  1. Like I said, Flash doesn't need to be installed, so don't waist time during your uA install with an installer for Flash, and don't waist space on your DVD/CD with the installer. The few files just need to be in your browsers plugin folder. Thats all.
  2. Removing Beep driver = no startup/shutdown sound... Whatever sound you enable in the SouncScheme in Control Panel..
  3. Never understood why the Integrator was created... everyone always did the same task just with Nlite.. I hope someone is not trying to create a Remover or something, an app only to remove parts from Windows. :S Why create apps that have one of the functionalities of Nlite? Too much free time?
  4. Yeah why multiple antivirus programs and multiple anti-spyware tools? For Antivirus I can't really recommend a free one, I don't like their graphical interface, it's not so clear and easy as for example Kaspersky Antivirus 5.0 (don't like their newest 6.0 either). Also for CDburning, the easiest and clearest program is Nero 7 Lite by far.. rather add astalavista.box.sk to my Firefox bookmarks then use a free not so good alternative. (I have 5 paid programs that don't have a comparable free alternative): Windows XP, Office 2003, Kaspersky AV, Nero 7 Lite PerfectDisk (Defrag app). Perhaps Office could be replaced for OpenOffice but most people I know don't see why to switch using Oo.
  5. Updated with newest Shockwave and Adobe Flash v9.0.16.0
  6. Savefile is having problems with server07, think will be solved in a month.
  7. haha yess I know, thats what I meant with my 2nd post... it was stupid I didn't even try without quotes before posting here! Thanks for the help.
  8. I just created a collection that allows you to: - Create an EXE file from your batchfiles - include ICON for the file - include other necessary files (DLL or stuff) The nice thing is: The output is smaller then QuickBatchfile.. perhaps it's even faster (I compress with 7z using FAST (since batchfile is only text, Ultra compression makes little difference) and after adding icon I UPX, checkout the HOWTO.txt BATCH2EXE http://www.savefile.com/projects.php?pid=423945
  9. If compiled with the freeware tool I have, no CMD window is shown. I don't know for sure about QBFC - I heard of it only recently, I haven't tested with it (but since its commercial, gotta be for a good reason ). Sorry for kicking such an OLD topic, I searched a lot but haven't found what I was looking for: I tried bat2com, bat2exec (also creates a COM file), quickbatchfilecompiler (shareware) and ExeScript (shareware but better). The first 2 both have the same thing: they DO show a black console window for a short time. With Quick Batchfile Compiler you can create an EXE that will run hidden.. but then the end file is 146KB.. that's like 73 times bigger then neccessary since bat2exec creates a file little over 2KB. ExeScript seems to to better: 8.50 KB AND allows the option to hide any window.. But I also know a file HIDE.EXE, it's only 1.60KB (!) and hides any batchfile that is run. My .cmd file is only 250 Bytes... So I was thinking to use the COPY /B option to merge those 2 together.. unfortunately that doesn't work, HIDE.EXE is started.. without any input. I was wondering if anyone knows other options, perhaps a different compiler or method. I added BAT2COM.com, BAT2EXEC.exe and HIDE.exe
  10. huh ok, I used "http://www.msfn.org", that didn't work!
  11. I'd like to know if it is possible to open a link from a batchfile, without calling the webbrowser.. So NOT like this: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" http://www.msfn.org Because then the batchfile would open IE. I want it to open the Default internetbrowser.. that could be IE, but could also be Firefox or Opera or whatever.. I'm not sure if it is possible though..
  12. Woooohooow exactly what I needed! I have exams till 4th of july so I have to hold back now... hehe with new nLite & this info I can make a nice new cd, thanks!
  13. perhaps the shortcut thing depends on the language of Windows.. cos they are really not created here. With the 7zS.sfx I use in the attached file of my previous post it creates the shortcut independently of the language... only set it to create the startmenu shortcut.
  14. Nobody knows how to create a custom Boot menu?
  15. Nooooooooooooooooooo I don't believe it! Final!? really wanna start using it, creating a new uA CD hehehe.. but have to hold back now cos of exams hehehe. Thanks Nuhi!
  16. Will this only mod the installer not to install items you don't want or will it also remove the items you don't want, shrinking the installer? If so.. it is very easy and nice! But I am lazy, I stick to Hp38user's Nero Lite.
  17. Thanks a lot! Just tested, seems to work fine just installing it normally. Doesn't create shortcuts though... you can use the newest modified 7zS.sfx to do this. I added the 7zS.sfx and config.txt (for the Create_New_Installer.7z files) if you want to use it. Also this 7zS.sfx doesn't need msistub.exe anymore. But maybe it is necessary when installed from svcpack and that might be the reason you included it check my new post for updated version.
  18. Don't know that, sorry. Guess you have to test. The script: 1. The script is started 2.** The script runs a winrar SFX that contains a 3. The script will perform the actions (clicks) needed 1 - Make sure you have the commandline version of AutoIt in your $OEM$ folder. I put this command at the end of my (2nd, cos the first runs at T12/13) RunOnceEx: REG ADD %KEY%\005 /VE /D "Activate Windows" /f REG ADD %KEY%\005 /V 1 /D "autoit3 "%CDDRIVE%\installApps\InstallSettings\activate-winXP.au3"" /f 2 - See the attachment below. Make sure to edit lines 9 and 12 to your own language. It's the title of the Activation Window, it says "Windows Activeren" wich is Dutch.. don't know how the English version of that window is called. Probably "Activate Windows". Ooh also line 1 to the correct path of the SFX file! 3 - I never experienced this didn't work.. at the end you'll see the message "Windows is already activated" and you are done. You might need to edit the pauses, its set to 6 seconds I think it's enough even for slow PC's. ** I have a license, but I never use the Phone/Internet activation options because this is waaay faster! Also I use my uA CD for lots of people (who have WinXP already, so they have a license). The script is pretty useless without the SFX containing the . activate_winXP.au3
  19. Your guide is exactly what HITMAN PRO does http://www.hitmanpro.nl/ Install, you can deselect the trial apps and Nod32 (cos I assume everyone already has an anti-virus program). And you can select to accept all License Agreements, making a full scan COMPLETELY without user input
  20. Flash Player (currently v8) doesn't need to be installed.. Just need the pluginfiles to be in your webbrowsers Plugins directory. check my signature. No installer for Flash needed. But I don't know about beta.
  21. I don't use custom made installers either unless a setup can't be launched silently. I also have the patched files in an archive 7z file (together with a lot more). But this switchless installer is very nice. I don't use it for my uA, the 7z file is easier to update with the new patched files, but this installer is easy to send my own patched Messenger to friends and family It's called MSNMessenger.. but I am sure you mean Windows Live Messenger BTW, is this the same as Shark007's switchless installer that allows you to replace the files with the A-Patched files? EDIT: nope it isn't.. I don't know why you created this? It's identical to official installer with /qn or /qb. It is June 24
  22. about legal issues: if all the computers have a WinXP license, it's OK. The whole activation/key thing is to make sure people have their own license. So I just use a AutoIt script to activate (runs the activate-by-phone & then a crack, then runs activation again: says: already activated, and closes the window. Done) Ofcourse I only use my CD on people's computer wich has a WinXP license btw, if you have a WinXP license, you can even call Microsoft to get your key working for WinXP 64
  23. hmm I thought difference between WMP10 & 11 was just a different GUI/skin.. will try WM11Lite on my new install.
  24. I have been checking out a few backup tools, like Ghost and True Image. I used to work with Ghost 8.0... its the last good version because the other versions... well the bootcd part sucks a little bit.. Acronis True Image seems very nice. After installing, you start Media Builder and you can create a BootCD with the true image software (allowing you to create a backup, restore harddisk from a backup, create a hidden partition for a backup file, create incremental backups) for CD, USB disk, and FLOPPY! I was very pleased to see these options! 1. So I created the bootCD, made an ISO image file, because I wanted to add that image file to my unAttended cd: After installing everything/creating user accounts/restart, most people configure a few things like email and stuf... then, they might want to create a Backup! So I wanted to create a nice AUTORUN menu for my uA CD, containing a button that says "Create BootCD to make or restore a Backup of your PC". When clicked, the ISO image simply opens in Nero and the user can burn immediately, restart PC, pc will boot from the CD and voila, True Image is started and the user can create a backup easily (on the network or a CD/DVD or a USB device or whatever). 2. PROBLEM: Unfortunately, the ISO file of a True Image BootCD is 30MB!! Waaay to large for my uACD, I only have few space left.. I couldn't believe it! If I would create the BootFLOPPY set it would cost me 20 floppies?? So I was going to test... but I didn't want to go through the hell of inserting that much floppies one by one! So I did this: I created a virtual floppy B:, loading a 1.4 MB floppy Image and started Acronis MediaBuilder, selected drive B: to create a BootFloppy Set. But I wasn't going to use any real floppy Once MediaBuilder checked the size of B:\, and asked to proceed creating the floppies... I minimized Media Builder, inserted a USB stick and performed the command (in cmd) "subst B: G:\", means the usbstick G: will be used for the virtual floppy B:\. The nice thing is, B:\ is as large as my USB stick 256 MB Then proceeded Media Builder, it copied everything to the B: (wich is in fact the USB stick). It only took 10,6 MB! So I created a Floppy image of B:, AcronisBootFloppy.IMA with WinImage, then extracted all files from the image to a folder, and extracted the bootsector to a .BIN file. Now I created an CD ISO image with ImageGUI, selecting the folder as source and the BIN file as bootsector. I burned the ISO, only 11 MB... restarted my PC and.... it gave an error, something about Non-System disk, press a key --> I pressed a key and True Image is being loaded! Everything worked, creating a backup to USB device/other partition/CD or DVD! So I could ofcourse use this ISO for the "Create BootCD to make or restore a Backup of your PC" option, given by my uA CD's AUTORUN... But I was thinking about something nicer: modifying the Windows Boot part of the uA XP CD.. so that when inserted this will appear: Anyone a clue how to modify the windows Boot files to get this? There would still be a problem... when option 2 is selected.. I am not sure what command should be performed since True Image bootCD/Bootfloppy doesn't contain a .exe, does have a .cfg (can view in Notepad) and .sys (get strange things in Notepad) and the .cfg seems to contain the commands...
