  1. like it very much, can you let slip what else it will help with? as my html & css knowledge next to zip
  2. sorry not sure how to un-install unless it's listed in add/remove prgrams. can only think to stop service and try to re-install on top so it will replace corrupt files and reg keys, which is could be problem, though with yourself having tried that, i'm not sure. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en is the link to download.
  3. what windowsinstaller v2, i know that does. just thinking do the obvious first and then see what heppens. does the service start? does it hang?
  4. i believe thsi is possible via winnt.sif. If you download the deployment tools and read ref.chm it will explain who it can be done, but i'm sure it can be.
  5. Have you upgraded to the latest WindowsInstaller, which I think is v3.1 If not try that in case your installer files are corrupt.
  6. taken straight from there website. I just prefer the registered version as i then don't get the adverts.
  7. this is normally applied via cmdlines.txt at the t-12 section. I'm sure it's mentioned within the unattneded.msfn.org site, but not all things show unless you click on links
  8. add this to your winn.sif [Display] BitsPerPel = 32 Xresolution = 1024 YResolution = 768 Vrefresh = 85 and read as noted by Fritz_Saxi a little site called http://unattended.msfn.org and 99% or queries will be answered. Also worth reading ref.chm from your deployment tools
  9. 2; the toolkit i just ran /passive with no issues => check you have .net framework installed and you've quotes around the file name as it has spaces in it 3; for mdac, do a search and you should get some results. i just did and seems you install via svcpack.inf file 4; for the xpshell thing use /S, case sensitive, (just guessed and it worked)
  10. apologies if i'm being really dumb here but the /? help says that the basic switch you can use is exactly what i am using, cdswitch.exe <cdlabel> <cddriveletter> and so that is what i'm using, expecting the cd-rom to close when i close it and then it will autorun and run the autorun.inf file there in. Are you saying i should use, cdswitch.exe <drivelabel> <driveletter> /r:<file to be run> /rw [edit] Ive now managed to spot where it goes wrong. Using the code (2nd above) where he param calls a file to run and it failing i managed to open explorer and notice that the label against the cd (D:) hasn't updated, so it doesn't recognise and so contimues. Just need to now work out why the cd drive doesn't refresh the label quick enough. [/edit]
  11. @nanaki, 1st, thanks for your time and patience in assisting 2; i'm running from WPI (WindowsPostInstallation) app as the last application. My command is run directly from the cd as %cdrom%\apps\misc\cdswitch.exe xpsp2_apps d: /k:c:cdswitch.txt the log file being generated to see if any errors are encountered. Looging at the log file, it appears as though none are generated looking at it, see below ================== CDswitch 0.8.2 log ================== CDswitch version: 0.8.2.0 Path to CDswitch: D:\Apps\Misc\cdswitch.exe Resolution: 1024x768x32x85 OS: WIN_XP Service Pack 2 build 2600 Working directory: C:\ User: Administrator Date: 14/08/2005 Time: 19:09.25 Your supplied parameters: xpsp2_apps d: /k:C:CDswitch.txt Number of parameters detected: 3 Parameter check: ---------------- 3. Parameter "/k" detected. Used to create this log. The log will be saved at "C:CDswitch.txt". Disc drive check: ----------------- Detected drives: 1. d: ================ END LOG ================ Does the length of the cd label make a difference as mine is 10chr long? Can you think of any thing that would cause it to not run? seeing as no error is encountered thank you again
  12. @slinger, where do you place the winbom.ini file?, I386 folder, $OEM$, or on a floppy disk and it will find it? Do you have to reference it from your winnt.sif file?
  13. @nanaki will have a look at doing and generating the log to check errors and update. At present I call cdswitch from the cd-rom directly using cdswitch.exe xpsp2_apps d: and it ejects cd1 and asks for cd2. cd2 is then inserted and is labelled exactly as above, but it doesn't read it. It then loads windows shell as normal after what appears to be a timeout period. If i insert cd2 as a test the autorun runs as expected and apps install
  14. i've tried to do more into this and nothing. seems to work. Does nobody register this product or do they register after installation?
  15. i use radmin look at vnc, ultravnc, gotomypc.com, pc anywhere, remote desktop there are load os them about allwith + and - points
  16. 1; the LClock switch is mentioned on the site and i'm pretty sure it is /S (case sensitive) 2; use /quiet or /passive (standard msi switches) 3; mentioned elsewhere i believe 4; do you know what type of installer it is? look here for advice of recognition and stuff, http://unattended.msfn.org/ click intermediate
  17. Sorry, may have been my mis-understanding. If the second partition isn't formatted then ,you correct, no chance of installing apps upon it. Assume most people when they do this, format the partition first and then re-install so it doesn't matter. How else you can do this, not sure but think a few other topics have been started also asking for this.
  18. Iki, you can do what your after, creating your own partitions, and the rest fully unattended by opening winnt.sif and changing the AutoRepartition=1 to AutoRepartition=0 in the [data] section
  19. loybuckz, no need to shout at us. by clicking start | run and typing <pathtofilename>\cdswitch.exe /? you will see a list of options. The most simplist though is <pathtofilename>\cdswitch.exe" nameof2ndcd cd-romdriveletter: Nanaki, is their anyreason though why the above doesn't always work? I use the above and it doesn't run the second cd, but if i insert anyway after building it does autorun, so this hasn't been disabled by accident in a tweak. Cheers
  20. i know i know, there is a search engine and using the phrase +download +accelerator A search of dap fins zero, zip, no results I found topics that provided me with the install swithces and to kill the app after install, and it works. HOWEVER, nobody noted down how they register it so they then use the Premium version during the silent install. I've registered it and regsnap'd so i can acquire regkeys and with these imported before/after or both it still doesn't regsiter it, so i have to after all is complete. So, Can anybody shed light on silent registration of this download manager. Yes, i know people will say search, and then snip or laugh or both and you can but i'm not convinced you'll get info on registration of this application.
  21. sgt_strider, having compared the list on the site by DigeratiPrime and the pdf document that was offered, I can see that the list is larger in the pdf, and that is because all possible services that can be installed are listed. The URL list only the default install ones. Also, he has said NOT-SO-SAFE to some which are quite safe to set as Manual, i.e. Fast USer Switching if you don't use teh new logon style you don't need it. The list by DigeratiPrime is split into the same style as BlackViper, but he has given the reg key for each one, nothing more. So your ok to use the SAFE list as is and just alter them to start as required, Auto, Manual, Disabled. IF all goes well, then start to tweak the others, but with services care is needed.
  22. these have been answered in the registry tweaks section a number of times. I'd start by looking in the regtweak sticky and then in the topics called reg tweaks. Yes there is a lot of them, 3 parts if i recall, and you may find some that you've not even heard or thougt of as well. Or, you could do manually, buy using regsnap when you select to enable/disable the option.
  23. yes it is possible. you'd be better doing a WinRAR SFX so it silently extract the files to your destination. It has been asked and answered before, so a quick search will give you the results your after
  24. is your $oem$ on the same level as I386 or inside? Should be on same level. You may also benefit from reading this site http://unattended.msfn.org 2 minor things, 1; people don't appreciate topic headings called help, it means nothing to anybody 2; use code tags, makes life easier for the reader to know which is commenst, questions and which is code oh, and welcome
