PXE-E32: TFTP Open Timeout - Only On Certian Clients?
FthrJACK replied to bjblackmore's topic in Unattended RIS Installation
ok i know this is an ooold post, but i found it when googling the same TFTP boot error. Ive been experiencing the exact same problem, and restarting TFTP on the RIS server did the trick. So figured id tack that on there incase anyone else is having the same issue and found this thread via google It could however be caused by the NIC as pointed out above. -
Deploy a Windows XP image from WDS Unattended
FthrJACK replied to woodsman707's topic in Unattended RIS Installation
i just started playing with WDS today since im considering sending the servers at work off to the retirement home and upgrading to 2008. how do you get RIS images to work with WDS chiners? from what ive seen WDS only looks for *.wim images, and while playing around with it i thought the same thing as was mentioned earlier in this thread.. HALs are going to cause a headache. My network has about half of it on Fujitsu desktops, and then the other half is a mix of older Fujitsu Atx machines, and custom built grey boxes with allsorts of bloody hardware in them (legacy from previous employee) what i read in the WDS help docs was basically a how-to for making snapshots/riprep images of machines, which wont work for my client machines since they are all blumin different... i need a universal image (or one slim one for the fujitsus and a fatter one for the rest) howd i import an exisiting RIS image to WDS then? -
Im trying to put together a list of PXE enabled NIC cards. Since finding them online can be a hit and miss affair, sometimes cards say they are PXE enabled when infact they arent, but do support it if you shove a chip in the card (and finding that can also be a headache!) Ive oft wondered why theres no site out there on the net, that ive found anyway, with a good list of PXE Nics - so why not msfn! What card do you use? and where did you get it if purchased online? (not just the chipset, those letters on the card name do mean something!) See if we get a decent list together ill edit this post and see if we can pin it for ref. Thanks... is APM enabled in your Bios?

Possibly caused by something like windows defender or spybot S&D locking the homepage using Group policy. Either do as crtl-x suggested or check your anti spyware software settings.

As mentioned, some programs will turn the system volume up and down instead of their own volume control. I think WinDVD is one such program that does this. And, without wanting to be patronising... you dont have a media keyboard do you or a set of headphones with a volume control on? .... easy to knock mute or the volume sometimes without realising. Then again it could be your driver crashing as mentioned. Try a seperate sound card.. a 5.1 or 7.1 card can be picked up for very little money.

Probably the system driver for the virtual CD/DVD.... at a guess. Try an older version of 120% and see?

Happy Birthday chris so hows the AARP membership anyway?

Contact the police vomit, and make sure they dont do anything to your credit record also, if they do go to citizens advice. and as for any EULA they quote, a EULa isnt law, so they can go jump. Also you dont just go demanding money from people and making threats, thats extortion.

Rehabs and Torture in the US and Abroad - WWASP: Stinging Teens
FthrJACK replied to atomizer's topic in General Discussion
Where else, and who else. Lets not forget the mormon cult (no its not a religion) is also responsible for the kidnapp torture rape molestation and deaths of many other individuals, often minors, in many other of its schemes and day to day happenings. As if they arent crazy enough, theres also the "extremist" mormons... the church of the latter day saints, who activley encourage and indoctrinate its members into the sexual and mental abuse of minors. Even kidnapping young children and seperating them from their families from an early age so they can instill their "values" into these children. They are no less wicked or evil than those cutting innocents heads off and blowing up planes from the arab world. -
well, i guess thats a failed experiment then! i know another board that did the same thing and had hundereds of people join in together. not a one from msfn... oh well

Hi, Im posting this here, rather than the games section, because it should get more attention here, and its not just about a game, but the MSFN community. For those that dont know me, im Tris one of the 3 origional founders of MSFN. I dont run anything around here anymore but i still pop in now and again, mainly when im at work looking for something more interesting to do other than work! I play a game called EVE Online, its an MMO game set in space with an enormous player driven environment, market, PVP, Trade, PVE, Missions, Manufacturing/industry, you name it theres heaps to do, ill leave the EVE site to explain all that. I run a corporation in EVE, its just over 3 Years old. We are pretty selective on who we recruit into our corp, and are a pretty tight nit community. But for a while now ive been thinking, and wondering why i never thought of this way before... why not combine two things i think are awesome? (natch!) EVE and MSFN! EVEs a game with a lot of Depth. Its not like WoW or something where you can learn all about it and reach max level in 2 weeks. infact EVE has no max level and no end to the game. I think the game would suit a lot of the members of MSFN because of their natural instinct for learning and exploring. So heres the idea, im offering anyone who wants one a free 14 day trial acount for EVE online, see how many MSFNers we can get in game playing together in a corp, as well as posting here, sort of like a member meet up but without having to spend a dime or get jet lag! I already made an MSFN chat room a while back, so people can talk, even if you already play EVE. Just join channel msfn.org in the game. So, if you want to try EVE for free for 14days, give me a PM with your email you want your trial acount sent to (no EVE dont keep or sell your email, so they wont mail you again) and ill send you an acount. You dont need a credit card to play, just download the Client and send me a PM and/or reply here on the forums.

Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 120GB
FthrJACK replied to Jay_Stealth's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Well its the EXACT same chip on both drives that burst into flames. The one at the top of jays piccy, the small square chip, it has a wart like mark on it... Exact same thing that mine did, chip got hot, ruptured a little "volcano" on it like in jays photo then set fire.. quite litteraly flames and the whole bit, to the board around it. The fire was so hot it desoldered much of the circuits around it. -
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 120GB
FthrJACK replied to Jay_Stealth's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
It is not his cooling. Jay is my brother 1 month before that happened to him, i got home one day to be told my PC had almost set fire to the house. When i went to see why i found my Maxtor DiamonMAX V9 240GB had burst into flames on its own. EXACT same chip as what happened to jay. We bought our drives at different times, from different stores. his was even a newer version (v10) to mine and a different size. i bought mine onlione from a store in surrey and i think jay got his from some other online site. We BOTH then get the same thing happen. luckily only my HDD was killed -- though it was part of a 1TB raid array that is now rendered useless until i swap a control card onto the dead drive.. back its content onto a new drive.. and then put the good control card back on the drive i took it from. i will NEVER buy another Maxtor drive after this. ive never known a PC to burst into FLAMES spontaneously like this unless hit by lightening or something. -
well.. one of the simplest ways, and the way i use at work, is to not use the web address at all, but use the websites IP instead. this will bypass websense most of the time. Dont blame me if you get caught though

built in, not created any other logins as yet. UAP settings seems to have no effect. its not all program installs, just some. Of note is that despite the errors on reboot the applications work fine, nero threw up so many errors i got sick of clicking the mouse on [ OK ] but it works fine,.. One thing of note is the update service in photoshop would not start .. as it must have been missing some dll it needed or some part of the service wasnt running. However, after a few days it now seems to have corrected itself and runs -- not that the update service prevents you from running photoshop. i wondered if perhaps the permissions errors where being thrown up regardless, and that the reg entries and dll registrations where actually taking place though vista is reporting otherwise... possibility anyway. Next time i install something that does this ill check the registry before and after to see if thats the case!

nah doesent work gunsmoke.. already toyed with that so far i have got to work: Battlefield 2 Prince of persia sands of time **** NFO Viewer MSN Messenger 7.5 beta Teamspeak FlashFXP Winrar 3.5 Emule NEro Burning ROM 7 - though there was errors on install, after reboot it worked fine. lot of errors on install tho! DVDSanta Video LAN player BSplayer Azureus Bit torrent client Java Quicktime Adobe Photoshop CS2 (PS9) (image ready disables glass effects if you run it, though it works fine. Also update service will not run but doesent stop you using the suite obviously) Creative Control Panel Plus a few other bits and bobs not really worth listing. I also know from a source that Pirates Of the Burning Sea MMO runs on Vista also, and i expect Steam works fine too if POBS works.

Thanks! but no thats not it, i got it to work. The problem is that when the toolbar is enabled, IE7's classic menu shows in the toolbar.. you know the file edit view options... cant get them to hide and its annoying. in IE's window setting classic menus are enabled, but the option is also greyed out as well as being ticked so i cant turn them off. oh well... all the fun of a beta Stumbleupon is probably the best little tool i have ever found for surfing the internet, give it a go! Once you set your preferences in it.. you can find some pretty interesting sites you otherwise wouldnt have found.. never run out of sites to visit!

doh.. sorry, got it to work. didnt realise there was two parts to enable until i looked at my own screenshot! ok so now its working, but theres "file Edit View favorites tools help" showing above the toolbar, under "window" in IE option Classic menu is ticked and enabled but is greyed out so i cant turn it off. anyone got a reg key?
-
#dont know if anyone else here uses Stumbleupon but i recommend it.. sweet little tool. However it wont work under IE7, says its enabled.. but the "Toolbars" option under "window" is greyed out. Wonder if theres a reg hack.. or something? i cant get it to work anyways.
