  1. If Nero finds out what you did maybe they are smart and hire you to create Nero Lite or something B)
  2. ooh.. that's a very good point. I actually never installed Nero the normal way, I thought Scout and dxfilters could be deselected.. hmm... yeah you are right, when an update comes, have to do it all over again. But that also counts for your future Installer, right?
  3. U mean Symantec AI Snapshot which comes with Norton Ghost? I've used it but it seems to add a fair few extraneous bits of crap IMHO... its a full system compare before and after and inevitably only works well on a total plain virgin system with no AntiVirus, background tasks or anything else running.... Hmm I found a better InstallMonitor: http://ashampoo-root01.com/mailings/220206_en.htm I will try with clean install on VirtualPC this weekend.
  4. In the Lite pack, could you at least put CoverDesigner in it? and I hope you removed the unnessecary DSfilters, it saves at least 10 MB (uncompressed).
  5. I disagree, if the original installer can be installed silently AND is small in filesize, and you don't have to remove parts of it (like Nero), always use the original installer! Can anyone explain WHY they would use a 7z installer someone made, while the Paint.Net setup is SMALLER and can be installed silently just perfect? Don't get me wrong, I use .Net 7z installers from Ryan... because the original installer doesn't match the points I mentioned above.
  6. Can't we use some InstallMonitor (I believe Norton Systemworks has this) that reads all changes during Nero install? after install the Monitor shows the new (and replaced files) files. All we have to do is put them in an SFX (rar or 7z). The InstallMonitor also shows all registry adds and changes, all we have to do is export them to reg files, combine to one .reg file and done! extract the 7z and run the .reg file! I am not trying it for myself rightnow because it seems such a simple solution, there must be a reason why no one has tried it yet!
  7. you mean DEcompressing or even better: extracting it is just like Uharc then... also a little better compression then 7zip, but very slow to extract.
  8. thanks, but I don't need that, I don't see the benefits: your file is bigger then original installer, if I want to update I just download the new installer and place in it my folder containing all the softwareinstallers, so using the method with the original installer and the switch is better. so why use your 7z installer? that makes me depending on you, if you are willing to keep making the 7z installers... and where I can find them... 7z switchless installers are useful if original installer is larger.. and installing silently is more complex.. I just created the topic to now if there was a way to compress the MSI itself, modifying the file, ending up with a smaller msi.. because that is what the developers must have done with .net 2.5 but never mind, it is absolutely not important.
  9. Here is how to install it silently: PaintDotNet_2_6.exe /auto CHECKFORUPDATES=1 CHECKFORBETAS=0 JPGPNGBMPEDITOR=0 TGAEDITOR=0 xcopy "PaintDotNet.Strings.nl.*" "%programfiles%\Paint.NET\PaintDotNet.Strings.nl.*" /A the installer is only 3 MB. But with previous versions, it was a 3,5 MB MSI file! Now if you start the Paint.Net 2.6 installer and check Docs & Settings\Useraccount\Local Settings\Temp folder and get the extracted MSI from there, the MSI is 6 MB... I rather have a MSI file because now we have to use a batch file to install it! but how do I get this 6MB msi down to 3 MB?
  10. Why don't you just wait for Hp38user installer? because now you can't shrink it... to me it is useless... but perhaps you guys use dvd?
  11. Waauw that is incredible! btw will it also be possible to deselect Nero dsfilters? I hate them and they are not needed (only if you use NeroMediaplayer).
  12. Hp38User you say you are working on an installer for Nero? I won't edit the MSI since I read nothing but trouble in the Nero v7054 thread..
  13. Same thing also possible with (light) WIHU.. (you can also create subselections etc.... things get autoselected if you select something depending on it etc..)
  14. How come I read averywhere you MUST use the FULL SP2? I succesfully slipstreamed my Dutch Office2003 pro with SP2 CLIENT. shrinked/installed/worked perfectly.
  15. If you would have TRIED to search... you would know there is a topic with a great Winamp MSI. You can select the things you want/don't want and install it silent.
  16. Yeah thanks I found his topic just a few minutes after I created this topic.. btw his name IS mentioned in other topics, reason I still couldn't find him is that people misspelled his name badley... Nakai or Nanai.. I just found out he's got some more nice tools
  17. WOW this IS fantastic! I will try it with my next uA disc.
  18. Hey there.. I've been using the search function for an hour but can't find that topic. Office 2003 wont install if you try it at T12 (it will rollback). But someone created a little workaround for this (it is actually an AutoIt exe file). it works very easy: just let that .exe file start Office setup and it won't rollback.. Does anyone know where that topic is??? I need the Dutch version of that file and it was available in that topic! I can't find it anywhere... I used it in august last year, now I am creating a new Office with SP2 and I need it again. Sorry for creating a new topic... but actually I don't think anyone cares because it is truly a mess here.. certainly if you know there are 11 pages of links to Office topics.... (do a search )
  19. I Just slipstreamed SP2 into Office 2003 Pro using the CLIENT version! No problems at ALL!
  20. @BuckeyXP See post #438: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=16709&st=437# Unfortunately for Dutch users, after more than half a year this bug in Office Shrinker has not been fixed. I am creating an new shrinked version because Excel always gave me errors when starting (is was missing VBA support) and I wanted SP2. That's how I found out. edit: sorry for the double post, didn't realized I already posted something earlier..
  21. You don't need Word? just select the items and read what it is about... and think if you need it or not.. things like Binder, Query, Image Manager, Web Components etc... you can remove a lot. But you might want to select extra lettertypes. Btw why Frontpage? I don't understand why people still use that... you never know if your site will be compatible with webbrowsers.. I recommend Nvu (www.nvu.com) it is free btw.
  22. Hey hp38user, I was waiting for 7.0.1.5 NL before posting exactly the same (NL version) What do you mean with "complete help"? As far as I know Nero doesn't really include any Helpfiles, all helpfiles only contain a link to their support site. So I remove those useless files. About the Directshow filters, check the Directshow FilterPack. (I hope by asking this you mean you removed the DSFilters and everything belonging to it. If so I wont have to make a package myself ) EDIT: So now Nero 7.0.5.4 has come... Hp38user are you already editing the MSI of this version? if not I will
  23. Yes I know I used a batch file to unreg the .ax files when I was using Nero 6
  24. Oh thanks for the big reply! Ok I am using the Directshow pack Actually it is soo easy this pack, it is no problem it has some filters for rare filetypes, people can easily delete the folders corresponding to the filter they don't need! The batch file will give error but not fail I think. Otherwise you could modify it by adding "IF EXIST" [foldername] THEN ... (register those filters). And you are right it is ofcourse not MPCpack!. MPC can handle mkv + subs well so I don't use vobsub. so perhaps it is not really neccessary to bring out 2 packs... I don't know it is your choice I like Flac, use it to backup CDs (burned cds become unplayable after few years). So I personally keep that one in. I think I will therefore always download the 'full' pack and remove the folders/filters I don't want. I will try to find out if there is a way to enable some media formats in ffdshow silently... perhaps some ini file or regsetting. I will post the result! BTW perhaps an idea to include FFDshow in your pack? Official ffdshow updates: http://ffdshow.sourceforge.net > Daily Builds (sounds like alpha/beta but it lists all ffdshow releases, not just alpha/beta). EDIT: For people who install NERO after ffdshow/DS Filterpack, Nero's own DSfilters are registered to handle some videofiles... that's a bad thing, the quality is less, you can't modify anything and it wont play everything correctly. So Install ffdshow/ds filterpack AFTER Nero! Or even better, edit the Nero installer so that DSFilters (it is located in the folder Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilters and it is ~10MB) is not installed
