  3. just need to : make your parameters, quicklaunch position and icon sorting in it, position of the taskbar etc.. and save this key : [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams] and [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Desktop] it works also for the icon view in explorer I tried it more than one time if you save the whole first key including the 0..1..2..... subkeys

  5. HI, HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\classes in HKEY_USERS you see severals S-X-X-XX S-Y-Y-YY HKEY_CURRENT_USER is a link to HKEY_USERS\S-X-X-XX where X-X-XX is for one user and Y_Y_YY is for another user change something in HKEY_CURRENT_USER and search it you'll see it also in one of the S-X-X-XX users (your profile) HKEY_USERS\DEFAULT is default user I don't know about [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags\{...}] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags\{...}\Shell] i'm not sure but [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\{...}] is for icon view and [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MenuOrder\Start Menu2\{...}] are for the sorting view of the start menu and why menu2 because in XP there are two ways to view the menu the older (like 2000,98....) and the new XP menu (the startmenu2) If you delete all the keys under it and go to the start menu after restart you'll see the order of items in the menu changed Hope it help edited : IGNORE HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG

    Notepad

Hi you can't do that because of SFC you have to put your notepad2.exe in the dllcache folder as notepad.exe first and then you put it in the windows and system32 folder 1 in windows/system32/dllcache 2 in windows/system32 3 in windows ignore the question about the windows cdrom serach for notepad.exe you'll find it 3 times (maybe 4 if you have sp1 not slipstreamed ( in a i386 folder) but i don't remember where it is it that you have to change this one first

  12. Hi sorry no help for apps but for your existing runonceex.cmd some problems : You don't need the 2 lines with the .iss files if you created the .iss files for acrobat & powerdvd and if they are in the same dir than the apps you only need the first line for both of them remove and and paul3vanz is right : why not use adobe reader 6?

  16. HI during the first boot make a shortcut in your startmenu using a vbscript run by runonceex this shortcut points to a commandline file .cmd ( better is vbscript if u know it ) the file does the following 1. removing of the shortcut (so u have autodestruction of the shortcut itself ) 2. run 'notepad yourfile.txt' et voila...
  17. I don't know really which one but u can do that : save the key make a modif within the standard method (computer properties) change only the pagefile settings reboot goto registry save the key again and compare the two files You'll see a difference I think however the good one is the pagingfile REG_MULTI_SZ parameter but I don't know what to put in manually (never tested this) try in VMware or vortual PC and you'll see
18. hi first u need to use this to remove the presence of shared docs and others users 's docs ;delete "shared documents" [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\DelegateFolders\{59031a47-3f72-44a7-89c5-5595fe6b30ee}] then to use advanced security u need to use explorer's options display tab and clear the ckeckbox for the last option sorry it's a translation of my french parameters (not sure for the real description): use single sharing options (recomanded) or use that : ;advanced sharing parameters [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa] "ForceGuest"=dword:00000000
  19. hi amigafan, be carful with paging file, I have 1024Mb RAM and some apps crash w/o paging file so I think it's not a good idea to do not use paging file (some games like C&C Generals) however you can find the paging file parameters in the following key (if u don't know it) [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
  20. Hi all, finally after many searchs and trys i found how to enable the Quick Launch with the parameters you want. First, on a newest installation, make your own shortcuts, size the taskbar as you want, enabling the Quick Launch. then export the whole key : [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Desktop] including the two parameters toolbars and TaskbarWinXP use regedit with this .reg during your installation (i didn't test during gui install but during the runonceex install at first logon with a user so i think it works only for current user maybe it can work using [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams\Desktop] remember : this registry tweaks define only size and position of the taskbar, quick launch and all aditionals toolbar you created (see thumbnail) for the shortcuts, you have to put them in your Quick launch folder and/or in the default user quick launch if you want it for new users. Note about testing the .reg : You can't test it in normal session (just after export the key for example) because explorer.exe is running and it permanently update registry for this parameter. The test I did (working ) is the following : 1. export the key 2. run regedit.exe yourfile.reg (without the /s parameter) 3. let regedit give you the question do you want import......blah blah. but don't answer now 3. kill all your explorer.exe process using task manager 4. before explorer come back (it always come back automaticaly) click on the yes button for regedit. 5. see the result your settings are now enabled..... I did sevarals tests with differents positions and sizes and it works on my machine. see the image bellow, do you see the blank space between the icons, it's because in left I have the Quick Launch and in right the tool bar is a shortcut to my documents and settings\all users\start Menu\programs\avg 7.0 folder (containing for shortcuts) Hope this help someone...
  21. This isn't true, with following command you can remove all attributes... attrib -R -H X:\folder /S /D@ Bâshrat the Sneaky Yes I know you're right but ... i prefer using some rar sfx files instead of using the attrib command for the app and files copied by the "blue setup" in the $oem$\$1\$progs and/or $oem$\$1\$docs but it's a personal preference and i think it's sometimes necessary to remind people about the presence of the R/O attributes... @killerbee if you mean remove icons you can use a vbscript at the end of the setup (during the first login with autologon activated) it's what i do after using my rarfiles to remove what ever you want where ever you want (desktop, startup menu drive ....) here is an example you can add a remove command for the internet explorer shortcut in your quick launch folder (eg internet explorer.lnk and mediaplayer.lnk) try it... i do it and it's ok aknott...
  22. I'm not sure but if in your registry, the c: paging file does not appear in the paging file parameter if u can remove it manually w/o problems but only the read only question just put a shortcut in your startup folder to a batfile and in the bat file add the command to remove the pagefile and the shortcut del /F c:\pagingfile.sys del /F %USERPROFILE%\startmenu\start\theshortcut.lnk again I'm not sure but try it u'll see
