  1. Read the news on the frontpage, It states that IE7 Beta1 is only being distributed to 10,000 beta testers and 500,000 msdn and technet members. General public will get when Beta2 is released. Microsoft Releases Limited Beta Of IE7 For Windows XP
  2. Also, some vmware/virtulapc will only use standard vga until you apply the tools to it to fully utilise the graphics card. If you were to build on a real pc, you'll find it may well work. As stated by TheBeets, that is how i apply my theme and it works a charm.
  3. Looks very nice. Will it be possible to remove / hide / not apply the media player bar? (Don't have need for sound in PC)
  4. Just looking at mine, as i'd like to do this also, I don't have the taskmgr.exe option available. Can this be created as a subkey, do the REG_SZ thing and it all be ok? or do i have an underlying issue. TaskManager runs perfectly fine with no issues.
  5. Cheers Kel, that explains why i do get the, "this script is running slowly" message. Will start to use the .cmd from now
  6. That's what i use, and funnily enough, thought that was why the feature was part of the program.
  7. kelsenellenelvian, I just call the .hta and have encountered no issues of any kind. Is their a specific reason for calling the .cmd to call the .hta file? Cheers, Oldman
  8. Why not apply your theme via the winnt.sif file during your install? I and many do it this with create success, if you search for RoyaleTheme you'll get many results but is the correct one. Can't add more as at work and can't remember it all of top of head.
  9. Also, your transform file will need to be told where it is, unless that is on the office cd
  10. Check your account settings and do the test settings option. That is your most likely problem, and of course check your net connection is active and your firewall allows outlook internet access
  11. i use zonealarm pro, never had an issue, easy to install and configure.
  12. MHz, no offence intended here I know it's an installshield installer, says in big letters during install I also know how to create and use a setup.iss, as noted in my posts above The unpacked files don't work and have subsequntly found out that the manufacturer realesed an incomplete installer as it doesn't extract all file, so am awaiting new realese and should be okay
  13. tried that, and no didn't work. I may not have said, but the user.exe file that installs extracts the files to a temp folder, which contains the setup.exe and other stuff. Using this setup.exe doesn't work as asks for a file that doesn't exist, data2.cab. so i need to pass my created setup.iss to the extracted files setup, or i install and then modify, which defeats the object of silent install [edit] just looked on installshield.com, and your correct /f1 : Specify alternative response file name and path /f2 : Specify alternative log file name and path So it was my interpretation [/edit]
  14. Thanks mmarable. Will give it a try, but according to installshield.com, tht is only to produce a log to the output file you wish, or i mis-read there instructions
  15. Using the /S /V/QN I can silently install my application. I can create my setup.iss file by using the -r switch. If i use the -s switch it doesn't read the setup.iss file as i need it to. I can't use the extracted files from with the temp folder, as when i use these it asks for data2.cab, which doesn't exist on the PC, i can only assume it is held within another file of unknown format. Looking on the Manufacturers website doesn't produce any useful results to assist. Looking on installshield website, it says to use -s, but it doesn't work. How do I use the -s switch in this case? Any help or pointers appreciated. a tired oldman
  16. turn off your windowsinstaller rollback via regtweak, if that is where you set it, have another go and see if does same thing. I install all 3 Acrobat 7 installs using /quiet /norestart, I use the msi file in each case, with no issues. Or it could be a corrupt download?
  17. Also, you mentioned that you didn't use nlite, but then you did use something similar to remove IE6, which isn't easy to install on it's own. I agree with the others, WPI DOWS need IE6. Easiest way, clean install of XPSP2 with NO MODIFICATIONS, and test. If all ok, then make mods, but leave IE6 alone. @kelsenellenelvian; May be worth adding on the homepage, some thing that states, It doesn't work if you remove IE6.
  18. Not a bad article. Even better is the url used though
  19. I also noticed it would fail unless i had the WINNTUPG folder on my UA CD. Kept saying it couldn't find a required file, even though installs fine when you click ok to accept. So added the WINNTUPG to CD, (1.9Mb) and installed no issues then. Just thought I'd add this incase any body else had any problems
  20. a quick glance tells me your copy command is the potential problem. copy system32 c:\<whatever else it says> should probably read something like %windir%\system32\xcopy.exe [params] c:\<whatever else it says> as i have never heard or seen he format your using to copy, unless your wanting to copy system32 to somewhere in which case i still feel it is incorrect
  21. Note: read the post put to you by Alanoll, very slowly as it is described very clearly what the X's represent and mean. Retails CD's have no representation for the CD Key as there is no winnt.sif file, hence it asks you for all details when you install it including the serial key. Dell is slightly different to eveybody else - see the squllion other dell topics for specific details. OiOldman
  22. well spotted, that isn't needed, that being the phase "& nbsp" Also [setupprams] is something i've never seen. As noted read the provided url in previous post
  23. Yes, this is so you can add h/w for more than one device
  24. welcome, 1. - next time please use a topic header that shows what is your problem, "help me", means nothing. 2. - this would be due i should think to a file you have changed, either config.js or useroptions.js 3. - also could check that all files are still in same structure 4. - does a clean un-modified one work?
  25. Welcome, Your trying and haven't given up, which is a good start. Have you looked here? http://unattended.msfn.org it is very useful and helpful and you'll find most peole started of by going through this. THough, not exactly sure what your specific problem with Applicaion Installs is, so can you explain in english clearly what your problem is. OiOldman
