How to hotlink this link?
Woomera replied to Woomera's topic in Web Development (HTML, Java, PHP, ASP, XML, etc.)
Well actualy one point is that u hotlink it and the other point is that i like to learn it.see i study network engineering and i love networking.so its just that i dont like saying"I CANT DO IT". anyway,i figured that out already that you need to have an open session to the server.i just wanted to know if theres any more to it? so lets say it just need an open session, can i use tcp connecting codes in php/html to first make the client make a connection to target and then activate the link? -
My ISP use traffic limitation of a certain GB per month for their user's.i found an strange bug in their limitation software, when i download or browse websites the statistics in their website for my user shows the amount of traffic i had and show the remain limitation.Till now everything is fine but the funny thing is that if i try to download a video/audio file with a direct link ex: http://website.com/download/video.wmv ,when i click on a link like this jetaudio automaticly get the link for playing and start to download the file.after the download is finished jetaudio plays the file and i also have a copy of the file, the funny thing is that after a download like this with jetaudio i check my statistics and it hasnt changed.meaning that it didnt count the download. itried downloading another file with my download manager to see if it changes and it did.itried the wmv file again and still nothing changed. i thought that they may only monitor HTTP ports and the wmv file is pointing to a link with a custom port but it wasnt.all my download using remote port 80 and still audio/video files are not getting counted by their software. Now i wanna know why? whats the logic or explanation behind this? they both use remote tcp port 80 so whats the diffrence?

I dont know about any program that cause something like this.though i heared of viruses that might do things like this. so i recommend you to first look for viruses on your machine. then check device manager and see if the hardware completely disapeared. if it wasnt in device manager you might wanna check the cables and if not take it to guarantee.

Jeremy almost said it all but dont forget about registry cleaning,u can use "Tuneup Utilities" or "system mechanic" for cleaning the registry or temp/cache and also junk files and duplications. and one more trigger is services in windows, disable those you dont need.

Please help me to advertise my forum.Urgent
Woomera replied to blackmodder's topic in Websites and Boards
I had the same problem first i started my website. as for the search engines you can use meta tags for better search result during user search. as for advertising you can find new or nearly new websites and send email to the admin of that website and ask for AD exchange.i did this with one website. other than these i dont think you can do anything useful -

Password protect the screensaver without locking?
Woomera replied to sys6x's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
ok as there might not be an official way but i believe you still have one more chance to take, what if you find an screensaver that has a built-in password protection? windows requier's you to do alt+ctrl+delete for entering WINDOWS username and password, but if the software itself has a password protection then you just have to enter the set password. i did a little search and found one but havnt tried it myself but i guess it worth tryin: "SeaStorm 3D Screensaver" -
Password protect the screensaver without locking?
Woomera replied to sys6x's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
im a little confused here, what do you mean by alt+ctrl+delete? you mean that if they move mouse it asks for password and if they use alt+ctrl+delete in screensaver mode it wont? or it ask for password in screensaver mode and not in login mode when windows ask for username password? well if you want your screensaver have password but not your windows logon you can automate the login so windows insert the password automaticly and set screensaver to requier password.for automating the logon you can use utilities like TUNEUP UTILITIES or using the windows xp group policy, though i cant tell you where exactly cause im on vista and dont have xp installed. -
For AV i recommend Kaspersky and for firewall im using kaspersky anti-hacker and its very good. though it would be better if i could use Jetico but i tried the beta ver2 and it had so many bugs.the final ver is out but havnt tried it yet.

Constant Network Activity on Tray Icon with Wireless
Woomera replied to spacesurfer's topic in Networks and the Internet
I agree with cluberti.if tcpview doesnt show any stablished connections then you have to run packet capturing.though it might be an act of a trojan or something like that.do you have an up-to-dateAntiVirus? -
