  1. My boss received a message through outlook the other day and then noticed the sender deleted the first message somehow in her inbox and resent a new one. She is now wanting to know how you can delete a message after it's been sent, if it is possible, which obviously it is. The send was a user inside our internal network and the message was going through our Exchange server.
  2. I'm not a big fan or Norton, was back when 98 first came out, but over the years it's gone down hill. That's why I turn to free alternatives, once you uninstall you don't have to uninstall again.
  3. Update: I found the fix guys, it was an old installation of Norton Anti-virus causing the problem. I found the fix here. http://www.duxcw.com/yabbse/index.php?boar...;threadid=12984
  4. Okay I did that and still get the same error. I went to check the windows firewall and it said that windows firewall was not started, so when I told it to start it it errored out and said unable to start windows firewall. The cmd command came back with the EXACT same error message.
  5. Okay here's the update: The connection settings have everything setup right. Driver startup is correct The router is fine, the NIC is fine NO static IP Everything on Microsoft checks out fine. When I ran the netsh int ip command I got the error: "initialization function inithelperdll in IPMONTR.dll failed to start with error code 10107" Any ideas? BTW I installed Norton 2008 for him the other day but it worked for about a month since then.
  6. I'm working on a system that is having major problems. It's a Windows XP Home Ed. system, the guy called and said he was unable to connect to his DSL so he called Verizon. After calling them it started working, then the next day nothing worked. Now it won't DHCP or even able to connect to Verizon through a static IP. When I hook it up to a router with DHCP services it only shows 0.0.0.0 no real address. I checked the router and the router is fine. I thought it was the NIC so I swapped NIC's and still the same thing. Norton antivirus even pops up with an error stating I need to disable my e-mail scanner since TCP/IP is not installed. So I repaired the installation of XP feature on the CD where it reinstalls the OS while keeping all your files and settings and still no luck. Any ideas?
  7. I agree with everybody else I sure hope AMD recovers. I build pc's for people on the side and when I order parts I build all my systems with AMD unless the client requests different. If AMD goes away we're ALL in trouble. If AMD is out of the ballgame can you say "price gouging".
  8. What I can think of off the top of my head is with 64-bit you'll be ready for when everything is converted to 64 bit and you'll already be ready to enjoy everything 64 bit has to offer rather than scramble to get a fix like everyone else.
  9. Try this, try uninstalling the latest updates that were pushed out and see if that resolves the problem. I haven't ran into this problem myself, but that's what I'd try.
  10. At work we only purchase Gateway laptop's and desktops and have had great success. I personally own a Compaq Presario and have ran it to it's max and it's still running. Although here recently when I order a laptop for someone when I do computer work on the side, I just order Toshiba and haven't had a single problem yet.
  11. That took care of it. Thanks aahmad.
  12. My boss is running Outlook 2003 on her machine, and last week, she had it turned on, while she had it turned on, we rebooted the exchange server, after the reboot she is unable to get out of office to work on her machine. When she clicks on out of office she gets a message that says, "The command is not available. See the program documentation about how to use this extension." I tried running the repair feature for it and still no luck. The only way she gets the OOF to work is going through the webmail feature. Any ideas?
  13. That's what I was afraid of. Oh well, I can at least say I tried. Thanks crahak.
  14. So here's the problem. I've NEVER messed with Mac to begin with so bear with me. One of my customers has a Mac and I'm assuming he's running OS X. He is wanting me to test some software on it, but I don't want to do it on his system in fear of destroying something. So I was wondering if there is a place where you can download a trial of OS X like Microsoft offers all Windows products so I can load it on my virtual machine and test. Is this possible, and if so where do I go to get the download?
  15. All I can say is, if this is what the movie by mail companies are doing I'll just stick to my local video rental store and live ad-free, for now I hope.
  16. Sounds pretty cool, I like it.
  17. I tested the software yesterday afternoon and works like a champ. I tried removing it using Windows and of course got the error, then tried that app. and just 2 clicks and it was removed. It's great and it FREE!!!
  18. Thanks for all your help crahak, this looks like a bigger job than what I thought, we've got a contract with aconsulting firm who does work like this when it's above and beyond our knowledge so I think I'll give them a call in the morning and see what they can do for us. The way I figure it, if something goes wrong it's their fault and not mine. LOL! Thanks again for all your help.
  19. Thanks for the link crahak, that has some really valuable info. in it, now I'm wanting to know how to configure teh mirror ports and use wireshark to watch the traffic from a laptop.
  20. I checked the switch it's a Cisco Catalyst 4503. Not sure if that model supports what your askin, but thought I'd drop that piece of info. in as well.
  21. We've been having trouble here at work with one of our servers, so the company who manages our database software says that to do some testing we must mirror a switch port, and then plug a laptop into the mirrored port and do some testing while "sniffing" a certain port. My question is, to mirror a switch port do I just configure the empty port manually just like the switch port in question or is there a command I must type in to tell the port to mirror the first one. It's a Cisco router BTW.
  22. I found this download on PC World this morning, I haven't tried it but I think it'll do EXACTLY what your needing. http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,...ml?tk=nl_ddxdwn
  23. Hey gang, I've been doing some work over at my forum and added some new sections, just wanted to extend an invitation to everyone and would appreciate any ideas for new sections, the overall look, etc. http://joe43wv.forumup.it/index.php?mforum=joe43wv
  24. Have you tried changing the drive letters? Try changing the drive letter to something higher up like L or M. This may not work but it's worth a shot. I've seen this fix issues like this one before.
