Dutch version (1.03) still working perfectly here just like previous versions
-
Oh OK thnx! then I certainly won't delete them
-
Great the Dutch pack is now 37 instead of 42 MB EDIT: no it is not 37 MB , it is 36.52 MB EDIT2: Why is NeroNET included? It is a pro app... seems useless for most home users. And on the Nero site it says it won't work with Nero 7. Ohh SORRY, NeroNET CLIENT is included, not the server, am I correct? still don't know what it means, I thought NeroNet is a server, and you can access it from any networked pc with granted access through the browser. but perhaps Client needs to be installed to do this? Oh well it is only .4 mb btw I am very curious.. sorry for asking so much questions: What are the 3 files in Common Files\DSfilter for? I just want to be sure Nero wont steel associations for some videofiletypes.

The idea of a clean install... not to put back a backup of your apps, but to reinstall them, cleeeean create an Unattended cd/dvd with windows + your apps. That would be your backup B) You could export the settings of the apps, if they have such a feature, or just check for Settings.ini in their folder. (winamp.ini for example, its Skins and Plugins folder).

RunOnceEx.cmd how to create fresh install window
ZileXa replied to kof94's topic in Application Installs
Oooh hold on guys. You simply add a runonceex2.cmd command at the final step of your runonceex? This way you are giving up installation time just because the list of apps doesn't fit in the RunOnceEx list? That's a shame! No thats a false conclusion from correct experiences. You need to understand why a reboot would be necessary for an install. Files might be in use, tasks have to be performed (an AV for example) etc. This cannot effect the installation of other software. Also, when RunOnceEx is running there are few other processes running. I (and many more people) can install over 100+ apps before rebooting. Why don't you group items together, for example I use 'system tools' for AV and lots of other things... I only have a small list, advantages during install: + readable for everyone + in just one-view you see how many items there are I must be honest, I have 2 RunOnceExs as well, but for a totally different reason. Check my CMDLines.txt: [COMMANDS] "RunOnceEx.cmd" "REGEDIT /S regtweaks.reg" "users.cmd" "CHKNTFS /T:0" "rundll32.exe iernonce.dll,RunOnceExProcess" This way, RunOnceEx will start at T12 (directly after cmdlines and its commands have finished). But there are 3 things I cannot let this RunOnceEx do, they have to be done after the 1st reboot: -Activate WinXP with an AutoIt script (not via internet ) -install WM10Lite - start WIHU at the end so installing user can create accounts etc. It is logical that these things HAVE to run after reboot, so I simply create a 2nd RunOnceEx for this. It is not meant for installing apps/adding regtweaks/cleaning up etc. This is how you start a second RunOnceEx, simply by adding the command to your first RunOnceEx: blablabla (Your 1st RunOnceEx) and as final you give the command to start 2nd RunOnceEx: (wich will be executed at the next reboot. For me, this means after the 1st boot) REG ADD %KEY%\040 /VE /D "tasks after restart" /f REG ADD %KEY%\040 /V 1 /D "%CDDRIVE%InstallApps\InstallSettings\RunOnceEx.cmd" /f Notice my 2nd RunOnceEx has the same name as my 1st, but it is located elsewhere. So my 2nd RunOnceEx actually gets executed at the moment most other people execute their RunOnceEx for installing apps etc. I really DO NOT recommend you use this just to split your long RunOnceEx in pieces, it means it will take a lot time to finish and it is just not a nice method. Grouping is the best. --> BTW, if grouping items still doesn't help you, you could use the Rundll32 command+RunOnceEx2 --> in 1 startsecondROE.cmd file, and let your first RunOnceEx execute this file at the end. After your 1st RunOnceEx has finished, a 2nd one should start immediately EDIT: it is in Dutch, but here is my (1st) RunOnceEx, you can see how I grouped items: EDIT2: Actually I still haven't been that honest. I also have a big 7zip file (it is called SYSTEMDRIVE.7z, check the RunOnceEx) wich contains many small apps like ExactAudioCopy, MediaPlayerClassic, Nvu (free websitebuilder) and lots of other software that don't need an installer but can be extracted to their location. Also contains settings.ini for apps, Winamp plugins etc. Since I now narrowed down the list of items to be installed, what is rest can be easily grouped in the RunOnceEx. -
Add it to your RunOnceEx instead. Don't use cmdlines.txt to install applications. I recommend you read the Unattended Guide over and over and over again, that's how you learn it the best! cmdlines.txt will add RunOnceEx info to the registry so RunOnceEx will be executed the 1st time Windows starts (it will NOT get executed right after cmdlines!) There is A LOT information about how to install Office silently..no need for again a new topic, and again read the Unattended Guide..

LOL hehe, I was just so amazed about the power of INF... thought it was waaay better then CMD... and now that I learned it fast I don't wanna go back to CMD... INF still has the advantage it will work on every version of Windows, no matter what language. For CMD, this becomes very difficult, I still didn't test Dje's final code in his 3/april post. Well before a new version of one of the programs in my Easy Installer pack is released I have to make up my mind I will post final result here and test Dje's code soon... actually have to start learning for my exams next week but this INF and CMD and also VBS.. it is quite interesting, well actually it is not but one can do lots of interesting things with it. AutoIt is also nice btw

Thanks for clearing that up! But then I prefer renaming the PDF file without a space, because not everyone uses Adobe Reader... thats like using a heavy truck to transport a pizza, instead of using a motorcycle Some people use Foxit Reader. Actually, I found there IS a Movefiles feature, and a Deletefolders feature not using advpack... see here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=10176&st=30 using Rundll32 commands

Dmiranda, Have you seen this? If that pack contains encoders as well, it is useless.. even if you want to encode videos to WMV (wich I can't imagine) you will need software wich will provide the encoders as well. Only REAL WMLite is made by Titou2k

I still have some doubts about Dr. Web. It scans files before burning. But if you have an AV running, it is impossible to have infected files on your disk (assuming your AV is good enough you don't need a 2nd one), so it is useless if Nero would scan the files for viruses, only slows down the pre-burning process.. Just a thought.

ow ok, well I did see the keys once here on MSFN... long time ago... I think searching for it would cost more time... regshot would be faster.. waiting for someone to post it would be the best ofcourse I did found the regkey to disable soundscheme: ;Disable Sound Scheme [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes] @=".None"

M2v plays here on MPC (without DSFP). the gabest splitter is build into MPC.

wow you've been busy! I was playing with INF, I now fully understand how to create Shortcuts this way and I like it But need some help on this... it annoys me: (btw, it creates shortcuts for All users Start Menu and 16422 = %programfiles%) [Version] Signature = $Windows NT$ [DefaultInstall] ProfileItems = easyGuide,dvdFab,dvd-Rb [easyGuide] Name = EasyGuide CmdLine = 16422,DVD-ReBuilder,"DVD-Rebuilder EasyGuide.pdf" SubDir= Copy DVD movies [dvdFab] Name = "[1] rip a DVD movie" CmdLine = 16422,"DVDFab Decrypter",DVDFabDecrypter.exe SubDir= Copy DVD movies InfoTip = "STEP 1: Copy a DVD-movie to your harddrive, removing(decrypt) the dvd-protection" [dvd-Rb] Name = "[2] rebuild a DVD movie" CmdLine = 16422,"DVD-ReBuilder",Rebuilder.exe SubDir= Copy DVD movies InfoTip = "STEP 2: Rebuild a DVD-movie to fit on a DVD-/+R" This works fine EXCEPT [easyGuide]! The shortcut IS created, but doesn't work because this is what the path looks like: "C:\Program Files\DVD-ReBuilder\DVD-Rebuilder" EasyGuide.pdfInstead of "C:\Program Files\DVD-ReBuilder\DVD-Rebuilder EasyGuide.pdf" I tried playing with the " but didn't do any good! How come? INF can't work with spaces in the commandfile? ofcourse renaming the PDF without the space would solve it, but I think it must be possible. EDIT: Ok have been messing around with my INF some more! Still don't have a solution for the problem described. Did found some new obstacles... jumped over all of them except these 2: - Is it correct with INF you cannot delete folders? only files - Also, there is no MoveFiles option, only CopyFiles! This means, if I want to move files (for example: from a tempdir to their destination) I have to write a CopyFiles and aDelFiles to delete them after copying :S Can't believe INF is that inefficient!

Apply NO soundscheme, search Google for Regshot, go to soundscheme control panel, select the soundscheme you want, Make shot 1 with Regshot, Apply the soundscheme, Make shot 2 Klick Compare And you will see the regkeys necessary. Do you have the Vista soundscheme? Perhaps you could share it www.savefile.com

thanks! btw, I register/install huffyuv & Xvid encoder during T12 with RunOnceEx, with the .INF file, it does require a different method to call the inf file. I am not home right now, will post later.

Adding Wireless WPA password during install?
ZileXa replied to Vingen's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
uhm, my wirelessnetwork, connects, asks for the code and voila... it works.. doesn't seem to be worth doing it unattended? -
I once had that problem with Nero6 after installing a new version over an old version of Nero. Uninstalling/restart/clean install fixed the problem. Why is NL version much bigger then other versions?

5in1: Wallpaper, Custom Theme + 3 Tweaks, All From Runonceex
ZileXa replied to Djé's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
This is interesting! Last year I created 2 new things for in the Control Panel (in the appropiate catagory, don't know the English name): - Logindialogs & Visual Extra's - XPize modify icons on Desktop The first allows you to change theme, wich will not only change theme but also the Loginscreen + shutdown/logoff Dialogs (it will change them to a style that fits the theme, only have a black style and a XPize blue style for the Dialogs). I created this using WIHU (gives you the option to choose) The second just starts XPize Settings. They are meant to be used by every pc user.. it is not for runonceex... and it is very basic... requires the dialog/loginscreenfiles to be in a 7z archive on the pc... but whoever is intested, I will put it on a site or something some day. -
hmmm... thanks Delprat, but still it will use the American US codepage, so fail for French version? I am little bit confused now because there is still the line CHCP 1252. Or does it check wich codepage is used on the system first? It works on my system (Dutch version). it seems using the .INF method would be lot easier...

pretty cool, I didn't know this was possible. Would this trick work on both WinXP as Win2000?
-
oo ok I wasn't sure about the /f, was the first thing I remembered I haven't worked on my uA project couple of months.. its finished I guess, just waiting for Nlite 1.0 to build a final one.. perhaps the TS has the numbers in different order.. then progB is started before progA, were A was first in the list and B came after.. I remember the annoying typos when quickly updating the RunOnceEx!

How to change background under RunOnceEx window
ZileXa replied to `Felix`'s topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
There is a very nice topic about transparent (!) windows (including RunOnceEx), nice background, high resolution and skinning during classic setup @ T12 and before/after. I am using it since I started with uA, looks very nice.
