Thanks for the information shark

? i didnt do anything ? odd, for some reason the board view was set to 'Outline' for a period of time. I assumed you were just checking out the different default settings.. no matter All is well now, and back to normal 'Standard' view. shark
-
Thanks Martin, the standard view as default is appreciated.

As the title says.. you now need to be logged in to view an entire thread. EDIT1 - i take that back. you can't view an entire thread.. ever. I'm guessing this is some sort of new feature to save bandwidth. Geeezzzz, even when logged in, the forums are not friendly. Clicking on a link to view more posts still doesnt give you an entire thread, just the 1st post + the new link. This has extremely limited the usability of these forums. arrrrgggghhhhhhhh! It sucks. EDIT2: Another missleading thing I just discovered is the dropdown list at the bottom of the page lists the posters nic first (in bold text so you want to click it) , then the post. Clicking on the user nick (because it comes 1st) as a guest brings you to the logon page EDIT3: Posts gone missing? In my codec pack thread, the 3rd post down used to contain a 'Tools section'. I can no longer find this post. Also, threads containing IMPORTANT information were linked to via the posts ID# which brought readers directly to the info they needed. These ID URL's no longer function. This ID URL used to bring you to the tools section before this latest update. As far as i can tell, the post no longer exists. Well thats about the end of my complaints/rants because I just realized that users need to switch from the boards new default view to 'Standard' view using the OPTIONS box in the upper right.

The process has not changed and it does work as stated. You need to read more because what I am about to tell you is stated in the x64 thread. If you associated a filetype to the 32bit player, it will always open the 32bit player even if the system is using the 64bit player as default. Just like if you associated a filetype to Media Player Classic. They are 2 different programs and the file associations are not changed, just the systems default player. I assure you, the icons do as stated and this is easily verified by having a shortcut to Windows Media Player in your startmenu or on the desktop that was placed there by the operating system. Once you swap to x64 just rightclick the WMP shortcut and in the list, choose open file location. It will take you to the appropriate version. shark

[Release] Adobe Shockwave Player 11.0.0.465

I havent tested it. i don't use opera myself. My next thought is that UAC is blocking it. Try right clicking the installer and choosing Run as administrator. shark -
[Release] Adobe Shockwave Player 11.0.0.465
Shark007 replied to Shark007's topic in Application Installs
I'm going to guess you are using Vista x64. At the time I created these installers the x64 file structure was unknown to me. If executing them on an x64 machine they will be installed to \Program Files\ but in reality the target softwares are located in \Program Files (x86)\ I'll create installers specifically for use on x64 machines when time permits. shark -
If you use my 64bit Components package for Vista, it comes with icons to seamlessly swap the system default player from 32bit to 64bit and back again. Read that link for full information. shark

Safe to Delete files in Windows\Temp folder

There is nothing quite like a script from Gunsmokingman. I have always admired your work, thanks for sharing once again shark -
[Discontinued] iTunes without QuickTime
Shark007 replied to Shark007's topic in Application Installs
using orca go into the InstallExecuteSequence table and drop the row QuickTimePreInstallMSIProc shark -
I don't experience these issues here. Possibly your issue is related to your method of installing IE7. I use the downloaded installer to perform the installation. shark
-
It doesnt require installation. You can package up the installed directory from a working machine into a selfextracting archive and create your own installer. You could also occassionally update the def file to keep it current. shark
-
My 2 cents... Installing it using the defaults has always worked for me. Same with installing the vmware tools into a virtual machine. shark
-
I realize running tests from Sun will produce these results. In the real world, and in my testing, Java functions properly and does what i need it ti do.If this installer is not meeting your needs, go over the the ryanvm forums where Kel has released a full installer with nothing removed. shark

I'm not exactly sure what a Shark fix is but i doubt it comes from me. All my released software is in exe format. My codec releases are for audio/video playback and I doubt your need this to transfer files to and from the phone. It sounds to me like you need to get back onto the manufacturer for proper fix or insist on a refund so you can buy a phone that does work with Vista. shark

This software release was updated today and contains major improvements. Definately worthy of a BUMP to this post. shark

My installer is a stripped down version that installs ONLY the JRE components. shark.

Vista Stop Responding When I Click SystemTray Icons
Shark007 replied to army20's topic in Windows Vista
I have experienced this same situation with ONE particular icon. It was a configuration icon for my onboard C-Media AC97 Audio Device. My solution - click on it. wait it out. It finally comes up. wait it out. Slow to navigate. wait it out. set things as you wish. wait it out. on the last screen, choose to not show the tray icon. wait it out. Finally it was gone and I never had a problem anymore since I dont have the icon anymore. A more permanent solution, watch (and wait it out) for updated drivers to be released by the manufacturer. shark -
The original icon from Vista WMP is max'd @ 64 x 64

Safe to Delete files in Windows\Temp folder
Shark007 replied to spacesurfer's topic in Windows Vista
Yes, it is safe to delete files in that temp folder. Just curious ...With that opinion of Vista, why did you even bother to come into a section entitled: Microsoft Operating Systems - Software Discussion & Support > Windows Vista Are you actually the maintainer of the BBS linked in your signature? I'll be sure to avoid that one when seeking advice. shark -
Updated March 31, 2007 (JRE6) Update 1 file information: 9.05 MB - MD5 = 7414d3876be92301a41090a6ff3bb82f EDIT: I updated this release 24hrs after the initial posting. Check the MD5 to be sure. In the initial release I forgot to turn off both the auto update and the tray icon. (did i mention i was getting old?) sorry to those affected. Download it from my repository. shark
-
The update feature is a removed item. I suggest you try the download from Adobe. That will give you a full featured viewer with nothing stripped out. My installers are NOT meant for desptop use, they are meant to add to an unattended CD. In this instance space is precious and every kb counts. If a user needs a full featured reader they can uninstall my version and install the FULL version. shark

Have you tried it with the one posted? I just said it wasnt compatible because i havent tested the method. I know it will install from svcpack, but what may fail is uninstall. I also know they work fine from runonceex because i use this method. And no, I won't be trying to make it compatible if it fails. shark
