8.1 Lite English is available for download on my repository. shark

agreed, and I am discussing this with MSFN management. shark

It is no longer Nullsoft, it is Inno Setup, use: /silent shark

The switches in the 1st post work. The most likely reason this type of install is failing is that DirectX must be updated 1st. Try this before executing the msi: fullpathto\Redist\DirectX\dxsetup.exe /silent shark

Changes to the property table using the commandline do not use forward slashes. Forward slashes are most often used to give direction to windows installer. The capital charchaters depicting the property table entries are only required when writing the property table, they arent needed to be capitalized on the commandline. There was alot of talk on these forums in the past concerning that config.txt file and its usage. I really didnt follow it but I dont think anyone came up with a way to actually apply it to an installation. NeroScout is already set to False in the property table by default. You cannot disable it using the commandline. shark

how do you compare Vista Codec Package to k-lite mega codecs
Shark007 replied to hamohd70's topic in Software Hangout
In private messages I was further challenged as to the quality of the Vista Codec Package. So I give you tangible proof that anyone can verify ... Here is a mpeg file that neither K-Lite's (june 4 release) or CCCP's (Feb 22 release) can play using the default settings of either those installers. Keep in mind that this is a mpeg file, not some obscure container using strange codecs or obscure filters. For informational purposes, the latest releases of VCP are found at in this thread Also note that when testing this file, you must turn OFF all internal filters in Media Player Classic to allow the codec packs own filters to do the work, and not have MPC do it for the package. With the Vista Codec Package, this file plays properly including the 1440x1080 aspect ratio in all versions of Vista as well as WinXP using both Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic with all internal filters turned off. I'm quite sure the developers of these other packages are capable of modifying their releases to allow this mpeg to play properly but thats not the point is it. The point is, we're talking about a common format failing to play with a default installation. shark -
Its a direct msi execution (according to the switches be used which enable the exe to be bypassed) shark

I have posted the installer on my repository. shark

because you made me smile and Thanks for the recognition. shark

[Discontinued] iTunes without QuickTime
Shark007 replied to Shark007's topic in Application Installs
Thanks for posting your appreciation I try not to share these files with the entire planet because thier purpose is unattended use. The repository URL is in my signature and you need to be a logged in MSFN user to see the signature. shark -
I didnt say you were 'stupid'dictionary.com: lacking ordinary quickness and keenness of mind; dull I said 'narrow minded' dictionary.com: not receptive to new ideas; having a closed mind. IMO, your opinion meets the above definition. I'm sorry if you felt insulted.shark

how do you compare Vista Codec Package to k-lite mega codecs
Shark007 replied to hamohd70's topic in Software Hangout
If kLite is fine for you I suggest you stick with what works.Codecs can become quite a problem if you start messing around with them. Both packages are capable of handling almost any file including QuickTime and RealMedia.I doubt there is any file format that one can handle that the other cant. So for functionality, they are pretty well equal. Some obvious differences are: 1. The kLite mega pack is 27MB, the Vista Codec Package is 20MB 2. The kLite installer has about 100 configuration choices to choose from of which have absolutely no meaning to the average user. The Vista Codec Package has 10 choices which can be added or removed and re-added at anytime. 3. After installation, to make changes to kLite's pack, you must remove and re-install the entire package and hopefully by the 47th installation, you get it right. 4. The Vista Codec Package is an 'Out of the Box' solution. Install it, and everything works. No configurations required. With kLite, you will be faced with the situation of needing a different splitter or parser requiring re-installation of the entire package and thats only if you have the knowledge to figure out what you need to install to make it work. 5. The Vista Codec Package detects your operating system and the operating systems default codecs already on the system and installs itself accordingly without messing around with the native codec installations. I think for you, kLite is the best choice because that works for you. Why would you change?I also think that for the average user who isnt familiar with codecs and the issues they can present, the Vista Codec Package is the definite choice. Have you actually tried the Vista Codec Package? It plays everything I have including all of these formats, MKV, FLV, MP4, EVO, 3GP, FLAC, APE, AC3, MOV, HDMOV, RM, RMVB, M2P, DIVX (and much more) and all the usual formats like mpg, mpeg, avi and wmv etc. It also enables WMP to see all these formats as viable filetypes without associating any files to any player. Do you have a sample of something it can't play? If so, please upload it to rapidshare.com so it can be tested. shark -
[Discontinued] iTunes without QuickTime
Shark007 replied to Shark007's topic in Application Installs
I use the original MSI to create these installers. These items you address are 'failsafe' proceedures built into the msi. My installers are build mainly for unattended use where these situations would not exists. I'll have a look at bypassing them for you, but no promise... Are you using the multilang version or the english version? EDIT: I made a modified version of the English only installer. This will perform a completely hidden installation and hopefully, doesnt prompt the use for any clicks either. Megaupload shark -
If a download URL was included with this request I may have had a look at it for you. All i can find is v3.01 and its available for 4 different operating systems in 4 different downloads. I've already wasted more time on this than I care to. shark

[Discontinued] iTunes without QuickTime
Shark007 replied to Shark007's topic in Application Installs
I don't have any issues with quicktime (installed from the VCP) or with iTunes released on my repository.Sorry to hear its giving you such problems. You mention in the VCP thread about QT issues and most likely this is all the same issue. Have you tried to remove the QT components installed with VCP and install the official QT release to try and fix these problems? shark -
The 8.5 BETA release on my repository has been updated using the official English release and to include a quicklaunch shortcut. A shortcut is also placed on the startmenu. The desktop shortcut and the startmenu shortcut folder are removed. shark

All I can say is .. thank god the entire planet isnt as narrow minded as you. FYI: Adobe Reader is distributed in 31 completely separate downloadable languages. I doubt they do this because everyone knows english. shark

I'm of the mindset .. lets keep it simple. In keeping it simple... I suggest you retain the proper directory structure with files placed where they need to be and package all that up into a 7zip or WinRAR self extracting archive and you're good to go. So you install my release and follow it with your self extracting archive. Done. As you like it. shark

The old tutorial somewhat applies, but isnt perfect. The main portion which allows the creation of an AIP is still viable. Specifically, the import of the AdminExecuteSequence table. A new tutorial will be available when it goes final. I don't feel like rewriting it for each new beta release. In the meantime, the msi can be found by initiating the installation to the screen where you have choices to install 'MSN Home' etc... At that time it is found in %allusersprofile%\Application Data\WindowsLiveInstaller\Product shark

Live Messenger 8.5 BETA editable installer is available on my repository. Currently it installs English. To change the language you can copy the old language file msgslang.8.1.0178.00.dll of Windows Live Messenger 8.1.0178 over the new one using the proper filename. msglang.8.5.1235.0517.dll shark

Just a reminder to all MSFN users. DO NOT post any URL's to an installer containing a valid serial number. Even if this valid serial is only part of the install script and changed to Demo afterwards. Users posting 'warez' are banned without notice. Shark007

This I can help you with. Install the program. Set everything up as you wish. repackage my installer with the new winamp.ini file you just created when you set everthing as you wish it. It is in the main winamp folder. For those not so inclined to repackage my installer, you can just copy your winamp.ini file overtop of the existing one after installation. shark
