  1. Have you tried right clicking the start button?
  2. A favourite of mine. Rather apt for Microsoft's strategy with Win 10
  3. Quite true. Man my blood boils whenever some shill pukes out something like 'If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear' in the best gestapo tradition. Herr Flick of the Gestapo from the BBC comedy "Allo Allo"?
  4. It's the freebie version. When you go to their website, there are 2 options, 32bit and 64 bit. The release (up to date ATM) is . The firewall that comes with XP sp2 only controls incoming data IIRC No wallets were dented or pennies spent securing my machine 73 de Tony
  5. Here's a few vids that should help In my case I have Comodo Firewall (Blocks outgoing as well as incoming) CCleaner Malwarebytes Anti malware Spybot Search and Destroy Avast Unofficial SP4 which has POS Ready 2009 so is being updated PaleMoon with Noscript
  6. My farewell to one of the greatest bassists to walk this planet. RIP Jack Bruce
  7. Dencorso is absolutely correct. That update just puts up a nag popup. File that update under "B" for "Bin"
  8. http://www.eham.net/ehamforum/smf/index.php/topic,98924.0.html My favourite Win8 shill posted this on Eham on September 16th. The comments on his link spoke volumes to me
  9. Together with an "Agincourt Salute" TELVM.
  10. I never had that problem with Win98se. I know Microsoft said that you do not need a "config.sys" or "autoexec.bat" but I found that getting the DOS sorted, the windows looked after itself.
  11. Of course cleaning the internals is a must but something I have heard recently is if you are using the mains to power the lappie is to remove the battery. I hope some of the more expert on this site can confirm or deny this
  12. Had a play. Went to GMT+6 . Found forum time 4 hours ahead 2 more goes, time is right now Thanks :thumbup Tony
  13. 6 hours behind. Good idea Tripredacus, I'll give it a go
  14. The last few weeks, the forum clock is showing wrong time. The time (for me) is 0108 on 2nd July but the forum is showing 7.08 pm (1908) on the 1st July. Ive checked my time zone settings and they are correct (London, Dublin, Lisbon) What's gone wrong? Thanks in advance de Tony (G8YMW)
  15. A couple of threads on an amateur radio forum I frequent http://www.eham.net/ehamforum/smf/index.php/topic,97169.0.html http://www.eham.net/ehamforum/smf/index.php/topic,96895.0.html Anyone for a game of "Spot the Fanboi"? I also hope Charlottte's OK, I always have a chuckle at some of his comments.
  16. Thanks Larryb, I've never been able to put something to G8YMW before. Actually it's my Amateur Radio callsign as issued by the UK government after I sat the exam in 1980 Cheers de Tony
  17. Larryb, LostInSpace, this is brilliant. They've kept faithful to the original and Tarja (I think it's her) has done an excellent job on tonsils
  18. Likewise, even though this machine has Win7 and Kubuntu as well (Not very good with the "Penguin Waddle)
  19. The current thinking is that the Moon is actually the remnants of a planet that collided with Earth. The Moon does not have a core, that is in The Earth merging with Earth's core. The Moon just being the rocky left overs of the collision Well, that's the theory HOWEVER Saturn may have another moon forming in it's ring system
  20. When I was running 98se, certainly for the last 2 years I never had any problems. Contrary to what Microsoft say, I found that if you put some effort into getting the DOS right, the Windows looks after itself. Unfortunately I changed the motherboard but the thing that was causing the trouble was one of the optical drives. Oh well! The mobo was a Gigabyte GA7zx with an 800 MHz Duron processor (Thank you MDGx for the tips on your site)
  21. TELVM You need to pack in with that spoiler!!! My wife and I cannot stop laughing :D I dont think I will be able to walk past the chemist's shop and keep a straight face anymore
  22. I would say "belt" The planets are all on a plane and orbiting in the same direction (Unless someone knows different)
  23. My machine has XP, Win7 and Kubuntu (multiboot) My prime OS is XP , runs a treat, Every time I use Malwarebytes, hardly ever finds anything. Win7 I found was mucking Firefox up (Hence me reverting to XP) kept loosing the bookmarks and wouldn't load up except in Firefox "Safe mode" and wouldn't retain my settings. Malwarebytes found 1277 issues. I cleaned them out. I also disabled all add-ons on Internet Explorer. Now 7 seems to be running better. So which is the insecure O/S
