Strange, it works here. The link JFX gave is to: https://sites.google.com/site/vmwarethewiki/Create-WIM-images-of-Windows-XP-for-system-deployment Which is wiki that begins with the text: How to create a hardware independent sysprepped WIM image which is the link I posted to the "base" document: http://www.jerryblogger.com/2010/08/create-wim-image-of-windows-xp-for.html jaclaz Ah, it seems that link that didn't work, and still doesn't, has some extraneous characters at the end of the link. A copy link and paste into Notepad gets this, without the extra spaces of course: http :// www .jerryblogger.com/2010/08/create-wim-image-of-windows-xp-for.html%C2%A0 The new copy of the link you provided works fine. Cheers and Regards

Optimistic little devil aren't you? You definitely appear to be a glass half full kind of person and, IMHO, that is a very nice thing. But it is interesting that you chose a modified #5 instead of #7. I guess that helps explain how you got "someday" out of the quotes you posted. Keep thinking good thoughts. Maybe it will help make the world a better place. At the very least it will help balance out against vinifera, one of the curmudgeons of the board. (No offense meant. It takes all kinds. ) Cheers and Regards

jaclaz, was your second link meant to be the same as the one that JFX gave? Your link gave me a "Not found" error. Cheers and Regards

Sorry Flasche, I still seem to not be seeing something you are seeing. Looking strictly at your quotes above, it seems to me that it says: (my interpretation) [quasi-quote] There are several current products, including Opera mini and many TV installs, that use Presto, and we hope/plan that those products will continue to use Presto. But we still have no plans at this time to open-source Presto. As of this time, Presto will continue to be a closed source proprietary product that we will continue to market to a select clientele. We know there is interest in it for other purposes, and we know that others are willing to do the necessary work to modify it for those purposes if we would be willing to release it as an open source product, but unfortunately we do not have any plans to release Presto as an open source product. [/quasi-quote] I don't see a "someday" hinted at anywhere. Yes, as with the marketing plans of any product of any company, those plans might change in the future, but I just don't see from your quotes above that they are giving anyone any firm hope that may happen. You are by all means encouraged to hope, petition, beg, or anything else you can think of to get it to happen. Less likely things have come to pass. Cheers and Regards

I have used CCleaner for years and have never experienced any problems like what happened to xmf. Cheers and Regards

Naturally I clicked the provided link to the see what was up, when it brought me to an other comment on the opera develper 22 blog from a moderator who said... ... saying that they will Open sourse Presto engine...Someday, but not now, ... From your quotes above, it looks like they're being consistent to me, so I'm not sure where you got the "Someday" from. And I agree with vinifera that even if a moderator expressed a different opinion than a developer I would believe the developer over the moderator every time. Cheers and Regards

True. Some sites make it harder than others. In the above case, besides the methods you and others suggested, I was able to find the link by simply examining the page source and searching for a .swf file. The full link is plainly listed. Cheers and Regards

I think that is because the question was "How Do I Download This Thinkpad Video", not "How Do I Play This Thinkpad Video". Cheers and Regards

Hey dencorso, just curious which tool you used to find and show those file differences? Cheers and Regards

Help Creating Win7 Aio With Integrated Updates
bphlpt replied to napster100's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
Try Win Toolkit which can update all of the editions inside the .WIM, if that is what you want to do. Remember that there are some updates that cannot be integrated offline and must only be applied after the OS has been installed. Cheers and Regards -
IPB Update July 2013 (to version 3.4.5) - BUGS Only
bphlpt replied to xper's topic in Site & Forum Issues
So what is the limit and is the limit different based on admin versus regular user? And why would it load all the quote blocks with the quote button and then not allow them to be posted? Cheers and Regards Limit is set to 3 embedded quotes. I don't think it's good idea to set limit to high because some browsers may crash. OK, limit is now set to 10 emb. quotes. Thanks xper! Also, FYI there is an XP SP4 project in progress, though it is not in its final form quite yet. That might end up being of help to you. Cheers and Regards

The Solution for Seagate 7200.11 HDDs
bphlpt replied to Gradius2's topic in Hard Drive and Removable Media
Elpigo, if you are not dealing with a 7200.11 drive, PLEASE start a separate thread for ANY questions or discussions you might have. It does not matter if "... the medecine also applies to his kin brother 7200.12. I used it and had success with it and I clearly mentionned it in my post.". Keeping questions and discussions about any drive besides a 7200.11 in separate threads will help others find those threads if they are in similar circumstances to you. As to whether a "repaired" 7200.11 can be safely used, I believe it has been stated that just because the 7200.11 drive has been "repaired" does not mean that it has been "fixed" so that it will not fail again. If the same circumstances happen again that caused it to fail the first time, it is just as likely that it will fail again, even if the drive has had its firmware updated and it has been reformatted. There is no known "percentage of it going wrong again". So it is recommended that it only be used as a secondary or tertiary backup drive. Cheers and Regards -

Quoting a post used to include embedded quotes, and now it doesn't anymore. See http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/171726-msfn-will-be-closed-for-few-hours/?p=1076966. Can the old behavior please be reinstated? Cheers and Regards -
This is what happens when I quoted your post above. It used to be that quote would include embedded quotes. Can that behavior be restored please? Cheers and Regards

Assuming that is meant as a registration key for Nero14 then you will have to look, and ask, elsewhere. You will find no help here. Cheers and Regards

How to install Windows from USB- WinSetupFromUSB with GUI
bphlpt replied to ilko_t's topic in Install Windows from USB
of course I need EFI.... Why? Even if your system originally came with EIF I don't think that it is required that you keep it. And if you don't use EFI then you can use NTFS which would allow the size of install.wim that you need. Cheers and Regards -
America's Nuclear Arsenal Runs on 8 Inch Floppy Disks
bphlpt replied to ZortMcGort11's topic in Technology News
I still have an 8" floppy drive out in my garage. But I have no idea if it is covered in rust and/or rat droppings or not, and I have no idea if I still have any 8" floppies to use with it. I think I still have a 1200 baud modem as well, the old style where you acoustically connected your phone handset to it with rubber cups, probably along with other ancient no longer usable computer artifacts. Cheers and Regards -
Jody, while I respect submix8c and appreciate his active participation on the forum and his willingness to share what he knows, I too have found his responses a bit harsh and strident at times and I have thought that he sometimes escalated a situation when he "reacted" and occasionally took offense or lost his patience. I have wished that he would sometimes count to ten and consider a bit more how his post would be perceived before he posted. That is not to say that his behavior is not similar to some of the other members here, but because he is a frequent poster, over 3900 posts at this time, it makes sense that he will be noticed more than some others. I would not want him to take offense at my statement here, but he might, and I sincerely hope he will continue to be a valued contributing member here for a long time to come. He has usually responded quickly, and that speed is very important at times, and he has been very good about researching info and I, and others, have benefited from that. But then, I, like dencorso, have also been annoyed by 'your continuous returning to what you call "Windows XP's afterlife" ', and your "concern" about the safety of continuing to use XP, regardless of the many posts and external references that have been made showing that your concern appears to be unwarranted, if proper precautions are taken, so folks should feel safe continuing to use XP if it meets their needs. But then you know my opinion about the matter I'm sure. For the vast majority of your posts you have been polite, no question about that, but you have made them over and over and over ... And I hope you have felt that I have responded to your posts in a polite manner as well, though I guess I have been just as insistent as you have been. And I'm sure others have been annoyed at my propensity of "butting in" to threads that are really none of my business and of which I might not have any personal experience, but I just read something that I thought might apply, or I thought I might could clarify things if it appeared to me that someone misunderstood something, or whatever. I think all of us, including me, would be wise to take the good out of others posts, try to ignore what we feel might be offensive, assume the other person means well and might just have expressed it badly, and try to treat the other person the way we would like to be treated. Cheers and Regards my friend

@aphelion, Your knowledge level is obviously way above mine, but just showing what you've showed and saying "this is wrong" isn't proving anything to me, as an admitted noob. It might be more constructive, assuming that your intention is to help rather than complain for whatever purpose, if you said something like - " This is what I see ____, this is bad because ____, it would be better if it was like this ____, and this is one way to do that _____." Isn't the real purpose of free forums such as this one to help users and provide feedback to developers to help make the tools better, safer, and more productive for everyone? Cheers and Regards
