  1. now that you've learnt how to do the config.js etc, which i found a bit harder to to than expected, i think you may benefit for this site http://unattended.msfn.org as this will guide you through some of the basics your are after, directory structure etc
  2. Also you have no order numbers ordr[pn]=[15] so could be all are trying to install at same time?
  3. i've tried this and it doesn't work The command i use is this %windir%\\system32\\cmd /c start /wait %CDROM%\\Apps\\activesync\\setup.exe /s You need to call cmd as otherwise start doesn't isn't called, the /c, is so the the dos box terminates on end i've found the other apps in order after it are just run.
  4. what if you do try to install with a transform file as that is silent as well? or just at least call the standard setup, so that this way you know it is finding the install files.
  5. if this means yes you have just deleted files you thought weren't needed, then yes you will need to use recovery cd as explained by bullet
  6. @astalavista - runs from cd a charm, just used the files as provided in the original, modified the wpi.css & .htm file and all worked fine. Also installs apps from the cd. @coucou - not tried running from cmdlines.txt, I just run from winnt.sif runonce section at the end. The CD looks ok, but is the file win51 on root of cd? if yes, then should be ok and yes, should be placed in the runonceex, otherwise it doesn't know you wish to install from CD. The rest looks ok, but as said i run from winnt.sif
  7. Yes - Win2kSP4 IE6SP1 NO - on NT4Sp6a IE6SP1 - directs you to old site Seems not a lot different from what i could see, or did i miss something obvious!!
  8. Sounds like you've deleted what you *think* are un-needed files - biig mistake as XP will need them at some, as you've discovered. I would do as bullet said and see if that resolves issue. Oh, and a little better description at the beginning would have been more helpful.
  9. I just get winnt.sif to call the wpi.hta file direct and it works fine with no need to run the videochanger or fontinstaller part, no errors and all fonts and screen size are as expected. Nice and silent that way, though can see some people needing it. How do you change from .cmd to .exe?
  10. You can get this from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en It is known as the Redist version
  11. It does only occur with home as i use it on xp pro. Installed with no issues and i have xpsp2 slipstreamed in, no askig for cd or anything. Reading your other forum you seem to have found a solution. So what is your actual question now? or are you asking for further advice?
  12. There is also a regkey related to this. Run regsnap to capture the specific key, but that alone doesn't disable the feature. You'll have same issue in v7.0.1
  13. Have done the above with no issues - installed via WPI, so no reason to not work in runonceex. Just in case you wanted to know.
  14. I have been looking at doing this for a while and managed to resolve issue with help from you guys and from mindvision.com site. I used this command line; <pathname>\QuickTimeFullInstaller.exe -s and the .ini file is called; quicktimeinstaller.ini as anything else fails all the time quicktimeinstaller.ini file looks like this; ;QuicktimeInstaller.ini [QTSETUP] license_option=0 no_dialogs=true registration_dialog=false supress_speed_dialog=true install_qtjava=false install_qd3d=true install_quicklaunch_icons=false install_desktop_icons=false show_sample=false show_readme=false show_programfolder=false install_qtinfo=false [QTPREFS] show_hotpicks=false ConnectionSpeed="1.5 Mbps T1/Intranet/Lan" CSMultipleStreams=0 You need both files in same folder. It does show you what is happening, but does it all with no user interaction. I have NOT tried via runonceex.cmd or wpi, but will do later on and update. Edit:This is all based on QuickTimeFullInstaller v6.5.2
  15. shutdown.exe is already installed on XP Pro PC's, so you don't need to install anything - Try it and see what happens. Maybe the others do need admin rights to install them so ask your admin to install it on them if it means you can do your job more quickly and efficiently.
  16. Administrator rights means you an install and un-install programs correctly. Deleting files, does not un-intstall it. Seems as though you will need to do a registry clean of MSN Messenger bits that are left. Registry Mechanic will assist, though i have never used it. Once these have been removed you can then re-install MSN Messenger v7. Again, you can only doe this if you have admin rights - to know this open the control panel and select user. Is your username there? does it say Computer Administrator next to it? if yes, then close the box and use Add/Remove to un-install programs safetly. Try this with MSN and it may work even though some files are missing.
  17. Are you logged in as an administrator to your PC? if not, no you can't install. Are you doing the correct update? if you have MSN Messenger 7 installed, the update for Windows Messenger & MSN Messenger 6.1 | 6.2 WILL NOT WORK. Maybe the downloaded file is corrupt - delete it and re-download and then re-install
  18. NT4 SP6a IE6SP1 - no issues XPSP2 - no issues
  19. Update: having run and checked all settings, it appeared as though a line break had managed to make it's way into the config.js file. Added the command <br /> to create one, saved, tested and all ok. Thanks for pointing in right direction kelsenellenelvian
  20. There is another free product out there that does te same and mor as shutdown. Called PsShutdown and it's freeware available from http://www.sysinternal.com as part of the PSTools set For info => http://www.windowsitpro.com/Windows/Articl...4973/44973.html
  21. Thought a copy and re-copy would solve it, but when happened again, thought something else has to be an issue, though which file i'm not as only updated the config.js to add a cmd line to do a start /wait when installing a program as doesn't always work correctly, though if do standalone with same switch works fine!! If seeing the config.js helps shout and i'll post up as requested. Oldman
  22. @kelsenellenelvian - Thanks for your prompt and helpful reply as always. Ive done something simple and seems to have solved it!! copied from one dir to another, ran wpi.hta - all worked, so copied back again, replacing all files in process and all works. Shall burn to cd, and build to see what heppens. Will let you know out come. I did change the theme, by adding a different background and removing all reference to the tables and directing to the background image from within the wpi.htm body section with background= That fails in test as expected as runnig from different location. if of help, can still post my config.js and others if neeeded. Oldman
  23. Hiya, have some small tweaking wih WPI to look and feel a bit more personal, whoever i've chaned something to cause a javascript error when it runs, but can't figure what change is causing it. The error is attached, (not sure how to add image) along wpi.hta, but as you can see the line 76 exist, but char28 doesn't or i'm think, which is likely. If I click yes or no it runs, but show none of the applications available, an dnone of the links for Options, Config etc work If you need more, shout and will oblige, and any assistance appreciated. Apologies for the big post. an Oldman getting annoyed edit: removed wpi.hta code as rather too big
  24. I have this and sometimes means the cd was written to incorrectly. If your using cd-rw, erase and re-burn your iso, Try again and should be ok.
  25. Using the shutdown.exe program within XP does what you want, though only if your running XP on your machines, and then you can do from yours a batch command that will shutdown all PC's you call from it: Usage: shutdown.exe [-i | -l | -s | -r | -a] [-f] [-m \\computername] [-t xx] [-c "comment"] [-d up:xx:yy] No args Display this message (same as -?) -i Display GUI interface, must be the first option -l Log off (cannot be used with -m option) -s Shutdown the computer -r Shutdown and restart the computer -a Abort a system shutdown -m \\computername Remote computer to shutdown/restart/abort -t xx Set timeout for shutdown to xx seconds -c "comment" Shutdown comment (maximum of 127 characters) -f Forces running applications to close without warning -d [u][p]:xx:yy The reason code for the shutdown u is the user code p is a planned shutdown code xx is the major reason code (positive integer less than 256) yy is the minor reason code (positive integer less than 65536)
