many tasks need Explorer.exe, even systray icons I think. I think you are doing things in the wrong order, first, check if everything works fine (including Aston) if Windows doesn't startup explorer.exe at startup, you can do this by Start>Run type msconfig and disable explorer.exe. restart pc. Only if everything runs fine you can start thinking about removing explorer.exe, but why remove it actually? why not just disable? seems a lot better for stability issues.

I tried this app once but its only an app launcher... not a taskbar replacer, opened or minimized windows wont appear on the dock. I think Objectdock is still the only good dock for windows, not as light on resources but works very good. RK Launcher is better with resources but still in early development stage.

I create my own Default Profile, pack it up to an archive (you could use 7z or zip or whatever) and let it extract to the default profile after Firefox get installed Just install Firefox and start it like this: "C:\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe" -profile defaults\profile" Now it will be started using default profile, install: all the themes you want all the extensions you want all the searchplugins you want add the tweaks (about:config) etc. extensions & themes will only be applied when Firefox is restarted, ofcourse you start it up again with the command given above! Set the theme you want and done. export: "Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\profile" and "Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins" to a sfx archive. Done! PS: when installing searchplugins, they might be placed in Mozilla Firefox\defaults\profile\searchplugins, just cut & paste them to "Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins".

Just tried the VBS code mentioned in the topic on a pc with VBS support, doesn't work! (copy paste it to a textfile with .vbs extension). when I name the file test.cmd and run it in a command window, I get an error for the last line: "objFolderItem.InvokeVerb" is not recognized as internal or external command, program or batchfile.

just do it with TweakUI and use regshot to monitor what registry changes have been made, put them in a reg file.

I created this topic because I wanted to know how to set the Left Pane/Favorites of the Start menu unattendedly. There is a method in this topic, using a VBS script. But antivirus software don't like VBS and neither do I. After testing and trying I found the HKU regtweak responsible for the Left pane. There was actually one problem: the regkey is user-specific and when a user account is created, this key is NOT imported from the HKCU or HKU\.Default. This makes it very hard to do it unattendedly, if you want to set it for ALL users, also those created in the future! Here is the solution: Just set the left pane of your Start Menu exactly the way YOU want. Goto Start>Run..> type 'regedit' press ENTER. go to this key, rightclick Startpage and export it to a regfile you call usertweaks.reg: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StartPage Open the regfile, you only need "FavoritesResolve", "Favorites" and "FavoritesChanges". You can delete the rest, this makes the regfile A LOT smaller. (perhaps you don't even need FavoritesResolve, not tested). I disabled "My Music" and "My Videos". Only have My Documents and My Pictures AND "Music" (not a personal folder). My Startmenu, right-pane looks like this (Top to bottom): My Documents My Pictures Music My Computer Search Run.. Now I want "Movies" to be in the list! Also not a personal folder, just like Music. I want it right after Music... Somehow this seems to be impossible. Actually I only refer to Shockwave, I don't use installer for Flash, don't see the point. it is just 2 files for Firefox\Plugins folder, same for IE but the files are included in the RyanVM pack (eng/nl). I was a bit wrong about Shockwave, I DO get the Yahoo Toolbar in IE. So Shark's Shockwave installer is a solution. It is just that I prefer not to use custom installers, because then I am dependent on Shark, if a new update comes out, I just have to hope Shark will have time to update his installer. Thats why, if there would be a solution (no Yahoo and no popup) for the original installer (using a switch or something like that) I would prefer it. The supersmall script I use is no problem, because I can simply upgrade by just checking the official downloadpage. But I really don't want Yahoo toolbar so I will use Sharks installer. And about "Switchless", what is the difference in: run install.exe or run install.exe /s ? "Switchless" has become such a popular term while it doesn't really add anything useful in my opinion, a bit overrated word. EDIT @Shark & Muiz: May I suggest savefile.com? it's a filehost, not as bloated as rapidshare but the biggest benefit: you can create Projects, for instance a uA WinXP project, all files related you can add to your project with a description for each (for example version number) and a description for the project.

Please download again! The previous .reg file DID create the Default soundscheme (=called Windows Vista) , but it also applied "NO soundscheme" as the current scheme, instead of the Default soundscheme. I'm sure it works now, will test tomorrow. Enjoy. Previous version was downloaded 16 times.

Windows Vista Soundscheme [ DOWNLOAD ] The .reg file renames the Default Soundscheme to "Windows Vista" & modifies it with the Vista sounds. It will also set the Windows Vista soundscheme as the current one to be used. download the file, the Media folder belongs in the Windows directory. Add the .reg file to your general regtweaks.reg (runned @T12) file for uA install. Note: the hkey_current_user will be tweaked, this only works for all users when applied during T12.

PrimoPDF has a more 'clear' and easier interface, that's why I like it And for pdfcreator you need to install gs seperately (I think). PrimoPDF just seems the best free pdfcreator to me. So I created a autoit installer cos it seems only the enterprise version has silent install PrimoPDF silent install

Ofcourse there are others, but PrimoPDF looks more user-friendly! PDFcreator and others don't look as clear. And it offers encryption.

I think it is the best cos it is easy to use and gives you quality options for the output and you can set author and stuff. ofcourse all this is possible with others, but they are not as clear and easy as this one. With PDF T-Maker you can even set it to create pdfs maintaining weblinks and documentstructures. I hate the way the Media Library works now (I mean the online stuff, shoutcast tv etc, it is now an online browser.. can't even find the things I used to watch) But using an old Winamp version is no use... they disabled the option to download the shoutcast library I hope stable/good working version of Songbird will come out soon!

1 tip, 1 thought: The Tip, With the Audio and Video Configuration of FFDshow you are able to export the settings. So I modded my settings just like your site says, merged the two .reg files (when exporting from Audio Configuration it will save a .reg file, dito for Video Configuration) and uploaded it for you. You can modify the .bat Installer so that it will apply the default recommended settings for Ffdshow by running the .reg file silently. The Thought, I actually didn't use the pack, cos I use MediaPlayerClassic to play all video and Winamp for audio. BUT then I thought of this: if mp3/audioCD/Wave/Ogg/AAC files would be played through Ffdshow, I would be able to add DSP effects (check the audio config). So now my Question, If I enable in ffdshow mp3, ogg etc, and I play an ogg vorbis music file in MediaPlayerClassic, will it use ffdshow (and the DSPeffects I added)? or will it still use MPC? Would I need to uncheck ogg in Mpc or something for this? 1 minor question: if I already have msvcr71.dll in system32 folder, do I need to have it in the Ogg splitter folder? (if I would use the pack I'd like to know.) EDIT: Although I use WinAMP for Audio and MPC for video, MPC is so light and fast I also want it to be able to play a song sometimes.
