Then close them by either way on that guide. CloseThreshold did work for me when I first installed it. Like it a lot. I found it not working around a week ago when I happened to open Task manager.

Rocky, I am using SIB+ 1.5, applying Plain8 but see no icon on the Shut down button! And why Windows update is mentioned here?Sorry if you find me annoying! I just can't stand when we installed the same version but it looks different on your computer. Edit: Now I remember I used to have the same problem as the one PandaX posted. The icons on Start Menu were messed up and it looked really funny! It happened long ago with SIB for W8. Never have this problem with SIB+ on W8.1 though.

Quite a few people use utilities to tweak their Windows XP, Vista, and 7. I find it normal if we use tweakers on W8/8.1 too. Now I have SIB+, UltraUXThemePatcher, Uncleaner, Unlocker, Vista Shortcut Manager. Except for SIB, I had to install all the others on W7 when I was still using it.

Thanks Rocky, it works now. But I won't change the icon very often because I don't like to restart the explorer at all. I notice that there is a small icon on your Shut down button! What visual style of SIB are you using?

Oh Jaclaz, how about reading this for the definition of "better" : http://oald8.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/dictionary/better More seriouly, it is very personal when I say Win 8/8.1 better than Win 7. But I believe many others who have chosen to use 8 or 8.1 have the same ideas as mine although we have different needs to use a computer and different ways to use it too. I can't write a long post now to analyse why I find 8/8.1 better. But I can be sure that I prefer Win 8 not just because I feel it faster than Win 7. I use W8 because it has some new interesting features that W7 doesn't have. Btw, people who say or think W8 is not good or not worth trying are those who don't use W8 for long enough to evaluate it precisely. Again, this is my very own opinion!

Um... both restarting the explorer and restarting Windows doesn't work for me. It is still the same default icon. Can you change it, Rocky?

Xpclient, The one I used before is for Win 8.1 and I also got it from Winaero. I don't see any update for it from your link. But thanks anyway.

In my mind, Win 8 or 8.1 is surely better than Win 7!

Why I cannot change the icon of Start screen on Start Menu? Actually, it lets me change and apply a different icon but it is still the old one displaying on Start Menu. See that PandaX can change it though! Edit: uh oh... it seems to be a bug screenshot he posted, not that he could change it!

Not sure for what reason the CloseThreshold doesn't work for me any more. Now I close the metro applications by pressing Alt+F4.

Sorry for bumping this topic. I happened to find this lovely tool today: http://winaero.com/download.php?view.71 Using it does solve the problem I mentioned before. This tool makes all the applications I have opened and then closed from the start screen work properly. I don't have to end them from Task Manager any more. So nice!

I also keep the ribbon because I like it. I don't let it display the detail pane. The area showing folders and items will be narrow if both the ribbon and the detail pane are enabled. Tihiy, how about just calling this tool "Explorer Tweaker"?

Thanks for sharing your tool, Tihiy. It's pretty nice. But is there any other name nicer for it? Would like to see something laconic on the title bar when opening it. PS. Never notice before that I can drag the detail pane to change its size! Cool to see the pane around again but decide not show it for sure!

Night, I decided to use your Windows 7 theme alternatively with Aero RP. I like the white caption on a dark title bar sometimes. I got it here: http://winaero.com/blog/windows-7-vs-port-for-windows-8/ Basic style doesn't work so I use Aero style only. Thank you for replying.

Yeah, it was fixed. But actually what is the use of this Startscreen? See it running in Task Manager but don't know what it is for. Btw, like it when you made new properties for the appearance. Thanks for keeping improving SIB.

Tihiy, when I installed the above version Avira blocked StartScreen.exe so I had to restart the explorer through Task Manager. It still installed 1.5 beta1, however. Does anyone here using Avira have the same problem?

Hi Night, Glad that you made this for Win 8.1! Thanks so much! It looks as nice as the one for Win 8. There is only one thing I'd like to ask about. When I click on the bookmark of Firefox, the arrows to show the links inside a folder are too big. On IE and Maxthon they display very OK. I don't know if it happens to anyone else or just on my computer. Can you check it up, please? Thank you again for sharing the theme.
