  1. r u sure its nlite? causing this? did u have a pirated copy of xp before hand? this could have anything attached to it EDIT: if you get a program, always get it from the ORIGINAL website of the program.. dont download off of 3rd party sites EVER.
  2. did u maybe put those folders incorrectly in your $OEM$ folder? (if u had made an unattended install that is) can u post a picture of the directory contents ?
  3. sounds like u didnt make the cd a bootable cd , google it
  4. if u really wanted to force a reboot i would do it after the 1st logon.. but i dont see the point
  5. i dont think setup would function right, it'd just loop
  6. if this is true, i could see them implementing this.. but it'd be VERY counter productive to a computers security i bet.. once a hacker has found the flaw (which is basically labeled with a bullseye on it) everyone would be in your pc faster than you can shake a stick
  7. whats it not doing? can u not get driver support for it?
  8. maybe add software updates & news about software & make ita more colorful background? i use betanews.com when i wanna look @ new stuff tho, i just like the layout of the site or if your not wanting to delv into that, u can personalize the site about yourself, friends & family? if you have any family functions going on or friends weddings or something maybe make mention of that?
  9. i think to edit boot screen u need to modify ntoskrnl.exe
  10. when does it occur? during setup ? if so verify that the file is on the cd? or during bootup?
  11. i dont see the point of the second feature.. normally a "new" user wouldnt choose to slim down their xp without atleast some basic knowledge of their OS.. how hard is it to copy your xp source to a different folder? (most of us do this anyways, to my knowledge) i have various setups going & always have my source in another folder anyways, the only person who can decide this is nuhi.. im sure if he wants or wanted it in nlite he will/would put it there
  12. do u have the runtime files for nlite? see here: http://www.nliteos.com/download.html not sure if it will help or not, but worth a shot, anyways post back & let me know

  14. that file is a cab file which is still cabbed for me.. nhelper.ex_ is a 40kb file bfe4798b7c882ad11d9a0bc8173e2d05 is the hash of that file.. also try redownloading your nlite program?

    Office 2007

im getting an error: "setup requires a newer version of windows" im using xp sp3 not sure whats causing this, ive looked on MSKB & they say the problem is from not using SP2+ for xp.. but like i said im using XP SP3 (which its shown up as in windows) is there anythng required for it to run properly? im very cautious about removing stuff with nlite, so im really not sure about this i slim my source down alot, office 2003 works fine
  17. download resource hacker & replace the AVI's for those 3 files (not sure of the exact avi number, but u can tell by the image preview)

    pc freezes

in order for us to help you, u have to help yourself u need to list your specs, u also need to give more detail, it could be anything from a registry entry , to a currupt file or even your computers hardware what are u doing when this happens? have u tried anything?
  19. could it be your shell32.dll file? (not sure if its the same for vista, i dont use it) have either of u tried to mod it? maybe try running modifype on it to make windows think its the original file that file is resposible for alot of windows actions maybe try explorer.exe also?
  20. removed? they wont be removed but they shouldnt get installed when u install your windows from a fresh install if u really dont want them there use nlite to slim your xp source down (thats what i use, i dont bother with components section @ all) anyways best of luck & reply back
  21. hey what your wanting to do i believe would go against the EULA if hes got a disc for xp your saying it doesnt give u the option to input your own cdkey? if thats the case its probly an unattended install or partially unattended the only way to get around that would be to remake the cd if your computer has a cd key on it & your trying to input that & its not accepting it then u can maybe try contacting dell , the only thing hardcoded on your cd as far as stuff like that is concerned is whether the product key is for that version of windows when your entering the key, setup doesnt know whether its legit or not, it stores all the keys in a file or binary & just aslong as it matches 1 of those setup will continue. thats where the windows genuine thing comes into play with service packs & downloads from microsoft sites, u will download a small file that checks whether your cd key is "legit" or "pirated" anyways i hope what i said makes some sense to u
  22. I couldnt have put that any better if i tried to the OP: what would be the point of this?
  23. id assume this would be safe, its just registry entries, if it doesnt work undo it, test on a virtual machine 1st this is safe, ive used it in the past, worked fine for me when i used it BUT!!!!! why use IE? so much more flexibility with other browsers , safer aswell
