Just sits at 39mins, goes no further
oioldman replied to oioldman's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Knew that prathapml, and the cmd prompt appears and you could see it had copied stuff over, but then system just seemed to stop and even stayed like that overnight, (a good 12hrs). In end shot foot and changed cd-drive, and voila all good. -
Exactly what you said. If you read the Virtual PC user guide it will tell you, you can have multiple OSes installed at different stages so you can do that. Install The OS as you want it, saving the image. Then run the image and install apps etc, then when you close the image you have two opens, close and save changes, close do not save changes. You choose your option.

HAve also found that using the known good DVD-ROM in the bad PC it all worked. Looks like the burnt CD's didn't want to work at 48x but did at 40x. So, problem solved. Thanks for help guys. -
This page contains what you were after http://unattended.msfn.org/global/reference.htm It was on step4 of the beginners section clicking on the reference link. Maybe not obvious, but i guessed by clicking the links to see what it told me.

How to make a copy of Directory from CD to Hdd via
oioldman replied to swbchen's topic in Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI)
i have code i use at home that works, but you need to use something akin to this %windir%\system32\xcopy /E /V /Q <from path> <to path> /E - Copies directories and subdirectories, including empty ones. Same as /S /E. May be used to modify /T. /V - Verifies each new file. /Q - Does not display file names while copying. if you want to use other switches, open a command prompt and type xcopy /? Hope it helps -

oioldman replied to Jedi82's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
You need the key under HKEY_CURRENT_USER HKEY_USERS - this will change for each user and i think on reboot and the s-1------- is the users SID Also, tell us what your after with that key and you may find it exist either on this site already or somebody has it that you can borrow. -

Som questions, newbie, plez!
oioldman replied to Jedi82's topic in Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI)
if your using xpsp2 you will have direct 9 already. for the applications, see that thread which will list 90% of applications you have and how to install silently. If you compare the applications you want to install and look at the example you've downloaded you will see how most of it works. -
edit: ignore my ramblings. Apologies, old age and eye sight as good as used to be.

Done that, and also set the BIOS to load default options - no luck. Also set it to use Performance. The BIOS does have ACPI support otherwise it won't allow XP to be installed, but do you think a BIOS update may work? -

Thanks for the thought guys. 1.Have left it sitting @39mins for nealry an hour, and then turning of the pc and back on in hope it will pick it up, but it just goes back to same spot. 2.Will transfer the cd-drive over and see if that makes a difference. I know the drives are "supposed" to be 48x, built by samsung, so their not that bad and the cd are by imation, burnt at 1x in hope it would be more reliably burnt. -
All, I've managed to create and burn my CD with no issues. It has a few apps and they're select by using WPI. Now, the problem i have is weird and i can't figure what is wrong, so any suggestion are appreciated. If I place this CD in a PC it will, boot as expected, rebuild partition and copy files over. It then does first reboot and install as you want. I have to enter my PC, Compnay Name & Serial Key. I then put this CD into any number of other machine, it boots as expected, rebuild partition and copy files over. It then does first reboot and just stays at the 39mins stage for ever and a day. If i eject the cd it complains about not being able to read d:\i386\asms folder, but if i view the cd, the folder and files exist, because it worked on the other pc no issues. Looking on MS site it does mention that CD is corrupt, but not sure as works in other PC all the time, regular as clockwork. It also said that asms folder is missing or files are 0kb, not right as worked on other pc no issues. So, why does it just sit there? and do nothing? Thanks for ready this and assisting of you can. A frustrated Oldman

how to make separated wpi cd ?
oioldman replied to semo16's topic in Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI)
Having looked at your set-up lionhrt, I can see nothing wrong with it. The folder structure all looks right and and your config.js file has correct path names in it. Though your reg key for 5CardDeluxe has a spelling mistake within it. (missing the e) -
Nero - and can be silent installed

how to make separated wpi cd ?
oioldman replied to semo16's topic in Windows Post-Install Wizard (WPI)
hay, no need to slag me off. I found that by doing the UaCD and getting that working with some basic apps like winrar, AV via runonceex.cmd with no issues, it taught me the file structur and commands needed to be called. i then progressed onto doing wpi, so back off. If you took offence, sorry non intended. Which when looking through the example WPI i downloaded it was easier to understand it all. Looking at your command line, c:\wpi\install\games\with all my .exe game files your installing from the folder wpi, but in your config.js file your not calling from there cmd1[pn]=['%systemdrive%\\Install\\Games\\FiveCardDeluxeSetup.exe /silent'] Ref the regfile, if you place at beginning and end you know that thinks like tweaks & registartion info will be applied But then you can keep your 5cents and ignore all i've typed in trying to help. -
And what if your not using a title of the dos box?, which i'm not. Having looked at the start /? your correct in that it should be /start "tilte" /wait <command to run>

also, astalavista has writtenn exe for this. read about six topics up called => wpi.cmd to wpi.exe silent no screen
