  1. I got one for ya, this is totally true. One of my co-workers got a call a couple of months ago, an end user was needing their password reset. So my co-worker said, "I'll reset your password to 123456." With that the end user replies, "Is that a capital 1 or lowercase 1." I'm not lieing one bit on this one!
  2. The easiest is to write up a script to uninstall the old ver. silently and then install the new.
  3. I tried using this on some of the systems that have autologon setup and it doesn't want to seem to work with that script. Any thoughts? Is there a way that no matter who logs onto a certain device that it will autohide the taskbar. Kind of autohide on all accounts sort of thing?
  4. Hey guys I found what I was needing. It was a registry edit that made me able to do what I was needing to do. BTW here's the registry edit in case someone else needs this. HKCC\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\
  5. Hey iceman did you download a 3rd party software and activate it in cmd or did you write it from the ground up?
  6. The oldest monitor we are using are 3 year old LCD, the reason I'm asking is some people are running 800x600 and some are running at 1024 x 768, and rather than going to every PC in the hospital I'd rather just have a script do it for me.
  7. I'm with ya Aaron, I was disappointed when I seen Yahoo wasn't on there. Oh well I use AIM just as much so I guess everything will be fine.
  8. I am needing a script or a batch file that will force a screen resolution to load at 1024x768. The reason I'm asking for this is we are getting ready to push out a new app. for work and the minimal recomendation requires the resolution set to 1024x768. I was going to use the script as a boot up script and push it across the network so all users will have the same screen size and there won't be any issues. Any ideas? Thanks!
  9. Thanks cogumel0. I'll try that.
  10. The reason I'm asking this question is, I work in a hospital, and as you all know patient info. is VERY confidential, we have a VPN setup with a doctor's office across down, and are saving some of the info. in these folders and sending them across the VPN, the folders inside the share are named by the patient name, and once you open the folder there's all the patients documents. The reason we are wanting a password on each folder is so the doctors will be able to access this info. on designated devices throughout the hospital and not just anybody can walk up and open a folder and read the info. inside. Does that make any sense?
  11. I'm looking for either a batch script or a VB script that'll run at startup to hide the taskbars on all machines, we are running XP in the entire house. I've done some research but haven't found what I'm needing, any ideas? Thanks!
  12. I've been looking into getting my own site, just haven't had time yet. I design websites for people but just don't seem to have time for my own yet. LOL! Thanks for the suggestion though, and thanks for stopping by.
  13. Thanks rendrag, but that still doesn't do what I need it to do. I'll keep searching and if anyone else has any possible solutions I'd appreciate it.
  14. The best way I find is type the app in command prompt, then afterward type /?, most of the time it'll show you the switches. Example: test.exe /?
  15. Ya I've looked into it. The only thing is, I have the share folder reading off the user's ID, then once in the share they have full access to all the folders, I'd like to set it up, that once in the share, they have to have a password to open the folders inside the share. Any ideas?
  16. Hey gang, I have a question. My supervisor is wanting me to find an app. that will prompt users for a password when they access certain network shared folders. The folders are shared out on the network at the server, and will be accessed at the workstations. The servers are running Server 2003 and the workstations are running Windows XP Pro. Any ideas on what will help work? I've tested a couple of apps. and no luck. Any help would be apprecaited. Thanks!
  17. I know Windos 98 can be loaded from floppy, the reason I know this is because we ran across an entire set of Windows 98 install floppys at work last spring, when we were doing some cleaning, unfortunately we threw them all away because we figured we didn't need them any longer.
  18. How legit is this site, has anybody ordered from there? If that's the truth I may look into purchasing it, since I may need it for my college classes.
  19. When remotly connecting to servers, workstations, etc. we use Dameware. It's a remote control software that works just like you were sitting in front of it. If you have ever used Logmein it works JUST like that only better.
  20. I'll try that and see if it works. Thanks rendrag.
  21. Man I hate to hear that. If you keep having problems with them call the Better Business Bureau. They'll get you taken care of as quick as possible.
  22. I use DTweak and XTweak by Daoisoft and have had GREAT success.
  23. It sounds like an incompatibility between XP and Vista RDP. Just out of curiousity what ver. of IE are you running on your XP machine? If your running IE 6, I've found that if you update to 7 it takes some of the incompatibility issues away.
  24. Hmm, I don't think so. If you did it would more than likely come back as a duplicate IP error. There may be a work around for this but if there is I don't know of it.
  25. I chose the classic, nothin wrong with the oldies.
