  1. A computer may have the capacity to expand its "database" and instantaneously/sinumltaneously recall all information it collects, but that is far different than reproducing. In order for that to happen, humans first have to develop the vast understanding necessary to create robots that can create child robots. Scientists can't even recreate a heart implant anywhere near as efficient as the human heart. The point is, we have a very, very..... very long way to go. And Zxian is absolutely correct. Humans first must create the computer to hold a capacity to surpass 6-7 billion human beings' intelligences. But if the computer will be able to do that, it will also be able to do the supernatural things some humans are capable of doing, despite it being absent of factual evidence. Being able to move something with your mind, which is simply relating your own energy with the energy of the object you wish to move. I know a lot of people consider that a load of crap, but I've actually done it and have friends that do it occasionally in their spare time. Just using a different part of your brain. Being able to sense something to occur in the future, as another example... Clairyovance, Premonitions, having a spiritual Third Eye which allows one to "see" spiritual energy. All just different functions of the human brain that no one has figured out yet. My main point is... how can we as partial knowing humans create a "device" that is capable of outsmarting the Entire Population of Our Planet??? Unless, of course, you simply mean calculations... the speed of processing the data. A 100 THz processor...?
  2. Whatever works for you.
  3. I tried BitDefender and didn't like it at all. It installs 4 Services and has at least half a dozen processes running which immediately reminded me of Norton. The interface was awful, I basically couldn't stand it. That's just me, though.
  4. Perhaps you should try Acronis instead.
  5. UltraISO will help you significantly in your ventures. Cheers.
  6. You can remove IE, but keep the IE Core to fix this problem.
  7. Just looks like the normal toolbar in IE with a skin on it.
  8. I have VGA Silencer attached to my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro.
  9. The only thing you will have problems with will be the motherboard, see the screw holes on it have to matches the holes on the inside of the case to screw it down, but the thing is, if you can align even one or 2 holes up and screw them down, then put a PCI card or two in and screw those in, that will hold the mobo there. I had my Dell Dimenion 8300 mobo in my Antec Midtower. I will never buy or recommend to anyone a case without the ability to have a front fan installed. Poor airflow just leads to more and more problems. The dust collection inside my Dell case lead to clogging on the tiny fan on my ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, which caused it to overheat, which caused my PC problems. So even the things you don't normally think about lead to problems that you will be thinking plenty about!
  10. Cooling systems? Ha, pfft. Get an Antec case with a 120mm Panaflo fan on the back, an 80mm Panaflo fan on the front, a Zalman heatsink, keep multiple HDs as far apart as possible. The inside of my PC is the coolest place in the apartment.
  11. Dell sucks. Get this case! (Canadian site) Newegg One
  12. BitComet does this and you can hide most of the GUI features in the View menu.
  13. Trillian. The only thing I hate about the GUI is that the scroll bar on the contacts list sticks there even when the list isn't longer than the length of the window!
  14. Prices go up all the time. People can't afford things, so they pirate them. It's a lifestyle nowadays...
  15. I'm waiting for the 10 TB/sec drives because I'll never be happy.
  16. I recommend BitComet because it's very simple, it's more simple than BitSpirit which has many advanced configurations that would confuse people. It also has different names for common things named in BitComet. And don't believe the "low memory usage" feature of BitSpirit, I used it and it took just as much as BitComet. There's a zip package of it, too. Unzip, use, associate with torrent files, enable DHT Network feature, ready to go.
  17. Also, different anti-spyware tools have different definitions of what spyware is, so they might come with more or less entries that they classify as spyware. I've scanned with Ad-Aware SE Pro v1.06, Spybot v1.4 and M$ Antispyware Beta and they all came up with 0.
  18. I've tried most of them and BitComet is my favorite.

I like this thread. Half Life 2 - Aftermath Expansion Pack!
  20. I just installed Sygate Personal Firewall Pro and I love it.
  21. Get a FireWire PCI card with a TI (Texas Instruments) chipset, or if you know someone else with a very recent motherboard it might have onboard FireWire built into it. Yes, USB transfer for DV is crap. Once you have your FW card and cable, use WinDV to capture. You'll need a DV codec also. I suggest you use the Panasonic DV codec. As for the FireWire Drivers, here you go.
  22. I use those 3 when diagnosing my friends' PCs. I use nLite, Opera 8.02 and a D-Link 604 Router and have 0 spyware/viruses. Steve Gibson is a genius of Windows Security. http://grc.com/securitynow.htm
  23. Does anyone know of some website(s) that explain how long you can be online without a SPed/patched PC, SP1, SP2, and so forth before you are compromised by malicious files? I remember reading something like that ages ago, but can't seem to find it now.
