tops, but in a complete system AMD uses still less power. I use some Sempron64 AM2 here at 35watts with 1GB DDR2 800, 320 WD SATA drive, DVD-ROM, cheap *ss powersupply (400W max. rated) and a ASUS mobo with nVidia 6150LE chipset. The whole system uses idle a bit more then 50VA, while under load with games 85VA, including the 19" HP1907W it uses 120VA under full load , not bad I think. In Mexico the energy cost are high, about 0.19US$ for each kWh so I need low consumption computers for a reasonable price. EDIT: Waiting for the new mobos to como in with AMD 690G and 690V chipsets, with this the powerusage will drop an other 10Watts (load) . http://www.hothardware.com/articles/AMDs_6...esting/?page=15
  10. Depends on your mobo chipset, not on that mouse .
  11. Could be: - Powersupply, try an other if you can... - RAM, use MEMtest to check it out... - Mobo, nothing to test here, replace it directly... - ... - Small chance the CPU, switch it with an other one if posible... Looks like time for an upgrade ...
  12. So again, 35Watts MAX LOAD! for a NORMAL NO MOBILE ADD3800IAT5CU AMD 3800X2 Price in a webshop in the USA: 224 US$ Fan included and fit´s on every AM2 board. Compared with 34Watts MAX LOAD! mobile 478pin Intel® Core™2 Duo Mobile Processor T5500 Price in a webshop in the USA: 205 US$ NO fan included and doesn´t fit on every S478 board. Speed should be about the same, depending on your apps.. When using google on the AMD number I found this: http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/09/25/gre...hine/index.html brucevangeorge, when I read your posts above, I see no reason why you would need a low power consumption CPU. Just buy a 6x00 CPU from iNTEL and your done (other people say so ). What is keeping you from it?
  13. Yes it does, it´s not only DPi where we are talking about also the refresh freq.. nLite for example has the tweak build in, for the hardcore gamers among us .
  14. http://www.esreality.com/?a=post&id=1265679 Found that link, to bad it´s only M$, Logitech and one A4 mice...
  15. Soon you will find AMD Sempron64 CPUs at 9Watts that fit on a S754 or AM2 mobo with a nVidia61X0 or AMD690X chipset (onboard video) with also low power consumption. How much power do you need any way? EDIT: Need more power? ADD3800IAT5CU AMD 3800X2 CPU is your friend, 35Watts...
  16. Then get one ASAP . I bet you already found your problem there... and you computer will run like never before...
  17. Then I go with the others, I know you like ASUS but that DFI Lanpart Ultra-D is a bad *ss mobo, great price and so much OC options, not to forget rock stable.
  18. Why would I use a mirror? For the smooth surface. It seems that lasermice work better on shiny/reflecting surfaces, so for sure my new mouse is going to be a lasermouse. It seems that they are cheap these days...
  19. Did you do any thing like I posted?
  20. If the RAM is set on 225MHz and you don´t want to go higher then 1.66V with that CPU, then I think 2.9GHz like you have now is the end. More expensive motherboards have settings for chipset voltage, if you only could get that extra 0.1V on the chipset you could have hit that 3GHz...
  21. I would get an internal 3.5" to 2.5" IDE connector (if it´s PATA).
  22. That´s hard to tell. I hope the problem stays away for you, if not read our first posts again .
  23. That stockcooler can handle 1.7volts with ease. But I think it´s a RAM problem, try to set de devider so you will have a lower speed.
  24. But eeuhmmm... Why the S939? What about going with AM2? DDR2 is even cheaper these days then DDR...
