    nLite 1.0.1 Final

(for these 2 tests I only installed .Net 1.1+2.0, Office 2003, Firefox and 7-zip, all with RunOnceEx at T12/13). It seems to be more complicated then I thought, pretty sure it is a real bug. I have attached 2 Last Session.ini's. They are identical except for one thing: :LastSession1 shows I also removed most of the keyboard layouts. LastSession2 is the one I just tried: I kept all keyboard layouts. the following bugs appear (Dutch WinXP SP2 original CD): ERROR 1: appears in both setups. See the screenshots below, notice I didn't remove anything concerning Terminal Services. ERROR 2: Keyboard & Mouse don't work at first boot (and after). Strangely: this happened with both setups! So even with the CD that still contained all keyboardlayouts! This is the weirdest error I ever had with nLite, been using nLite since v0.86, never had such strange errors. screenshots of error 1: For a translation of this window, see post #35. I think this stage is called T9, not sure, see #35 for more info. When I click "Voltooien" (Dutch for "Finish"), I can see the progressbar was at "Configuring Terminal Services", and it continued directly with "Finishing configuration of WMI". The installation continues normally until first boot, WIHU is started so that I can create users... but the keyboard and mouse don't work. Since keyboard & mouse don't work it is impossible for me to create a user or login and open SETUPERR.LOG. Keyboard/mouse don't work in Safe Mode either. I hope all the info is clear and someone can clear this up... Last_Session2.ini Last_Session1.ini
  2. Ofcourse I meant integrating in Windows, not in Windows Setup. I don't like add-ons/installing apps from svcpack. Rather have my apps installed by RunOnceEx @T12/13. This way I can simply use the original installers and I am independent of any user-created installer. Thanks for the info about HFSLIP, but I decided not to do it... have to learn about hfslip.. too hot for that

    nLite 1.0.1 Final

I actually also removed keyboard support for all except German & English (US) languages (Dutch wasn't in the list, but Dutch keyboard doesn't excist it's just US I guess) .. unfortunately now my keyboard doesn't work! I don't understand this either.. The only solution for this: don't remove any keyboard layouts... but then that option would be useless. So I can't checkout setuperr.log Will nLite again and try it out.
  4. @titou2k: instead of creating wmlite11, can you please fix WMLite10? it's not silent installer anymore... also tried with a ini file (used the Qtlite as example, renaming it to WMLite10.ini, same name as WMLite10.exe, and renaming the part [QTLite] to [WMLite10]. Doesn't work...still get a manual installer setup! EDIT: both WMLite10 exe and ini should be named: WMLite.exe! Then it works. Can you please rename the file on your site? its called "WMLite10 202.1.0.2.exe".

    nLite 1.0.1 Final

Using nLite 1.0.1, with WinXPsp2 original CD (Dutch), selecting the SAME things I selected months ago with 1.0beta6 or rc6, I am getting a very strange error! During Classic Setup, Installation of Windows Parts Status: Terminal Services: configuring basic-Terminal Services. A Window pops up, "Wizard new Hardware Found" "There is a problem with the installation of the hardware:" (My Computer Logo) System An error has occured during the installation of the device. --> "A service-installationsection in this INF file is invalid". Never seen this before, well ofcourse I've seen a Wizard New Hardware before... but not at this very early stage of setup! And it isn't suppose to be there... Just to be clear: this is BEFORE T12/13. Not sure if its really a bug so I didn't post it, yet.
  6. Newest Quicktime Alternative 1.71 now contains newest QuickTime codecs 7.0.4.80 for compatibility with 64-bit systems. Also the QuickTime DirectShow filter has been replaced for a newer one.
  7. At that moment, there is no wallpaper loaded yet. It's simply a color. You can modify the color, but the wallpaper will be loaded after RunOnceEx has finished. Use this final command in cmdlines.txt: [COMMANDS] "RunOnceEx.cmd" "REGEDIT /S regtweaks.reg" "gebruikers.cmd" "CHKNTFS /T:0" "rundll32.exe iernonce.dll,RunOnceExProcess" Now RunOnceEx will run at T13, installing all your Progs/updates whatever. And set as the last command to run in your runOnceEx: ....AfterInstall\RunOnceEx2.cmd, if there are things that cannot be installed at T13, you can put it in this 2nd RunOnceEx that will run at first boot. The nice thing: overall install time will be faster, since everything is installed at T13. You will see your modified image of the classic windows setup, You can make the RunOnceEx transparent as well (see last post in that topic). Actually, everything except for WMP10Lite will install correctly at T13. For Office there is a simple adjustment needed, search for Office at T12/13... the topic is here somewhere.
  8. Check out Post #10 in this topic: [Classic Setup + Transparency, 32bit background image, your own colorprofile]

    nLite 1.0.1 Final

I would like to know if nLite slipstreams RyanVM's pack and other hotfixes into Windows XP or does it integrate them? Integrating then simply means it adds it to svcpack or similar to be executed during install. Slipstreaming: replacing existing files, saving space and install time. So I hope it slipstreams both RyanVM pack and hotfixes I add... second question: will it be possible (in the future) to integrate DirectX into WinXP? I am asking this because some games require the latest (June 2006) DirectX 9c, even if I have SP2. third stupid question: where does nLite put its regtweaks? I have checked 2 regtweaks... now want to edit that file... but I couldn't find any .reg file in my working folder.
  10. Thanks for all the info. I think I might use HFSLIP only to slipstream DirectX.. to start with. That's a long list of files! if I have time I will check out how much space that will cost... don't have that much free space left on my cd.. After looking more closely to that list: I don't think all those files are necessary to keep when using nLite after HFSLIP. Since I also see scrnsave.scr in the list. Perhaps I only have to keep the files betweeen ;dx9 stuff and ;wm codec stuff (the dx9 files) since I will not slipstream WMP or any hotfixes related to WMP. But still a lot of files to keep.. EDIT: nevermind, I have a SP2 cd... so DirectX 9.0c is included although it isn't the latest June version..
  11. I don't want to create a new topic for this q, so I post it here.. Is this the correct order: first HFSLIP to replace original files with hotfixes, then nLite to do whatever I want. And am I correct about this: nLite simply adds the hotfixes to svcpack, it doesn't REALLY slipstream them like it would do with SP1 or SO2. For this, we need HFSLIP. But, RyanVM updatepack can't be used to replace files, since it is a user-created pack.. so both HFSLIP and nLite simply add it to svcpack? Or am I not supposed to use ryanvm updatepack with HFSLIP? And HFSLIP works with any windows language/hotfix language. all this correct?

    nLite 1.0.1 Final

Hey Nuhi or anyone who knows: With Beta 6 I removed the IPSEC driver.. Now I am using 1.01 but I can't find the checkbox to remove IPSEC driver! Has this option been removed from nLite? Couldn't find anything about it in the Changelogs.
  13. Flash doesn't need an installer... depending on wich browser you use, if you use Mozilla (Firefox) or Opera, check my sig.
  14. Since a .cab add-on is an inefficient method for this task I cannot recommend it. Add the Media folder to 1 general 7z file and add the reg-entries to your existing regtweaks.reg. That's the fastest and most efficient method.
  15. all official Shockwave installers contains Yahoo! Toolbar. check my signature if you need a silent installer without Yahoo! Toolbar.
  16. Well, I always use a regtweak to get the desktop icon (and icontext) with a transparent background... I used regshot and this tool but it seems tile icons isn't done with a regtweak... I was just thinking about the method xpizesettings uses to do this trick... and using a hidden batchfile to run the command to to it at startup.. but.. once the desktop gets refreshed.. the xpizesettings has to tile them again (thats ofcourse what the Timed 5s option is for) so xpizesettings needs to run in the background and a command from a batchfile isn't enough. Edit: I read some more.. you wrote somewhere this is more like a memory hack. and I read about Deskview.. 36 kb, starts up very fast and also lists the icons.. strange thing is when the desktop refreshes the items are still listed! And it doesn't run on the background. Only once so this just has to be executed once after reboot (for every user). Very easy to add to my cd. Also it doesn't effect the transperency of my icons! (I don't understand why Xpizesettings does interfere with this since I set transperency with a regtweak.. only when I use Xpizesettings, it isnt tranceperent anymore unless I use the timed refresh). But I still like your xPizeSettings better! since it also shows the details of the items. Perhaps Deskview uses a less decent method or something..
  17. No use, it only works for the filename containing the name. Hmm... but that wouldnt be very efficient solution... and I rather just have 1 .dat file...Thanks Xpero, I'll wait.
  18. HOW-TO create your own NON-English Live Messenger Installer, patched. First download & install the Messenger of YOUR language (NON-English). Make sure it is the same version as Shark007's installer. Apply A-Patch, COPY the patched files (you'll recognize them because there are .BAK backup files of them.) Download Shark007's pack. Just follow his instructions: - extract his messlive.exe file to a Folder. - now PASTE the patched files to the correct location in this Folder (Folder\Program Files\MSN Messenger) For this SFX you don't need the file MSISTUB.exe so delete this file. --> Select all files and folders in Folder and create a 7z compact archive. Download CreateSFX.7z. and extract it to Folder. Modify config.txt to your needs*. Then run CreateInstaller.cmd. Your own MessLive.exe will be created ! (optional) modify the icon using Reshacker (do this before upx) (optional) then run CompressInstaller.cmd to UPX compress the 7z.sfx in your created installer (saves 50 KB or so..). *Open the config.txt file. It is set to: when the created installer is double-clicked, you'll see a small window with containing the text that I wrote under Beginprompt and a Yes and No button. When Yes is pressed, RunProgram will run. With the -gm2 -ai switch this installer will run completely silent (it will run the command under Autoinstall) without progressbar or any other window. This is identical to the Windows Live Messenger - AdFree version One-Click installer I created (Dutch). You can change the config.txt to make a completely silent (switchless) installer without the prompt: Remove the Beginprompt and AutoInstall completely and set Guimode to "2". change the command under Runprogram to /QN. That's all. You can modify or Delete Helptext.
  19. Windows Vista Soundscheme (updated) [ DOWNLOAD ] Updated: now contains 32 Vista sounds + fixed the .reg file. The .reg file renames the Default Soundscheme to "Windows Vista" & modifies it with the Vista sounds filenames. It will also set the Windows Vista soundscheme as the current & default one to be used. download the file, the Media folder belongs in the Windows directory. Add the .reg file to your general regtweaks.reg (runned @T12) file for uA install. Note: the hkey_current_user will be tweaked, this only works for all users when applied during T13. Possible errors: I still get the original XP sounds! SOLUTION: open your .theme file, remove the part containing the soundscheme. You'll find your .theme file in the $OEM$\$$\Resources because you placed it there. Make sure you do this for ALL themes you include on your CD. All sounds work but I don't have Startup/Shutdown sound. SOLUTION: this has nothing to do with the Vista Soundscheme/pack. You shouldn't remove Windows Beep with nLite.
  20. @Xpero I am sure you have a trick how to do this! I am suprised no one else would like to have tiled desktop icons in their uA Windows!
  21. This installer was designed using the ENGLISH version. I doubt it supports other languages since there is a different download available for each language.shark I have no idea if what i am about to suggest will work, but it is worth a try for non english users. 1st of all, the files MUST have the same filename as the files already in my installer. Next, replace ALL the files in the installer with your localized versions. Repack it, and try it.shark I always use the Dutch (NL) version of the Messenger. Sharks patchable installer works perfectly with it I ONLY replaced the files patched by A-PATCH! So I am pretty sure the only language-dependent file(s) is one of those. and with the 7z sfx I attached previously it works just fine. Thanks Shark007!
  22. it's not clear to me how to select the components... can subitems be removed from this line? (I select all components except A/V and WaveEditor) REG ADD %KEY%\009 /V 1 /D "%CDDRIVE%InstallApps\Nero-lite.exe /VERYSILENT /TASKS="imagefile_assoc" /COMPONENTS="nero_core, nero_core\nero_help,nero_core\nero_express,nero_core\nero_express\express_help, nero_core\nero_api,nero_core\nero_audioplugins,nero_core\nero_audioplugins\mausau, nero_core\nero_net,nero_core\nero_videocd,nero_core\nero_sounds,nero_coverdes,nero_coverdes\coverdes_help, nero_toolkit"" For example: can I remove "Nero_core" from this list since it is obvious it has to be installed? Also, nero_toolkit and nero_core\nero_help are not listed (anymore?) in your first post...
  23. Hi, sorry to create a new topic... there are soo many already.. I like XPizeSettings because I want my Desktop icons tiled with transparent background. The only way to do this is to open XPizeSettings, check the boxes you want, set it to start XPizeSettings at Windows Startup and then SAVE* the settings. The settings will be saved to the file XPizeSettings.WindowsAccountName.dat But I integrated XPize into my uA CD. I also put XPizeSettings.exe in my Windows\Resources folder. I want XPize to start with Windows & use the predefined settings. So I thought I simply rename the .dat file to XPizeSettings.dat and place it in the same folder Windows\Resources... But that doesn't work... because XPize really wants the file XPizeSettings.WindowsAccountName.dat. So how to do this?
  24. so many answers for the same question.. best way still is not using an install method at all.. only takes time and space.
  25. Actually, the Classic Setup can be enhanced quite nicely I did mine a year or more ago.. so the topic about it is quite OLD.. search for Classic Setup, transparancy, Hp38user (he discovered most of it). Don't have time to explain how it works, but the topic must still be somewhere. Classic Setup is really faster then the modern setup and it doesn't have to look Classic EDIT: Hp38user started on the Dutch forum at gathering.tweakers.net (Google keyword: Unattended Install Deel 3) so I searched that topic and found the link to MSFN: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&amp...st&p=212793 Check out that screenshot, you can apply higher resolution, true color background image, tranceparancy, and the colorstyles from your own Windows Theme Djeess... has it been that long already? used nLite since 2004... now the final is here..
